Chapter Twenty-Three

Justin and Hartley moved to the forest where they set up a training ground “Ready?” Hartley shouts and Justin nods with slight hesitation. “Go!” she yells before firing her gun straight towards him, he quickly teleports behind Hartley and she spins quickly going to kick his stomach but he steps back dodging it and grabbing her arms twisting the gun from her hand.

He leans in until they are but centimetres apart “Again?” he whispers, Hartley nods and uses all the strength she could muster to flip Justin onto his back “So uncalled for” he whines pulling himself up and dusting off his pants.

She smiles and quickly picks up the gun from the ground and pointing it at Justin, he teleports to her other side quickly, he chuckles picking her up at her waist and putting her over his shoulder. “Put me down!” she laughs “Justin we need to practice!” Justin begins to spin making her cling to him and cease her kicking.

“Loosen up Blue” he laughs and Hartley smiles widely at the use of her old nickname she hadn’t heard in so long. She giggles and hits his back lightly “Now say Justin is the best, strongest and most attractive person in the world” Hartley groans as he jumps and she begins to feel queasy.

“JUSTIN IS THE BEST, STRONGEST AND MOST ATTRACTIVE PERSON IN THE WORLD!” she screams and he puts her down with a triumphant smile.

“I knew you would come around one day” he winks and she rolls her eyes. “Alright, my power is so easy to use I can literally practice anytime, let’s practice with yours okay bub we need to make sure you are strong enough for this” he says and Hartley pouts.

He swings his arms back and forwards stretching “I’m not strong enough for this Justin” she whispers “What if I lose control, I could hurt someone, I could even hurt you” Justin places his hands on her shoulders and she looks up to him with wide eyes.

“You are in control” he says confidently “Now you can do this” she nods slightly and he steps back “Okay Blue show me what you got” Hartley looks to Justin and gives him a weak smile before closing her eyes.

Slowly her hair turns green and the trees around them begin to crack and groan, a couple falling over with loud thuds. “Hey I remember this one” Justin smirks “Jealousy, right?” he asks and Hartley sticks her tongue out, her hair now turning bright pink the winds surrounding them began to pick up.

“You’re doing great Blue! Serious control over this” Justin shouts and Hartley’s eyes open, Kit seemed to be standing in front of her, his little eyes staring into hers.

“Okay now your whole power is around your emotions, so we need to focus on how to control them without being completely emotionless because that’s a one-way road down to a sociopath” Kit’s little voice echoed.

Hartley drops to the ground; her hair turns dark blue and she begins to cry just as rain begins to pour down from the skies. “Blue!” Justin yells running to her side and grabbing her arm, she tried to push him away but he pulls her into his arms “What’s wrong?” he whispers.

“I can’t do it” she sniffs “I can’t do it Justin” he sighs and rubs her back, his hand lightly gliding against a small scar he could feel.

“I’m sorry” he whispers quietly kissing her lightly on the head.

Justin lead Hartley back down to the storage box, to their amazement Bullet and Shooter were outside training as Doc sat on a chair in the sun reading a book on fighting tactics. Shooter looks over to Doc with a smirk “Hey Doc you’re always reading about this stuff, I want to see you do it” he says puffing out his chest slightly and hitting it like Godzilla.

Doc peaks over his book to Shooter and rolls his eyes “Shooter my boy I see no reason to fight so I do not it is that simple, anyway I only like to fight with good competition” he ends smirking slightly, Shooter raises an eyebrow.

“Bring it on old man” Doc sighs and places his book down beside a steaming cup of tea before standing up. He rolls up the long sleeves of his white shirt and removes his vest, Shooter simply snorts at his actions and removes his sweaty white singlet smirking when he hears his wife’s whistle of approval.

In a blink of an eye Doc had landed his fist on Shooters jaw with a loud crack, he stumbles back slightly and rolls his shoulders back “Ouch” he says rubbing his jaw before running to Doc and knocking him off his feet. Luckily Doc caught himself before landing on the ground and ended up hitting the back of Shooter’s knee with his foot making him go falling onto the floor with a silent screech.

Hartley covers her mouth to stop herself from laughing “he’s going to kick his butt isn’t he?” Hartley whispers to Justin and he looks at her smiling and nods slowly.

“Yeah, he’s going down” Justin laughs hugging Hartley.

Doc quickly moves behind Shooter and slams his hand down onto his shoulder, a loud cracking sound echoing through the courtyard, Shooter groans and tries to stand up but Doc flips him over and pins him to the ground with his hand against his throat. “Mercy” Shooter says jokingly and Doc smiles standing up “Okay the old man can fight” he compliments rubbing his still sore jaw, Bullet moves over to him and kisses his cheek.

Doc smiles smugly and sits back down on his seat, he pulls his laptop from his bag and brings his tea to his lips sipping it slightly.

“Can you fight?” Hartley asks Justin and he smirks.

“Babe, I kick ass” he chuckles, his face going slightly red when he realises he called her babe which makes her laugh.

“Fight me” she giggles and he looks at her weirdly.

Bullet moves Shooter out of the way and they both sit on the side lines watching inventively “Get ready” Justin yells and Hartley smirks.

Justin teleports behind Hartley and she kicks back into his bone she quickly turns but he teleports in front of her kissing her cheek before tripping her over making her fall onto her butt. She groans and stands up; she closes her eyes and takes in a deep breath quickly bringing all the memories of fear.

The ground begins to crack around Justin’s feet and he falls through a hole as they ground falls through, he squeals like a little girl when he dropped. She turns and punches him in the face as he teleports behind her, he stumbles back and fake glares at her.

He runs towards her and teleports just before he hits her, he appears beside her and grabs her in his arms before teleporting into the sky “Bye” he laughs dropping her and teleporting back onto the safe ground leaving Hartley falling.

Hartley screams as she goes flying closer and closer to the ground. She covers her head and braces herself for the impact but it never comes, slowly she opens her eyes to see Justin holding her in his arms “I will never let anyone hurt you Blue” he reminds her “Not even myself”

Doc sits up placing his laptop onto the floor beside him and called an urgent meeting which caused everyone to run into the sitting room as fast as they could manage. Justin takes a seat and pulls Hartley onto his lap, Bullet and Shooter sit on the loveseat across from them “what’s up?” Shooter asks curiously. Doc leans forward grabbing the top folder.

“We need a plan” he states obviously “we can’t just go running in blind, when the time comes we need to be ready, now this is my idea...”

Doc continues on explaining his plan, by the time he finished everyone had a headache “That’s just madness” Shooter says angrily, he slams his hands onto the make shift table causing it to crumble at the sheer force.

“And that’s why it’s going to work” Doc chuckles.
