Caleb scoffs cupping my chin and forcing me to look into his distressed blue eyes. “I’m very concerned about you. You fainted when you healed him, Faith. There was a bright yellow light and a force so strong it knocked everyone in the room down. When I found you all my fears came true because you were unconscious and not breathing. I could have lost you.... I thought I did for a moment.”

My head hangs low. “I’m sorry I wasn’t thinking. I just knew Alpha Raymond was dying and I didn’t want to lose anyone else-”

“And I don’t want to lose you Faith!” He snaps and backs away from me. His jaw ticked and fists clenched at his side.

“You’re not going to lose me. I just overexerted myself last night. The virus in his body took a lot more of my strength than usual but I’m fine. I’m a fairy I heal people.”

“I’m not going to let you put yourself in harm’s way just to save a friend. Alpha Raymond is a great guy, but your life is more important than his,” he says, walking towards our bedroom door. He opens it with a sorrowful look on his face. “Alpha Raymond and everyone else have been compelled to forget they even saw you. Nobody knows he was sick or that you healed him.”

I’m so confused. “B-but how? Why would you do that? We need answers. How are we going to find out more about the virus and stop it?” I shout and Caleb stands in our doorway with his hands on the doorknob.

“We’re not Faith. Your parents are going to take over the investigation I’m sorry.”

“Sorry?”

“I love you, but I refuse to put you in any more danger. Sometimes people need to be saved from themself, Faith.” He sighs and closes the door. I hear his faint footsteps walk away and rush up to the door to talk to him but it’s locked. I jiggle the doorknob more, but nothing happens.

“Caleb! Caleb, this isn’t funny. Open the door!”

Silence

“Caleb, is this a joke? It’s not funny open the door!”

“Caleb!” I scream and bang my fists against the door. “Caleb I will break this door down if I have to!”

Growling I ram my shoulder into the door, but it doesn’t budge. I kick at it a few times before I realize our bedroom door has been switched out for a more reinforced one. Which means I’m stuck in here.

“Caleb I’m your mate you can’t lock me up!”

“Caleb!”

Feeling completely hopeless I lean against the door and begin to sob. “Please Caleb I’m sorry.”

More tears stream down my face but he never comes back, and I find myself falling asleep curled against the door.

The bed creaks beside me waking me up. It takes me a moment to register where I’m at, but I would recognize these soft silky sheets everywhere and the delicious scent beside me.

Growling, I roll over straddling the body beside me, and wrap my hand around his throat. “You asshole!”

“Sorry? You locked me in our bedroom like I’m some type of prisoner! I yelled your name and begged for you to set me free. I cried myself to sleep because of you!”

Caleb glares at me. “I was trying to protect you! I still am! What do you think is going to happen when everyone finds out you’re a fairy? They will hunt you down and you’ll be wishing to be locked in a room as luxurious as our bedroom.”

“I don’t need you to be my savior,” I say through clenched teeth.

I will not let them take you from me and I will kill anyone who tries!” he growls and cups my face. “You’re mine!” he says before connecting his lips with mine in the most aggressive yet passionate kiss I’ve ever had.
