Finding Rose
The Tournament

They took there time heading downstairs, making there way through crowded halls and a barrage of scents that was brewing from the kitchen. Sam's hand was still in Rosalies, as they made there way to the foyer. Rose basked in the moment. As they walked, she looked at the house with a new found appreciation for it's architecture. High domed ceilings, with stain glass windows that lined the tops, letting in beautiful colours. The halls were lined with people feeling the remnants of the night before. Some good, some not so good. They past the banquet hall, where it looked like a cleaning crew was getting it ready for another night, and turned the corner to the foyer. They walked down and stopped just before the doors, when they saw Jesse making his way up the entrance stairs.

"Jesse!?" Sam asked.

"Hey Sam!" Jesse replied.

"What are you doing here?" Sam looked behind him. "You and dad already back? It's only been a day."

"So... let's just say your dad got annoyed with my whining and put me on a train." Jesse chuckled.

They all chuckled. Jesse was quick to notice Sam holding a young woman's hand. He quickly glanced at her, then glanced back at Sam.

"Ya...th...this is my favourite time of year, and of course your dad had to take me with him, and I wouldn't shut up about it." He quickly took another glance at the young woman then went back to Sam.

Rosalie knew he had no idea who she was, and wanted to have a little fun. She quickly mind transferred with Sam and Mandy, who kept quite but had grins on their faces. Rosalie got closer to Sam and moved her other hand to his innards of his arm. He definitely noticed.

"So where's Rosalie?" Jesse was quick to mention.

"Pff fuck If I'd know...she's gotta be somewhere." Sam looked down at Rose then back to Jesse. Jesse's face had a confused look on it but wide eyed. Mandy spoke up.

"Ya....she seemed to be having a real good time last night. I even saw some guys shift and they took off in the woods with her." She was laughing and Sam and Rose could hear it through the mind transfer.

Jesse again glanced at the young woman hugging on to Sam.

"Oh...I'm sorry how rude. Jesse this is....Sarah." Sam said. "I met her last night at the bon fire. Isn't she adorable?" Rose threw a smile in his direction. Jesse just nodded his head with a half grin, and his hands in his pockets. He was barely making eye contact. He looked back to Sam.

"Can I talk to you for a sec?" Jesse seemed urgent to separate Sam from the girls. He grabbed Sam by the arm and pulled him over to the side.

Rose and Mandy stood off to the side and had to turn their heads away to hide the chuckles.

"What are you doing? I go for one day and you got your arms around another girl. Dude!" Jesse whispered.

"Man I couldn't help myself. I mean....look at her, she's gorgeous!" Sam said. Jesse looked back at her and checked her out.

"Ok..she pretty hot, but what the hell happened to Rosalie.? I thought there was something going on between you two." Jesse said intensly.

Sam just shrugged his shoulders and said.

"Meh."

Jesse stood back and was shocked that Sam would show such coldness towards her. Sam patted his shoulder and made his way towards the girls, leaving Jesse dumbfounded. Sam, Mandy and Rose bursted out laughing when Jesse stood there motionless. Rose then walked up to him and held out her hand for a handshake.

"Let me properly introduce myself. My name is Ro-"

She was suddenly cut off by Jesse who came barreling towards her, scooping her up off the ground.

"Oh my god! are you serious?" He yelled while twirling her around.

"When? How? He was speechless. He put her down just as fast as he picked her up, and immediately went for her white locks. He ran his finger down the length of the lock and smiled.

"I like it." He said with a big smile.

He looked over at Sam and Mandy, and his expression turned to annoyance. "You assholes!" He yelled.

"Bahahahahahahah." Laughed Mandy and Sam.

"Ahahah com'on let's go. I'd love to spend the day with all of you if that's ok?" Rose smiled at everyone, and they were just as eager to spend the day with her.

