The next morning

Rebecca’s POV

I wake up, and being surrounded in his scent I smile as I look at him.

It’s nice waking up next to him for once.

He never let’s me stay the night, even when we fuck. But everything about last night was different. I always knew he was wild and rough, but he just went on and on like he couldn’t get enough. I was so exhausted. I was glad he didn’t say anything when I didn’t get up.

But lying here, I know I need to make this work. I deserve this. I deserve to be his mate and this pack’s Luna.

They day I found my mate, I was so pissed when he rejected me. And his excuse was that he was already in love. He was just a patrol for goodness sake. He did not even give me a second’s thought to consider us as mates. And he dared to give it all up for an Omega?

That’s when I knew it wasn’t meant to be. How could it? I’m beautiful, smart and have a strong warrior wolf. I deserve better. And with all the time and effort I’ve spent on Nicholas and this pack, I deserve to be his Luna.

I know he’s cold and doesn’t understand the concept of feelings, but at least I know he’ll never cheat on me. I’ll know that he wouldn’t one day give his heart to just any random hussy that comes by. And even though he doesn’t love me yet, I’m sure with time he may learn to love me.

I understand his needs, I can give him what he wants and besides, his pack needs a Luna. Every woman that approached him never got through to him. He just fucked them and moved on. But I stuck around. I’m not afraid of his rough sexual appetites, or his violent fits. I’ve proven my worth and he knows it too. I am the best option for him. It’s not like his true mate has shown up either.

Moving closer to him, I lift my hand and gently trail an outline of his face.

This man is truly gorgeous.

I smile when I see him move closer to my touch.

But my smile drops the moment I hear him say in almost a whisper, “Layla.”

The first minute of lying there, I can hear the gears shift in my head as I try to make sense of this. Maybe I just heard wrong. Maybe my paranoia is making me hear things. Maybe it was just random mumbling.

But after that I start wondering. I know she was working with him and the guys in the office yesterday. Her annoyingly sweet scent was all over him and the guys. It was irritating, but I just sucked it up. She’s a human maid for goodness sake. But when he came to me last night, her scent was still on him. It did seem like it got stronger, but I didn’t want to think anything of it as he was tearing off my clothes.

What the hell is going on?

There couldn’t possibly be in a relationship. Everybody knows she’ll leave soon, and Mr Ice box for a heart wouldn’t know how to. And he wouldn’t dare have an affair with a human. She wouldn’t survive a night with him.

I’m too annoyed now. So I just get up and leave, back to my room.

I need to figure this out. If not, I need to send her a clear message. She's obviously doing something if she's getting his attention.
