Chapter 37: Snow Mountains

It was the weekend we were going to the snow mountains with everyone form Rivellin College that signed up for it. It had been a week since Skylark and I had been drugged so we were not planning on going too hard.

Even though all of our friends were planning on it. Olive had smuggled an entire stash of booze in her backpack and Bron, her boyfriend and Jax’ best friend, had bought some Rainer variant of weed.

I was seated on the flying bus next to Kai. Skylark and Len Skylar were in front of me. Smooching away.

Their relationship still kind of bothered me. Since I knew that a Skylar wasn’t relationship material. But Sky wasn’t human, so he probably could stand her smell.

Somehow knowing that me sleeping in his arms, what was kind of our thing, was not going to go over well.

Yes, the dream kiss he had no problem with but this thing would probably be blown out of proportion.

Ash and Oak would be chaperoning the trip. Ash being a vivid snowboarder, why was I not surprised by this, and being our instructor for the weekend. It was Friday afternoon and all our classes were cancelled because of this trip. Which was awesome.

I spotted Jax on the bench in the back, with Baylor, Sebastian, Otto, Dexar and Melixes. All jokes and big egos. Loudly telling jokes to their football and swim teams, who somehow all sat around them, hanging on to every word.

Ash and Oak were in front of the bus. Were Oak was putting on an entire speech in the microphone about the do’s and don’ts of the weekend. Ash smirking at his brother, arms crossed, one eyebrow raised. Clearly not bothering with any of the rules.

Kai sipped from his drink. ‘They are something.’ Talking about the twins. ‘Yeah, you got that right.’ I agreed.

‘You really don’t want a drink? You will not be drugged twice babe… I’m here to make sure of it.’

The only one making sure of it would be Ash who had hovered over me and Skylark all week. He was really putting in a lot of work, turning up everywhere we were.

They had not found the person who had drugged us yet. Which was weird since it could only be a handful of people who were at the Broom that night.

I reluctantly took one of his beers and sipped from it. Not entirely loving the taste but it will do. Ash’s eyes were locked on me now as if his booze radar had gone off. He was clearly not fond of me drinking. I saw his jaw clench. Something he did when he was this close to busting out in a fit of rage. I had known the guy for almost four months now but it felt a lot longer already. Like I had known him my entire life.

When we arrived at the cabin. I was rooming with Kai and loving the prospect of being alone with him all weekend. Since this was not official academy property, we could room with whoever we liked.

I was unpacking my suitcase, full of sweaters and ski pants. When I heard someone enter behind me. Ash leaned against my dresser where I needed to unpack my stuff. Arms crossed. I scooted him away. Swatting a sweater at him like he was an annoying fly.

He reluctantly moved to the side and continued to scowl at me. ‘You want something Ash?’ he was so tiring sometimes.

‘Don’t get any ideas about taking drinks from anybody Elmrose.’ Deep voice, last name and no jokes, he meant business.

I stuffed the sweater in the drawer and closed it with a hard shove. I glared at him. ‘I’m not planning on it. Only drinks I got my eye on the entire time.’ I emphasised that point by touching my eye and widening it.

‘Are you joining us at the Spa?’ I showed him the bikini I had just grabbed from the dresser. He stared at it with a hungry expression he didn’t even try to hide and nodded.

I rolled my eyes. ‘I need to change Ash, turn around or leave. They are waiting!’

He just looked at me with the weirdest expression on his face. He grabbed my chin and smirked. ‘You little fucking brat.’ Eyes wandering to my lips. ‘Don’t test me this weekend sweet cheeks. I’ve got absolutely no patience for it.’ He released me and walked out. ‘Oh and no need to turn around, I have already seen everything sweetheart. See you later.’ He saluted before slamming the door shut so I could change. Not even bothering hiding the fact that he had seen me naked when he had changed me into his shirt that night of the drugging.

Ten minutes later I was in my black triangle bikini, hair in a high ponytail which swooshed around my lower back when I walked, I entered the spa area.

It was even more beautiful than I could have imagined. Outside hot tubs, surrounded by snow and twinkling lights. Sight on the beautiful snow-capped mountains. A ginormous outdoor heated infinity pool which stretched all around the many hot tubs spread over the mountainside.

This was a fairy tale come to life. I stood in the heated indoor area, mouth gaping as I glanced outside.

‘Don’t let the flies fly in.’ Snapped Melixes, who walked out hand in hand with Sebastian in a dark red bikini. Otto looked me up and down again in that creepy serial killer way of his and Dexar hooted at the sight of me in my bikini.

I stood there for a few seconds feeling self-conscious all of a sudden. ‘Don’t let them get to you.’ Olive came up with a martini in both of her hands. She handed me one. I wanted to decline but she raised one eyebrow.

‘Don’t you dare not drink tonight.’ She placed it firmly in my hand. ‘Now let’s go, Nexxar, Bron, Jax and Kai have already claimed one hot tub. Sky and Lenn are still in their rooms… they are joining us later.’

I knew what they were doing though.

I braced myself for the pending cold and Olive and I ran outside, through the snow, towards our chosen hot tub. Our Martini’s slushing over the side of their glass, so we drank from it while running and giggling at the same time. Olive’s green hair shining in the lamp lights and swooshing behind her in a long mane of beautiful hair.
