The boy was wide-eyed with fascination as his mother finished telling the story.

“So, Micklang risked his life to save his friends and ended up dying in the end. That’s so sad. But where does grandma come into all of this?” The boy asked.

“She was Emily, the ‘lazy’ zoo-keeper that let Micklang escape.” The mother replied. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“But what happened to her? She did come back, but now she’s disappeared again. Has she gone back to Frieyon?”

“I guess we’ll never find out. But I’ll give you something that was given to her when she was still in Frieyon. This is Micklang’s sword, it is said that whoever wields it wields the power to enter the world of Frieyon whenever they want to, or whenever someone from Frieyon needs help.” The mother explained, showing the boy a shiny, well-kept sword she kept in a belt.

“This was Micklang’s own sword? Wow!”

“It was his, but now it’s yours. Use it wisely, my darling.”

“Oh, I will mum. Thank you. By the way, who were the figures you mentioned earlier, the ones that Frebil joined up with in the end?”

“Well, you can find out, all you have to do is go into Frieyon and find Lord Libertas, I’m sure he’ll want to talk to you.”

“Oh, ok. Maybe I will sometime. But right now, I think I’ll go to sleep. G’night, Mum.” The boy said, heading for his tent.

“Goodnight, darling. And thank you for listening to my story.”

For a moment, the boy was confused. His mum had told him it was her mother’s story, but then he shrugged and got into his tent, coming to the conclusion that his mum had made a mistake.

The lady chuckled silently and looked back into the sky, seeing a shooting star pass. “Guide my darling through all his life and adventures, dear Micklang. I will never forget you, my friend.” Emily sighed happily as she packed up her belongings and got into her own tent, only just witnessing the change in the stars. There, staring down at her and smiling, was Micklang Lightning-tail shaped in the stars. Emily blew an imaginary kiss at the spirit and chuckled again. “Thank you, Micklang Lightning-tail.”

And that would have been the end of the story if, as Emily settled down to sleep, her son hadn’t opened his eyes and looked at the sword that Emily gave to him.

Reaching for the sword, he held it tightly and spoke exactly four words.

“Take me to Frieyon.”

The light flashed through the forest, and the boy was gone.

But that is a story for another time.