Jesse parted ways for a short while to shower up from his long train ride, and he was going to meet them on the field right after. Today's activities consisted of tournaments between different packs and mini competitions between opposite sex's. One tournament consisted of carrying a person on your wolf's back through a mud track. Another consisted of a circle, and the goal of the game was to get your opponent out of the circle. Rosalie watched as some of the contenders performed the challenge as their wolf or human self. There was a beer chugging contest, a food eating contest, horse shoe competitions, arm wrestling competitions and so many more she couldn't keep track of. Sam saw Rosalie soaking it all in. The smile on her face was like euphoria to him. He didn't want to admit it, but he was perfectly content with the idea that she may never be able to shift. He just wanted to be with her any way he could. But watching her laugh and smile, was like ecstasy to him. She looked over to him, and caught him looking at her. She had to turn away to hide the rosiness flooding her cheeks. Suddenly an announcement, could be heard from an individual for the main event. Rosalie looked at Sam with curiosity. He grabbed her hand and led her to the crowd that formed centre field.

"Where are we going?" She asked him.

"You'll see." He said. He managed to squeeze there way through the crowd of party goers and revellers.

It was Locklin's voice that they heard, and he was announcing the rules of the game. There were teams gathering near the front of the stage. Teams of 4, that all bared different team colours.

"What's going on?" Rose tugged on Sam's arm.

"Oh....sorry." He pulled her in front of him and spoke in her ear. "It's a relay race. You essentially have four teams of 4 and each member is positioned in different parts of the property. You run your baton to your team mate, then they go to the next until the last member has to cross the finish line."

"Sounds fun." She said.

Jesse came running up behind them after squeezing threw the crowd.

"Did I miss it?" He sounded out of breath.

"No, it looks like there looking for another team to compete. I guess one of the teams hit the beer tent a little too early." Sam chuckled.

Rosalie quickly turned to Sam. She gave him those big doe eyes, and he didn't need to ask. He already knew what she was thinking. He smiled and quickly went up to the stage where Locklin stood.

"Alpha." Sam yelled.

Locklin looked down and saw Sam trying to get his attention. They mind transferred, and he gave the thumbs up. Sam ran back over to where Rose and Jesse stood. He quickly mind transferred Mandy who was elsewhere, to meet them at the centerfield stage.

"Ok, we're in." Sam grabbed Rosalies hand who then grabbed Jesse's, and made there way to the stage.

Sam went ahead and grabbed the baton from the registry table and gave his name. Then made his way back to his team mates.

"Ok Rose, this game is pure endurance, and since your the fastest, we are going to put the fastest one at the last station. So that means it's mainly up to you to pick up our slack." Sam told her.

"I'll go first." Mandy said.

"Okay, Mandy, then Jesse and since I'm faster then these two, I'll go third and hopefully with the two fastest at the final stations, we might be able to win this thing." Sam finished.

"Wait! why am I second and not third? I'm faster then Sam by a long shot!" Jesse proclaimed.

"Shut up." Said Mandy.

"K." Jesse said disappointed.

Locklin started to announce the teams.

In Yellow is Team Saber!

In Red is Team Lareaux!

In Blue we have Team Onyx!

And in Green we have Team Bishop!

It was as if everyone in the house and the other parts of the field came to watch the main event. All the teams were then instructed to walk towards the centre of the track. Rosalie could hear people chanting for their home teams and she could hear people talking about Team Bishop. There were whispers in the crowd about Sam and his white wolf.

"Where is she?"

"That's Sam bishop."

"I heard she's fast."

These were just some of the things she could make out. Locklin grabbed the attention of everyone one last time.

"Contestants!..................Shift!" He yelled.

One by one they started shifting into their wolf. She heard Locklins voice in her head.

"You got this Rosalie! kick their asses." He said.

Rosalie closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. She let the cold crisp air fill her lungs and envisioned her wolf. She felt a warm sensation take over her body and then shifted into her wolf. She heard a calm come over the crowd as they were fixated on her.

"That's her."

"That's the white wolf."

