17: Evil Intentions and Almost Deaths

ADRIANA'S POV

"Aiden!" I called out, tears streaming down my face.

The guards turned around and looked at me in shock, but I didn't care about them. I was looking at the locked door in front of me, I couldn't really see the inside and it made my anxiety skyrocket. I had no idea what they were doing to him in there.

"What are you doing here?" The guards asked, their eyes filled with surprise.

"Please, Miss,” one of them said, his voice shaking. "You have to leave. It's not safe here.”

I hesitated, my heart racing with fear. I knew that I should leave, that I should get as far away from there as soon as possible before Xander was notified. But I couldn't leave Aiden behind. He was in danger, and I couldn't abandon him.

"I can't leave,” I said, my voice firm. "I won't leave Aiden here. He needs my help.” The guards looked at me with desperation in their eyes.

"Miss, please,” one of them begged. "You can't help him. Donavan will kill you both if you stay. You have to leave while you still can.” I bit my lip, torn between my sense of duty and my survival instincts. "The order is from Alpha Xander. Please do not interfere.”

"Please, let me see him," I pleaded with the guards, my heart racing with fear and desperation. "I just want to make sure he's okay.” The guards looked at me sympathetically, but they didn't move. "I'm sorry, miss," one of them said, his voice gentle. "But the Alpha has ordered that he be locked up. We can't let you see him."

"But I demand that I see him!" I cried out, tears streaming down my face. The guards looked at each other, uncertain. I could see the conflict on their faces, and I knew that they wanted to help me. "Please," I begged, my voice shaking with exaggerated emotion. "You have to let me see him." The guards looked at each other again, and then one of them nodded.

"Okay," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "You can see him, but you have to be quick. And you can't tell anyone that we let you in."

As I walked into the cell, the sight that greeted me was horrific, almost immediately bile rose up to my throat. I pushed the feeling down and tried to run to him, but my feet refused to move.

Aiden was lying on a table, his body writhing in pain as the torturer worked on him.The torturer was using a variety of instruments, each one more cruel and twisted than the last. I watched as blood dripped from Aiden’s wounds, and I could hear his pained moans echoing off the walls. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I couldn't stand to see him suffering like this, and I knew that I had to do something. I rushed forward and grabbed the torturer's arm, pulling him away from Aiden. "Stop!" I yelled, my voice shaking with emotion. "Leave him alone!" The torturer looked at me with a sneer, his eyes filled with hatred.

"You have no right to interfere,” he spat, trying to pull away from me. I held on tight, determined to protect Aiden.

"I won't let you hurt him anymore," I said, my voice strong and resolute. "I won't let you kill him." The torturer laughed in jest and sneered at me again, but he finally relented and stepped away from Aiden.

I breathed a sigh of relief, my heart racing with emotion. I had saved Aiden, at least for now. But I knew that the fight wasn't over yet. He collapsed to the ground, and I rushed to his side, cradling his head in my lap.

"Aiden," I whispered, tears streaming down my face. "What have they done to you?"

He looked up at me, his eyes filled with pain. "Adriana," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "You shouldn't be here. It's not safe. Leave immediately.”

I shook my head, determined to help him. "I don't care," I said, brushing back the tears. I was startled from behind by a sudden, dark aura that sent shivers down my spine. I froze, my heart racing with fear as I turned to see who was behind me.

To my horror, I saw Donavan standing there, his face twisted with anger and hatred. His eyes were dark and cold, malevolence radiated off of him in waves, filling every corner of the small room. He was talking to the guards, his voice low and menacing, and I could see the fear in their eyes as they cowered before him.

"Adriana?" I heard Aiden's weak voice from behind. "Run!" It registered but I could do nothing as the evil aura emanating from him made me freeze in fright.

"What have you done?" he spat, his eyes narrowed into slits. "How could you let her in here?" The guards stammered, their voices shaking with fear.

"What have you done?" he growled, his voice filled with menace. "Why is he still alive?" He snapped, shooting Aiden a scornful glare. The guards looked at him nervously, their faces pale with fear. "We-we were ready to carry out your orders,” one of them stammered, his voice shaking with fear. "B-but she stopped us.”

Donavan's face twisted into a snarl, and he took a step towards the guards, his fists clenched at his sides.

"You fools!" he spat, his voice dripping with hatred. "I told you to kill him! And now look at what you've done!"

The guards cringed at his words, their faces filled with fear and desperation.

"We're sorry, sir,” one of them said, his head bowed. "We didn't know what to do. She insisted on seeing him, and we couldn't say no.”

Donavan sneered at them, his lip curling in disgust.

"You fools," he spat, his voice dripping with contempt. "You'll pay for this. You'll all pay.” As Donavan lunged at them, his fingers suddenly transformed into claws. I could see the sharp, deadly points glinting in the dim light, and I knew that I was in grave danger. Before I could even scream, Donavan had lunged at the guards, his claws flashing through the air. I heard their cries of pain and fear as he tore into them, his eyes blazing with hatred.

In an instant, it was all over. The guards lay dead at Donavan's feet, their bodies mutilated and bloodied.

Donavan turned to me, a triumphant sneer on his face.

