Evil Angels
Chapter 27

Larus’ POV

Alexandra and I sat in a booth in the small cafe while Elijah was sitting outside of the store watching Emma. I could tell Alexandra did not quite like the idea of him watching over her but it was entertaining to watch the two being mad at each other. Right now, Alexandra was basically glaring holes through the window that faced down the street toward the store.

I picked up my coffee and took a sip, “You should probably relax for a bit... Elijah is more than capable of watching her.”

Her glare switched to me instantly then back to the window, “I don’t like my mate being watched by a demon.”

*Well if you don’t like it we can switch back. And while you are at it can you bring out some coffee, pipsqueak? It is a little cold out here.*

I chuckled at Elijah’s nickname for her while she retorted.

“No problem, do you like it with or without poison?”

Alexandra stood up and threw some money down for the coffee, “My mate should be going on break soon. I will go meet up with her.”

I nodded and watched as she exited the cafe while an older man wearing an apron walked in.

Andy… I haven’t seen him in years.

He noticed me instantly out of the corner of his eye and made his way over to the booth, “Hello Larus, it feels like forever since you have made an appearance down here.”

I motioned for him to sit down which he accepted and slid in across from me, “Wow Andy, it looks like you haven’t aged a bit.”

He let out a breath, “It feels like I have aged a hundred years… Say have you heard about that murdered man a couple days ago?”

“Yes, I have. It’s strange, I never knew he lived around here.”

Andy thanked the waitress as she came over with a cup of coffee then left. He stared at his mug, “A lot of strange things have been happening around here lately. Come to think of it, it all started back when that girl’s body was found in the fields… There is definitely something evil wandering around this town. It seems to even have my worker around the shop, Emma, spooked.” Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ ꜰindNʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Andy has changed… but I don’t know why. He just feels different.

I stirred my coffee, “Strange things happen everyday. But, it seems you are the only one that notices.”

He sipped some of his coffee, “I notice because I need to protect the one I care about… I have a feeling you do the same. Only I don’t know who.”

“My daughter moved in with me from Colorado a few months ago. So yes, I do feel the same.”

His eyes flashed, “Interesting, I didn’t know you had a daughter.”

I nodded, trying to pick through every angel sense I had to find what was different about him, “Hopefully you will meet her soon. Right now she is actually at your shop picking up some stuff.”

Andy took one last sip of coffee then stood up, “Well I am going to have to get going. Emma will hate me if I leave her with a bunch of customers… I will see you around Larus.”

I leaned back in my seat as he walked out the door, “See you around.”

Alexandra’s POV

I stayed outside of the store, watching everyone and everything that moved. I told Larus and Elijah that they could go home as Emma only has an hour left in her shift. I was sitting across the street on a bench, observing everyone walking by.

Thank god because of my cold presence no one wants to come near me.

Time flew by fast and before I knew it, Emma came bouncing out of the store. She ran straight up to me with a smile causing a small smile to form on my face. She stared at me in disbelief, “Oh my god! Was that a smile I just saw?!”

I instantly turned my face back to my normal frown, “Nope… Let’s get out of here.”

I stood and walked behind a building with her following behind me. She was laughing at me, “Is someone a little embarrassed to show emotion?”

I determined we were far enough away from humans and let my evil out, “I am not embarrassed.”

Before she could question me about it again, I wrapped my arms around her and took off into the sky. She buried her head into my shoulder to keep the wind out of her face as I flew as fast as I could towards the castle. I could feel her giggling against me, “What are laughing about?”

She lifted her head up, “Oh nothing really… You just are so funny.”

I scuffed, “Well I am glad I am entertaining for you.”

I gracefully landed in front of the stairs leading up to the front door and changed into my human. Emma wiggled in my arms, “You know you don’t have to change into your human right away all the time.”

I shrugged, “I don’t know. It’s just kind of a habit to do around humans. If I don’t need to do anything in my evil form I change to my human.”

She pulled my head down and pulled me into a long kiss. The flood of emotions that ran through my body caused me to lose focus on my human form and let my evil out. Emma pulled away and smiled, “There, much better.”

I shook my head, “You did that on purpose.”

She smirked, “Maybe but you have to admit it, your evil looks pretty hot.”

“Oh really.”

She nodded her head with the smirk till on her face. I was about to say something else but felt the presence of someone else close to us. I glanced over towards the door to see Elijah leaning against the door frame. He chuckled, “Are you going to come in for dinner anytime soon or should I lock the door for the night?”

I glared him down, “I think breaking your neck sounds like a better option actually.”

He let his evil form out, stretching out his huge wings, “I would like to see you try pipsqueak.”

I felt my evil push forward as my eyes took in his challenging stance. I put Emma down next to me, “Go off to the side. I have to teach this demon a lesson.”

This started as a joke, but now my evil wants to kill something.

I had been having way too much stress put on me so now was definitely now a good time to be challenging me. The evil side of me was taking over and I could tell so was his. Emma stared at the both of us, “Alex, what are you doing?”

I heard the worry and desperation in her voice but for some reason my whole body was pushing me to do this.

I am ready.

I stretched my wings out too which Elijah did not like at all. He took off towards me and his tail went for my legs. Knowing what he was going to do, I launched into the air and above him, sending a kick right to the side of his torso. He was thrown off balance for a second but launched into the sky with me. This time he was successful with his tail and wrapped it around my legs, sending me crashing into the ground. He landed on top of me and we both started rolling on the ground with our wings flapping and claws getting thrown everywhere, desperate to rip into flesh. The evil side of us was fully in charge and it wanted blood.

I heard Larus’ voice in the distance, “What are you too doing?!”

We didn’t stop our fighting and I clawed Elijah in the face, finally drawing blood. At the same time he got the chance to claw into my chest and I felt the warm blood starting to seep out of my skin.

Larus’ authoritative voice was closer this time, “Both of you, stop this right now!”

My evil instantly submitted and I stood up with my head towards the ground. Elijah did the same. Larus glared at the both of us with his evil out, “Can someone please tell what the hell that was about?!”

I spoke up with my eyes still at the ground, “We have been under a lot of stress and both our evils couldn’t handle being challenged so… we took it out on each other.”

Larus let out a sigh and morphed into his human, “Let’s get you two cleaned up. I don’t want to see anymore fighting from you two.”

I nodded, “Yes maker.”

Elijah looked over at me, “Okay I will try to control my evil more.”

Elijah went with Larus while Emma walked with me to my room. She looked at the huge cuts I had on my chest from Elijah’s claws, “How are we going to fix that up?”

I looked down at it seeping with blood, “I just need some blood. Then it will be as good as new.”

She looked up at me and I knew what she was thinking. I shook my head, “No I am not going to take yours. I am going to go get some from a rabbit or something… Go get ready for bed and I will be back for you know it.”

She gave me a small smile, “Okay. See you in a few.”

I stepped over to the window sill and jumped out of it while morphing into my evil. Within about ten minutes I found a rabbit and drank its blood dry, feeling myself slowly healing.

Human blood tastes way better and heals faster but this will do.

When I got back to the room I saw Emma already curled up in bed and fast asleep. I quickly got changed into some clean clothes and laid down next to her. She quickly snuggled up against me and I wrapped my wing around for extra warmth. I looked down at her brown hair slightly covering her face and smiled then kissed the top of her head.

My cute little mate.
