Sebastian laid down for his Knight Sleep. Always a little nervous about becoming nearly immobile in slumber.

Thus, when he was jolted awake by the movement of his large bed, he tensed. Unconsciously grabbing the shadow on the bed and rolling it beneath him as he readied to attack. Gold eyes glowing viciously and black markings along his shoulders and chest preparing to unleash.

He found himself staring into Elsabet’s dark blue eyes. Filling with unshed tears.

She lay still beneath him, face in shocked fear.

“Elsabet?” He relaxed, leaning back on an elbow, to give her space. “What’s wrong? Why have you come to me?”

Without a word, she rolled to her side to curl against his chest. Slipping a hand over his side and around his bare back to cling to him.

“Elsabet?” He said softly. Hands hovering as he debated how to touch her without scaring her way. Seeing her need, he relaxed to his side and slipped an arm under her before dropping to his back and scooping her closer. Embracing her. Cradling the back of her head and tucking her face more firmly into his shoulder. “You’re shivering.”

She sniffled hard and he felt the damp flow against his skin.

For the first time, Bast realized the depth of pain binding her to the castle caused her. Pain I caused. He realized now how badly he’d wounded her.

“I’m sorry Elsabet. I-I…”

“Why? To amuse yourself?” She sniffled. Tucking her face into his chest.

“No! Never.” He shook his head. “Truthfully, I can no longer imagine being here without you. You make my days.”

“What?” She turned her damp face up to see him.

He tilted back to accommodate her. “You make me smile. Even when you’re angry. I get excited to see you. I miss your face and voice.”

“But the other women…”

“No!” He cried out. Half-relieved he could finally confront the issue at hand. “There has not and will not be another woman. You have me. I’m all wrapped up in you.”

“There’s no one else?”

“No.” He laughed. “I haven’t the time to invest. I’m too busy rushing back here to you.”

“But I saved you…And as thanks you imprisoned me. Again.”

He cringed. “I know…” He said forlornly. Unsure what excuse to offer.

There’s really no acceptable reason for my selfishness.

“I’m sorry it hurts you.” He whispered.

“But not sorry you imprison me still?”

“I don’t think I’m capable of being sorry for keeping you close to me.”

She nodded against him. Strangely, seeming to understand. “I think if I could imprison you and keep you close to me, I would.”

That stunned him. He’d no idea how to respond. So, he pressed her closer to him. Soon falling asleep with her comfortably held there.

Bast felt the warmth of soft lips and damp kisses along his flesh. Felt his body heat with rare warmth. Hands instinctively moving to encourage the pleasant sensations working along his chest and down his abdomen. Feeling the movement of hair caressing along his hip and small pert breasts dragging along his body.

He jerked awake. Surprised. “Elsabet?”

She lifted blue eyes to look at him and he realized there was no hint of sleep there.

She hasn’t rested this whole time. Just laid next to me. He was strangely touched she’d wanted to be near him.

“Are you trying to seduce me?”