"You see what happens to those who defy me?" he hissed, his voice dripping with venom. "You're next, my dear. You'll pay the price for your insolence.” I backed away as soon as the last word left his lips, my heart racing with fear. I had to escape, no matter what the cost.

I turned and ran, my heart racing with fear as I fled down the corridor. I had to find a way to stop Donavan before it was too late. I ran for the entrance, my feet pounding against the cold, damp floor of the dungeon with Donavan right behind me, his claws extended and ready to strike. I didn't look back. I just kept running, my heart pounding in my chest. I knew that my only chance was to outrun him, to escape his grasp and find a way to safety. And as I ran, I prayed that I would make it out alive. I could feel the evil emanating from him.

"And as for you," he snarled, his voice dripping with venom. "You'll pay the price for your defiance. You'll regret the day you were born."

I took a step back, my heart racing with fear. My mind and whole nervous system registered that I was in grave danger, adrenaline burst through my blood streams, my flight or fight instinct kicking in anew. But before I could move, Donavan lunged at me, his eyes blazing with malice. I knew that I was doomed, and I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the worst.

The sound of Donavan's footsteps behind me grew louder and louder as he approached. I had to get away from him before it was too late, I forced my legs to start moving again. I ran down the corridor, my heart pounding in my chest as I tried to escape. The sound of Donavan's steps getting closer sounded scary and promising of doom. He was almost right behind me.

Something urged me to turn and look back, my heart racing with fear as I saw him striding towards me, his face twisted with hatred and rage. He didn't bother hiding the evil in his eyes, and I knew that I was done for if he got me. I had to get away from him before he did something even more terrible.

It was too late, and Donavan reached out and grabbed me. His hands wrapped around my throat as he began to squeeze. I gasped for air, my vision going black as I struggled to break free. But Donavan was too strong, and I knew that I was going to die. Dots danced in my vision, my lungs feeling thought. I knew I was going to die, I could feel my body giving up the fight. Just as I was about to lose consciousness, I heard a roar and immediately Donavan's grip on me loosened. I collapsed to the ground, my breath coming in ragged pants as I tried to catch my breath.

When I looked up, I saw Donavan standing over another guard, his face twisted with anger and hatred.

"You will pay for what you've done," he growled, his voice filled with rage. "You fool, I strictly warned you to let nobody inside.” And with that, he lifted the guard off the ground and threw him across the room, his body crashing into the wall with a sickening thud.

Donavan killed the guards mercilessly, he was like a monster, unhinged and seeking blood. I felt a wave of fear wash over me. I had never seen such violence before, and I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. I tried to back away, but my feet seemed rooted to the spot. I couldn't move, couldn't even scream. I was frozen with terror, my heart racing in my chest.

As Donavan turned to me, his eyes blazing with hatred, I knew that I was next. I was going to die, just like the guards. He lunged at me, his claws extended and ready to strike. And I was trapped, with nowhere to run.

I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the worst. I opened my eyes, expecting to see the cold, empty void of death. But instead, I saw Donavan's face hovering over me, his eyes blazing with hatred. "You thought you could escape me, didn't you?" he sneered, his voice dripping with venom. "Well, you were wrong. I'm going to kill you, just like I killed those guards.” I tried to back away, but I was trapped, my body pinned to the ground.

I tried to force my lips apart and even plead for my life, no words made it out. Only a small whimper as my body racked with sobs. It seemed to be the only thing I could do.

Donavan released a dark chuckle, a cold and cruel sound that sent shivers down my spine.

"You," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "You dared to defy me, to go against my orders. And for that, you will pay the ultimate price.” I closed my eyes, waiting for the pain. For her ultimate ending.

I thought of my father and brothers, wondering what they would say if they heard of my death. They'll probably laugh and call me stupid, useless girl that couldn't keep herself alive for even three days. They will also be happy, at least they didn't have to live with by the knowledge that such a failing was related to them

My eyes were still closed, I felt nothing wondering what was taking so long. I snapped my eyes open, barely, as Donavan's grip on me loosened. He straightened up. Now towering over me with an evil glint in his eyes.

"But I won't kill you," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Not yet, at least. I have a better idea.” He bent down and whispered in my ear, his voice low and menacing. "I'll tell Xander that I caught you with your lover,” he said, his voice dripping with malice. "And then, I'll let him decide your fate. I'm sure he'll be delighted to know that his precious mate is nothing more than a traitorous whore.”

I gasped, shaking my head, my heart raced with fear and disgust. Donavan was trying to turn Xander against me, so he could kill Aiden and me. I looked up at him, realizing more and more how powerless I was. Right now, I was at his mercy, and there was nothing I could do to escape his grasp. He played me, I'm only just realizing now.

I closed my eyes, praying for a miracle. But in my heart, I knew that there was no hope. Donavan had me in his evil clutches, and there was no escape.

He walked out, leaving me there. I didn’t need anyone to tell me I was in deep trouble. Donavan was going to lie against me, and Xander would easily believe him.

I didn't know what exactly he would tell him, but it wouldn't be good.

Even if I did nothing, I had betrayed his trust by coming here and I knew that he would never forgive me.
