Johann’s angry gaze fell on Edith’s and Carlos‘ crossed arms. 

Johann asked, stressing each word, “Edith, who is he?” 

Vanessa was slightly surprised, thinking, “Why did she bring someone back so soon? Judging from his imposing appearance and powerful aura, he should be someone of high status, right?” 

Vanessa could be considered a socialite in Caurtine and knew a lot of rich young men, but this person looked unfamiliar to 

her.

“Edith, who’s this handsome guy? Aren’t you afraid that Mr. Lawson will be angry when he sees you two so intimate? My wedding will be in the headlines tomorrow.” 

“Oh? Is that so? The headlines about you stealing my fiancé and being so arrogant?” Edith replied sharply. 

Hearing this, Carlos raised his eyebrows in admiration. He had thought that Edith only acted tough in front of outsiders and was cowardly in front of her family. It turned out that she would fight back. 

Carlos smiled faintly, and it was captured by Johann. 

Carlos looked at Edith affectionately. As a man, Johann knew very well what that smile meant, 

Johann was instantly displeased, saying, “I was just your fiancé. We’re not married, and I don’t need to bear any legal responsibility. But you’re different. You’re already married, yet you’re still hooking up with another man. Do you have any shame, Edith?” 

As she heard this, Edith’s eyes widened. She couldn’t believe that Johann had said those words. 

Edith thought, “What does he mean by that? Is he blaming me?” 

She subconsciously wanted to withdraw her hand, but Carlos stopped her. 

Carlos looked at Edith coldly as if she had disappointed him. 

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling guilty because he guessed correctly?” 

“I’m not. I don’t have an affair with you,” Edith hurriedly said. 

“Then what are you afraid of? They are the ones who hurt you. Why are you so weak? If you want to ruin this wedding to vent your anger, I will help you. If anyone dares to say anything about it, I will get him out of Caurtine.” 

Carlos said in a domineering manner. He narrowed his cold eyes menacingly. 

He couldn’t bear to See Edith be bullied. 

Hearing this, Edith was instantly filled with courage. She didn’t let go of Carlos‘ hand and instead tightened her grip. 

Edith smiled brightly and replied calmly, “I forgot to introduce him to you. This is Simon’s uncle, who is here to attend the wedding. Simon is not here, so as his wife, I am here on his behalf. I happened to meet Uncle Carlos on the way, so I came with him. He is not in good health. Is there anything wrong with me, his junior, supporting him?” 

“Uncle?” Vanessa frowned. She had long heard that there was a mysterious man among the younger generation of the Lawson family. The man’s father was Bill Lawson’s youngest son who was born when Bill was already 60, so the generation gap was rather large. 

This person rarely showed up. No matter how big the occasion was, he would only ask his secretary to send a gift. Vanessa wondered why Carlos had come here.

“Sure enough, one’s thoughts reveal what he is. I guess you can’t think of anything else, can you?” Edith said sarcastically, and her eyes fell on Johann with disappointment.. 

Embarrassed, Johann looked away. He couldn’t believe that he had doubted Edith. They had been in love for so many years and were familiar with each other. How could he suspect her? 

He wanted to apologize, but when he met Edith’s cold gaze, Johann felt a lump in his throat and couldn’t say a word. 

Dejected, Johann said, ‘In that case, please go ahead and eat something. You must be tired.” 

“All right, wish you a long and happy marriage. Edith, if you have anything else to say, say it now.” Although it was a blessing. there was no joy in Carlos‘ icy tone at all. 

Hearing this, Edith took a deep breath. Indeed, she should give her cousin and her ex–fiancé some special blessings.
