I watched him give me a short nod, not once questioning how I knew this. “Everyone, stop what you’re doing, and don’t move!”

I dropped the veil of invisibility and walked towards Sonny still holding my mates hand. We broke the spell and stepped towards her. “Well, hello, Ruby. Fancy meeting you here. Now, what have you been up to? Spelling me to your will?”

“Well, yeah, you idiot. How did you know it was me?” Ruby asked hatefully.

“My mate actually caught you. Maybe you should have made sure you weren’t seen when you spelled everyone, well, except for ones who fought your spell,” I answered calmly, pissing her off even more.

I stepped back and looked her up and down. I caught movement from behind her. But, before I could move...

Windy’s POV

But, before I could move she was already gone. “What in the hell just happened?”

“I believe she disappeared, sister,” my brother calmly stated.

“Ha-ha!” I rolled my eyes. “No, really, what just happened? How did the vampyre get here and take her at the same time?” I asked with a hint of disbelief in my voice.

“I will find out-” Sonny trailed off as he let the order go and a big crash sounded.

“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! What the hell?” I heard from behind me. I rolled my eyes and turned around to see who was crashing our party.

I started laughing when I saw who it was. I might have snorted a few times too but I was enjoying the cursing coming from his mouth. I leaned over and patted my dad’s shoulder. “Can I assume my other dad will be here too?”

I helped my father out of the hole he made in the middle of the hallway. “Yeah…”

I turned around quickly and grabbed whoever was behind me, pulling them closer and squeezing their neck. “Hey, Windy, it’s only m-me,” my other dad, Zane, told me as he choked, wheezing dramatically.

I shook my head and chuckled, releasing my dad's throat. “The rest of you can come out of shadows now,” I amusingly said without looking around me. I rolled my eyes when my mother, Trace, Chase, Ander, and Asher showed up.

I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest. “Ares, please meet my family.” I rolled my eyes again. “Family, this is my mate. And, no, you will not try and intimate him.” I narrowed my eyes at my parents.

I watched as my mother walked up and hugged Antares. “Welcome to the family,” my mother whispered to my mate. “But, if you hurt her at any time, you will have all of us on your ass, got it?”

“Mom,” I whined. “I told you to leave him alone. You know I would never let someone disrespect me.”

“Ma’am, I would never hurt or put down my mate. I may be new to being a wolf but so is your daughter. I would trade my life for hers,” my mate solemnly promised as my eyes widened. Did he know he made a promise? Did he understand he made a promise he couldn’t back out of at any cost? I wasn't losing my mate if someone does get their hands on me. I couldn't do it. I could take care of myself. I even had a guard. Oh, Goddess, please keep him safe.

“Did someone call my name,” my grandmother cheekily asked, causing a chuckle to escape from my mouth.

Ares bowed low to the Moon Goddess as she was walking towards him. She pulled him up and held his hand as she walked over to us, whispering through our mind to follow her. I guess she didn’t want anyone to hear our conversation.

We followed my grandma down the hall, but I was up in my head about what Ares promised. I was worried he would jump in front of me to keep me safe. But, he didn't understand I wouldn't let anything happen to him. We needed to work together and maybe spar with each other. I didn't want him to worry about me and put himself in harm's way when he didn't need to.

We walked into Sonny’s office as we checked for bugs and spelled the room to make sure no one could hear us. Our grandma turned around and looked at Ares, smiling. “I’m your mate’s grandmother.” Ares gasped and turned to look at me as I nodded. “It’s a pleasure to meet the man who will take care of Windy. Now, considering you're her mate you will be receiving powers, too. But, since you’ve had too much pain in your life, your powers will not hurt you, well, unless it’s a headache. Your wolf, Antares, will help you through it. I know you have already received one of your gifts. You can see through any illusions.”

“Cool!” my brothers, Trace, and Chase, exclaimed as they high fived Ares as he chuckled at their antics.

“I need to get back to my domain but know I will be watching you. The time is nigh,” my grandmother, the Moon Goddess, said cryptically as she opened her mind to us.

I saw Ares shake his head. “What was that?”

“Welcome to our weird family. That was the Moon Goddess helping us when she was told no. We can never speak about what she showed us, understand? My dad, Blaine, explained as Ares nodded.

“Yes, sir.” Ares put his arm around me and kissed my head, causing my heart to beat faster and me to blush. His arms felt nice around me and the tingles were giving me a buzz. His smell was intoxicating. Who needed alcohol when all I had to do was smell my mate. I finally understood the mating business everyone talked about. I thought it all bullshit, but boy was I wrong.

“W-we need to g-go about our business,” I stuttered, clearing my throat twice. I wanted to spend time with my mate before all the bullshit started. No, I needed to spend time with my mate.

“Go on, you two,” Sonny ordered. I didn’t think he realized he ordered us, but then again he could have known what he was doing to get us out of his office. I smiled at him and nodded my head as I walked out.

“All of your siblings are male?” Ares asked, his voice a little wobbly.

I figured I would mess with Ares for a few minutes, helping him to loosen up. ’Nah, I have four sisters and more brothers along with their mate or mates,” I slyly told him, a grin on my face.

“Older brothers?”

I looked at him innocently, snorting after a few seconds. “Yeah, but it’s my sister’s Autumn and Winter you need to worry about.” I laughed so hard I was snorting and holding my stomach.

I opened the door to the Beta’s room and stopped. “What the hell?” I angrily growled.
