Chapter Twenty-Three – The Solution

Anna, we will not tell everyone who you really are. I don’t want to put you at risk of retaliation by any of the wolves who have suffered losses at the hands of your former pack, but all ranking wolves will be made aware, and we will be watching you.”

The smile slips from her face, but she nods.

“This isn’t being done to punish you, you would not be allowed to stay with us if we truly thought you meant us harm, but precautions have to be taken. I am not prepared to endanger any of my subjects.

In time, if you continue acting the way you have these last few days, if you prove your loyalty then you will earn our trust and we will remove these restrictions. This is an opportunity for you to make a name for yourself as someone separate and better than your father. If I didn’t believe you could do this then I wouldn’t be offering you this chance.

“Thank you” she says softly. “I could not ask for more, I am grateful that you are willing to give me a chance. I will do everything possible to prove you right, and to be worthy of my mate.”

“Good” I tell her with a smile. “Now I will leave you both to celebrate.”
