The delicious dishes were quickly served. Edith picked up a chicken drumstick without hesitation, but she soon realized that something was wrong.

Whenever Carlos saw her being so attentive, he would always be in a good mood. He knew that Edith was obviously very afraid of him but still tried to suppress her fear.

Carlos had smooth, tanned skin. Wearing a suit, he had a nice body. Edith searched all the information about Carlos in her mind, but she only knew that he never got close to women. Edith came to her senses, rolled her eyes, and giggled, “Nothing. I’m just curious… Uncle is so handsome, rich, and powerful, but why don’t you… even have a girlfriend?” 

Hearing this, Carlos looked at her with a strange gaze. 

He wondered if Edith was talking about him.

Carlos knew Edith’s weakness and pointed it out directly. Edith had been trying to contact Simon for so long but was always ignored by him. She just went to Carlos once, but Simon showed up that night and even said those words. Therefore, Edith assumed that Simon was very obedient to Carlos. 

With Carlos‘ help, it wouldn’t be long before Edith left the Lawson’s place, so she could not afford to offend him! 

In the end, Edith nodded helplessly and fixed the time and the place of meeting with Carlos. 

Carlos had work to do at the company in the afternoon, so he asked Edith to go back and dress up before picking her up at night. 

After getting home, Edith dealt with some things. Seeing that it was already four o’clock when she was done, she prepared to dress up and go out. 

Edith opened the wardrobe in her bedroom again. In the past, she only got out some spare clothes, but now… she needed a beautiful party dress. 

It took her a while to pick a tight–fitting patent leather dress. It had a round collar with no sleeves and wasn’t revealing at all by enveloping her body tightly. 

She carefully put on makeup for fear that she would embarrass Carlos. 

After getting dressed up. Edith went downstairs. Susan was stunned by her beauty and said with a smile, “You’re so beautiful. Mrs. Lawson. Mr. Lawson will definitely like the look of you this way!” 

Hearing this, Edith felt a little worried. After all, she was going out with Carlos. 

She didn’t dare to tell the truth and changed the subject, asking, “Do I really look so pretty?”