"What's her name again?"

Again she could here all sorts of banter from within the crowd.

"Hey." Sam's voice interrupted. "You got this.....now let's have some fun."

She nodded to him before she took off with the other teams members to the final station. It was about a 15 minute sprint till she reached her post. She stood there waiting in anticipation. She looked over to the other teams that were lined up in a row. They just looked at her and gave her snarky looks. She then heard the shot of the starting gun and got ready.

.............

After shifting Mandy took her position at the starting line. She bared her hind legs into the stiff dirt to give more leverage for her take off.

"Get Ready!.......Set!"...... Then they heard the shot. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

She took off with the baton in her mouth. It wasn't a far distance she had to make to get to Jesse. She had to make it clear across the field, where Jesse would be waiting in the tree line. She glanced over to others who left her station and it looked like they picked their fastest to start off with. They had a small lead, and tried to pick up the pace. She could see Jesse tap dancing in the distance. She didn't bother to slow down and almost crashed into him while trying to hand off the baton. He ended up dropping the baton in the process and the others were able to distance themselves further.

He quickly picked it up and zipped through the bare trees. At some point players were slipping on the leaves that were laying on the ground, and Jesse was able to close the distance between two opponents, but one still had the lead. He could see Sam at the next station, and did his best to pass the baton without repercussions. The transition went smooth and Sam took off towards Rosalie's station. Team red was in the lead and Sam's was currently in second.

Rosalie could see Sam approaching, and got herself ready. He slowed down towards the end to pass her the baton, but the two wolves trailing behind him slipped and crashed into Sam and another opponent. Rosalie scurried to find the baton that got lost during the crash. Sam quickly found it and passed it to her. She took off like lightening. She fell behind two of the other teams because of the fall, and had space to fill. Each stride she took, she pushed off the ground as hard as she could. They popped out of the tree line, and she could see the finish line at the centre of the field where Mandy was.

"Comon comon!" Mandy voiced transferred.

"Go Rosalie go!" Yelled Locklin.

She grunted, and felt the warmth radiate throughout her body. She pushed hard, and found her self approaching second place. The wolf in first took the opportunity to look behind and saw the white wolf everyone was talking about.

"Fuck! She's fast." He thought to himself.

He pushed himself to the limit, and then as he was closing in on the finish line a white blurr surpassed him taking first place.

"Ahhhhhh you did it!!" Mandy screamed.

Rosalie looked over at the shifter that almost took first place. He had already shifted back to his human form and was sprawled out on the ground panting so hard it looked like he was dieing.

Sam and Jesse came rushing towards her and could be heard yelling through the mind transfer. The crowd went ecstatic, and were chanting Bishop, Bishop Bishop! It was an amazing feeling, one that wouldn't soon be forgotten. Rosalie's head was filling up with all sorts of voices from others congratulating her and telling her how awesome she was. Then a shrilling whisper filled her head.

~~~Traitor~~~~
Her head kept filling up with 100s of mind transfers, but this one had her looking around for the source.
"Alright, lright everybody calm down." Yelled Locklin. "Congratulations to team Bishop. What a day to end the tournaments! Now! We will continue the rest of the evening with food and drink. So please everyone, act responsible, and tomorrow on our final day of celebration we will be holding a dance."
Everyone cheered as his speech came to an end.
"You did as awesome as I thought you would." Sam said to Rose.
She looked to him. "Did you hear that? Please tell me you heard it." Rose asked.
"Heard what?" Asked Mandy.
Rosalie looked at all three, who just stared at her in confusion.
"N...nevermind. Maybe I'm just hearing things." Rose said.
Sam laughed. "Okay, well then let's go back to the rooms. Perhaps Mandy you could get Rosalie some more clothes, then we can hed inside and grab something to eat."
"Sounds like a plan." Mandy responded. "We are gonna have to get some rest for the big dance tomorrow."
Rose just looked at all three of them.
"A dance!?"
