Night had already fallen after Leia was settled down. Ethan sat on the steps and smoked one cigarette after the other. No one knew what he was thinking, but they could see his fingers shaking uncontrollably. Standing behind him, Brent said, “Mr. Miller, the deed is done.”

Ethan exhaled a puff of smoke and smiled bitterly. “I shot Liv. I actually shot her. She'll never forgive me.”

A spark of life returned to Ethan's eyes. He dusted himself off and stood up. Countless emotions surged within him when he walked to Leia’s side and saw how weak she was.
