Chapter 13 

Nadia finally came to her senses and tightened her grip on her pajamas. She shifted her gaze away from James and said in a low voice, “I’ll go outside to the bathroom to take a shower. I’ll sleep on the couch later.” 

James rubbed his hair with a towel and tossed it onto the bedside table. He said expressionlessly, “Suit yourself, but I gotta remind you not to let Grandma find out.” 

Daisy was there to supervise them, and James didn’t want to be threatened by her again. After all, Daisy said she would hang herself in front of his room if he didn’t listen to her. 

“Okay.” 

Nadia responded and held onto her pajamas With her right hand on the doorknob, she pulled the door open. 

As the door opened, Nadia saw Daisy holding a plate. Daisy almost fell and dropped the plate into the room. 

Nadia was startled and exclaimed. “Mrs. Howe, what are you doing here?” 

Daisy smiled unabashedly and said. “I wanted to offer you some fruit.” 

Nadia glanced at the plate in Daisy’s hand. Only a small piece of dragon fruit was left on the plate, about the size of a thumb. Nadia jokingly asked with a smile, “Mrs. Howe, are you sure you’re offering us fruit?” Her eyes were fixed on the plate in Daisy’s hand. 

“Well… 1 accidentally finished it.” 

She couldn’t possibly say that she was there listening through the wall, checking if her grandson and granddaughter–in–law had had their wedding night. 

James looked at his grandmother at the door, shook his head, and thought, “Don’t you think you are just lying right to my face, Grandma?” 

Daisy looked at the pajamas in Nadia’s hands and finally realized something. She raised her voice and asked with a puzzled expression. “Nadia, what are you doing with these?” 

Nadia looked down at the pajamas in her hands and answered truthfully, “Taking a bath.” 

Daisy frowned. “Doesn’t this room have a bathroom? Why do you have to go outside?” 

“Well… Mr. Howe was just using it, so I thought there must be a bathroom outside, and I wanted to go there, Nadia answered in a guilty and soft voice. 

Daisy glanced at her grandson sitting on the bed reading, saying, “James has already finished his shower, hasn’t he? I’ll take a shower in the bathroom outside in a little while, so you can use the one inside. Don’t come out again. It’s already late. I’m a light sleeper, and any noise will wake me up.” 

“Hmph!” Daisy scoffed inwardly. “Don’t even think about challenging me. You two are too inexperienced. I know exactly what you are up to.” 

“Okay.” 

Nadia could only turn back with her pajamas and go back to the bathroom in the room to take a shower. 

She was feeling anxious, wondering what to do next. 

Just as Nadia reached the entrance of the bathroom, she heard the sound of the door closing behind her. 

Nadia’s heart sank. It seemed that Daisy had come prepared. 

Nadia locked the bathroom door and filled the bathtub with water. 

So many things happened that day. Getting married, moving houses, now being forced into sleeping with a man she barely 

knew… 

It didn’t matter anymore. Nadia was physically and mentally exhausted, so she decided to take a hot bath first. She slowly took off her clothes and immersed herself in the steaming hot water. 

She bathed for over 20 minutes and washed her whole body with shower gel. She then put on her pajamas. As soon as she stepped out of the bathroom, she regretted it. 

Her pajamas were a short silk skirt. For comfort reasons, she never wore a bra to sleep. She glanced down and saw her feminine features clearly visible, which made her instantly blush. 

Nadia quickly let down her long wavy hair to cover the area that made her blush. She realized that she was dressed too revealingly and didn’t know where to go. She thought about going to the living room, but Daisy might still be at the door. She then thought about going to bed, but James was there, leaving her in a dilemma with nowhere to go. 

Furthermore, the atmosphere in the room was so awkward that the only thing Nadia wanted to do at the moment was tear the ground apart and jump right in. 

Chapter 13 

Although James was reading, he was absent–minded when Nadia came out of the bathroom. He had never been alone in a room with a woman dressed so scantily. 

It was still a bit cold in March. Seeing Nadia shivering at the bathroom door, he felt a bit sorry for her. 

James closed his book and asked in a deep voice. “Why are you still standing there? Aren’t you cold?” 

“I…” 

Nadia wanted to say, “Yes, I’m freaking cold! How could I not be? You’ve taken up the whole bed! Where can I go? 

James tightly pursed his lips and glanced at Nadia with his deep eyes. He didn’t care if she was going to sleep or not, and it wasn’t him who was feeling cold. 

Only then did Nadia go around the foot of the bed and carefully sit on the other side of the bed. 

James looked at Nadia up and down and disdainfully said. “Look at your figure. You have neither sexy breasts nor a fine ass. I’m not interested in you at all.” 

Nadia’s face turned red upon hearing those words. No one had ever commented on her figure like that before. In college, she was considered a campus belle. Although she wouldn’t dwell on her past glory, she didn’t think her figure was that bad. But in front of this man, she suddenly became a woman with “neither sexy breasts nor a fine ass.” 

Seeing that Nadia didn’t say anything, James said in a deep voice, “Don’t worry. I won’t take advantage of you until you agree.” 

After speaking, he got off the bed and took out a thin blanket from the wardrobe, twisted it into a rope, and placed it in the middle of the big bed. 

“This is our boundary. This blanket is the dividing line. You can’t cross it, just like me.” 

After speaking, he took out a quilt from the closet and threw it to Nadia’s side. 

Only then did Nadia realize that James had changed into a set of plaid pajamas while she was taking a bath. 

Nadia quickly pulled open the quilt and got into bed. She felt so embarrassed. This might have been the most embarrassing day in her entire life. 

She had even lost her toothbrush, so she wouldn’t be able to brush her teeth. No, the first thing she would do when she woke up tomorrow was to buy a set of pajamas, the kind with long sleeves, and some toiletries. 

At first, Nadia was worried that James would do something to her. After all, she was not supposed to get so close to a man she had known for a day. But it seemed that she was overthinking it. He didn’t even find her figure attractive. 

Thinking of that, Nadia fell asleep without a care in the world. 

Meanwhile, James struggled to fall asleep. He had been sleeping alone since he was three years old. After 25 years, suddenly having someone next to him made it difficult for him to fall asleep. 

Moreover, sleeping side by side with someone and smelling the faint scent of jasmine emanating from the woman made it even harder for him to sleep. 

Nadia soon entered dreamland and dreamed of that scene again. 

A little boy was running desperately in front, and she was chasing after him. No matter how hard she tried to catch up with. him, she was always just a little bit behind. She desperately tried to grab the boy’s arm, wanting to see what he looked like. But as soon as the boy turned around, his face became blurry. She rubbed her eyes and tried to open them wider but to no avail. 

Well… Forget about it 

Finally, she managed to grab his arm, and it didn’t matter if she could see him clearly. 

Nadia tightly held his arm in her embrace. Feeling the warmth of the arm she was holding, she hugged it even tighter and rubbed her little face against it. 

Finding herself a comfortable position, Nadia fell into a deep sleep. 

James was already having trouble sleeping. Just as he turned over, a long, slender leg pressed heavily against his waist. 

He furrowed his brows. “Why is this woman so restless in her sleep?” he wondered. 

He was about to use his hand to move her leg away when she directly hugged his arm, even tighter. Her whole body then pressed against him, and he saw the woman in front of him rub against his chest, find a comfortable position, and continue to sleep soundly. 

To begin with, he was desperately trying to fall asleep, but now it seemed even more impossible for him to do that.
