Noah

“Did you get everything you needed today?” Gema had been back nearly a week, and she was settling in well with our routine here. She’d also finally had time to go shopping for new clothes as she’d arrived with nothing.

“Yeah, Luna Ellis loves her shopping. She took me and Hadley everywhere she could think of, even some unexpected places.”

“Really? Like where?”

“How about you get comfortable, and I'll show you?” She ran a single finger down my chest and gave me a smirk, indicating the kind of comfortable she meant.

I peeled off my clothes and waited for her to return. We had spent quite a bit of time exploring each other during the last few days. It was complete heaven having her with me, and Cosmo was nearly back to his old self. Now, we just needed my parents and pack back.

I was lost in my thoughts when Gema walked out in the sexiest two-piece lingerie set. I was hard just looking at her. “Getting dressed, he should be out soon.”

“Oh, hey, you dropped your… “Jordan stood near the bed and bent down to pick up one of the silk scarves from last night. It must have fallen when I went to put them back in the bag.

Noah walked out just as Jordan realized what he was holding. “Fuck man, I did not need to know you like tying up your girl.” He held the scarf out to Noah with his thumb and forefinger as he shook his head in disgust.

“Who said I was the one who liked being tied up?” I gave Jordan my best glare as I snatched the scarf away.

“What?...Oh…” He covered his mouth in surprise. “Yeah, I did not need to know that about my Gamma.”

“What don’t you need to know about Noah?” Cristian barged in through the open door, and I glared at both Jordan and Noah to stay quiet.

“Nothing, just uh…nothing.” Jordan didn’t even try to be smooth about it.

Cristian looked questioningly between his two friends wondering what was going on before a look of realization hit him. “Oh…eww…there are some things a brother doesn’t need to know.”

“Come on big brother, no more talking, let’s head out…busy day and all.” I grabbed his arm and dragged him out the door.

“So, for all intents and purposes, I’m your brother, too…so, I’m just gonna pretend I saw nothing and know nothing,” Jordan called out to Noah as we headed out.

“But to get back on track, I was actually here because Alpha sent for us. Olivia is coming back today. She wants to meet with all of us and give an update on the cat’s progress. “She might even be here already.”

“That’s perfect, she’s been wanting to meet Gema.” Noah grabbed my hand, and we headed downstairs.

By the time we made it to the office, Alpha and Luna were already there with Beta Gabriel and his mate. Gamma Isaiah and another two women I hadn’t yet met were with them as well, so I was left to assume one of them was Olivia. Nora rounded out the group. I was happy they were including her in the meeting and were giving her the same respect as any other Luna, she was after all a future Luna.

“You must be Gema, I’ve heard a lot about you.” An elegant woman with long dark hair came up to me. She extended her hand for me to shake and gave me a firm grip when I placed my hand in hers. "I'm Olivia, it's nice to finally meet you."

“Yes, ma’am.”

“All of you kids, always so polite with the ma’am, but just call me Olivia.” She motioned for me to sit next to her. “I am impressed with everything you’ve managed to accomplish while you were at Wildfire. You’re a very brave young woman. If you’re ever in need of a job, come see me. I’m always looking for sharp-minded employees.”

“Thank you, but if all goes as planned, I’ll be set as the next Gamma female of Cobalt Falls.”

“That’s right, Alpha Kedrick had mentioned you and Noah turned out to be mates after all. Congratulations, I wish you decades of happiness.” She gave me a genuine smile, but there was a hint of sadness in her tone. Noah had told me how she’d lost her mate, so she must be missing him.

“We’re all here, shall we get started?” Alpha stood up to start the meeting.

“Yes, I have brought a few maps with me.” Her assistant handed her a rolled-up paper, and she unrolled it on the table, revealing a map with different dots everywhere. “These are the cat shifters around the country who have agreed to help. They will mobilize at a moment’s notice, but it will take time for the ones that are further out to arrive. As you can see, it’s mostly the western ones as the cats further out don’t want to involve themselves, but I can’t say I blame them. There were a few who said to call them back if things weren’t going well, so we might have additional resources if we get desperate.”

Alpha was about to speak but was interrupted by a knock on the door. Before anyone could answer, a tall girl, with luminous brown skin and expressive eyes walked through the door. I saw Jordan stiffen and clench his fist as Alpha Kedrick walked her over and introduced her. “My sister, Aaliyah…she arrived late last night and will be helping us."

“I’m so sorry, I must have been more tired than I thought as I slept right through my alarms.”

“It’s alright, Liyah, you’re here now, let’s get back to work.”

Aaliyah took a seat at the end of the table, and Jordan closed his eyes and rubbed at his face as she walked by. He was clearly upset by her presence, so I could only assume this was the mate Noah had told me about. She might have been Alpha Kedrick’s sister, but I had to fight the urge to glare at her as I instantly disliked her for what she did to Jordan. Even Amora wanted to give her a piece of her mind.

“Alright, so here’s a map of the seven wolf packs we’ve been working with and training up these last few weeks.” Alpha Kedrick pulled us back to work.

Each pack seemed to be located in a different state, which meant we were all very spread out.

“There are a few smaller packs we’re trying to convince to join us, but as expected, they’re worried about numbers, especially being left without protection when their warriors head out to fight. I’ve organized for some of the bigger packs to house the smaller ones during the actual battle, that way no one is left defenseless when we mobilize the warriors. We’ve also been working on training a reserve to stay back in their packs for protection should they be attacked while the main warriors are away.”

“That’s good thinking. We’ll have to see if some packs can house some cats as well. I have a few fighters who don’t want to leave their families behind, " Olivia interjected.

I watched enraptured as Olivia and Alpha Kedrick went back and forth discussing what they had been working on. It took most of the morning, but we had all been given jobs to start preparing the packs for the upcoming war.

The Cobalt Falls trio and I had been tasked with helping with the training. We needed all hands on deck to not only train the recruits from other packs but also to help train the reserves and keep up with the children’s and teen classes. They let me take over these classes from Luna as I knew how to do that already, and she would help Gamma Isaiah with the more experienced warriors. With the help of some of the older warriors, Cristian and Jordan would handle the new warriors and newly shifted, and Noah would take on the reserves.

Nora was already under Luna’s tutelage, so she would take over any tasks Luna was unable to care for while helping with the additional training. The Betas and Alpha would handle communication and diplomacy between the packs, and Olivia would do the same on her end for her cats. That left Aaliyah who had volunteered to cover the medical aspects of war. I tried hard not to roll my eyes every time she spoke, but it was hard as my petty was coming out. Noah was the only one who noticed my attitude and asked me to reign it in, which I eventually did.

“Great, it’s been a productive day, but I’m sure we’re all ready to eat. We’ll contact everyone as planned, and hopefully, the packs and cats will be ready to put all this in motion by next week. Plan Extinguishing Wildfire is officially underway.
