“Why isn’t Prescott available here? Have you guys made a deal that only one of you will be present in the meeting from now on?” Alpha Mason asked, not appreciating our immature behavior.

“I presume that he is busy and it’s not an important meeting. It’s something that I want. to ask from you,” I stood meekly, flashing a small yet gentle smile at him.

‘Why didn’t you discuss it with me beforehand?’ My mom whined, showing her displeasure. I ignored her and watched everyone’s gaze fixated at me which made me feel slightly nervous.

I hadn’t summoned a meeting before, nor I had attended any meeting without my husband. Clearing my throat, I regained my composure and held the edge of the table tightly.

“Since the war is hovering over us, as the Alpha Queen, I need to fulfill my duty and for that, I need to move to my pack. Dylan is after me so it will help in diverting his attention. All the innocent pack members wouldn’t have to suffer,” I began explaining my plan to them and they intently heard me.

Mom opened her mouth to protest but I let my aura cause her to submit to me. After all, I was the Queen and I didn’t need her to babysit me. She was impressed with Dylan and wanted me to marry him which wasn’t going to happen. Ever.

“That’s a ridiculous condition,” Mason scowled, shrugging his shoulders.

“No divorce is happening here,” I shook my head. “Prescott and I need some time alone to focus on the war. Dylan isn’t an easy opponent. Besides, Prescott loves me so much that I would never leave him,” I lied and watched Caleb almost coughing.

“Are you my older brother?” I rolled my eyes at him. “Fine. I’ll remember that,” I surrendered.

“I know that it’s hard to trust me after what my sister did but I promise you that if you decide to trust me, you won’t regret it.” Jericho said softly, opposite to what he showed others.

“The rough and tough Gam ma could be such a softie for me. I’m flattered,” I batted my eyelashes, teasing him to which he sc owled and left with Beta after wishing me good luck to make arrangements for my journey.

“Hmm,” Mason was the last person to stay. “Come here?” He stretched his arms and pulled me in a fatherly hug.

“Thank you for everything, Alpha Mason.” I whispered, my voice sounding weak.

“I always wanted a strong-headed daughter like you. I’m lucky to be blessed by such a daughter-in-law,” he exaggerated, making me giggle but I knew that he meant it. “Prove all of them wrong, Matilda. I know you have got this.”

He apologized to me on his son’s behalf but I told him not to do so. It wasn’t his fault that his son was such a jerk. Just when I was about to step outside of the apartment, a heart-wrecking pain emerged from my n*eck and reached my heart, making me scream in agony.
