Sinclair Fief, 3rd day of Primrose the year 512, Deirdren Empire, Winter

Drew paced the floor of library, his agitation clear. He had thought that he had this stupid girl wrapped around his finger, but she still would not agree to marriage, and what was he supposed to do, force her to love him? She swore that she did, so why wasn’t it working? Where all the stories lies? He felt bile rise in his throat as fear began to creep in. It was impossible. She had begun to act suspicious around him, and he could feel that he was wasting time. Without her willingly giving her heart up, there was no other way. It pained him to turn her to stone, he really did not want to waste such a valuable resource. She would turn to stone, like her predecessor, and he would be left with nothing once she was drained. He needed a way to make her as powerful as possible, so she would last for a few thousand years like Regina, her other predecessor. She would never have a child of his, since he was infertile, or he would have another fae to enslave. Being alive if he had would do that to you. She was the last of the Fae. He needed her. Regardless of how. If she would not love him enough to give up her heart in the literal sense, then he will find another way to steal her power. Turning to a wall of old scrolls, he pulled one down with an obsidian tip, and began to read.

Kora reigned her horse in, looking around the faded courtyard of Fief Sinclair. Drew had been distant lately, and she was worried she might be losing her only supporter. Terrified of being alone, she had braved the trip through the winter snows. Her soldiers dismounted and took her reins, she walked forward and was greeted by the steward, Terrance had since taken a position at Fief Sinclair, and he greeted Kora warmly.

“Your majesty, what a pleasant surprise, please come inside and warm yourself, I will let Master SInclair know you have arrived safely. Kora walked into the warm sitting room and took her gloves off to warm her hands by the fire. Truthfully, she came to talk to him about his proposal of marriage. She had long felt that Drew had a secret of some sort. She felt that he may be holding back in his true affections. The last year or so, Drew had been working closely with a female mage on discovering secrets of the Men of the Grey. They had made great head way, but it led to a lot of long nights, pouring over scrolls and ancient texts alone. Her name was Amalia, and she was a stunner, with curly blond hair and brown eyes. Kora felt that Drews’ proposal had been for her position, and not genuine affection. She wanted to make a connection with him, and she had an idea. She had been debating for a while and decided that they needed guidance. There was a way for her to reach back in time, to her ancestors. They could give them insight on the origins of the Men of the Grey, and that could help them end this for all. With the end of the war, she could fully commit to Drew, and accept his proposal. Just then, Drew walked in, and they hugged each other, and shared a sweet kiss. Too brief for Kora’s liking. They sat down to talk, and Kora shared her ideas with him. Drew was stunned.

“You can call them? Just … just like that?” He seemed doubtful.

“Well, no not just like that, it must be the day the last fae died, and it must be in the cave of the fae. Where they first entered the physical world.” Drew’s face grew excited, and there was a strange gleam in his eye. A moment of apprehension and regret shivered up her spine. It was gone as soon as Drew jumped up in excitement.

“Do you know what this means Kora? If we could know how the Men of the Grey started, it could give us the key to undoing their whole operation!” Pleased that she had made him so happy with her revelation, they started drafting plans. Drew, inside was thrilled. It would put Kora at her most powerful as she turned to stone. Connecting to her ancestors would make all her pathways open. And all the Fae from the past would be moving through her. This was the time to trap her in stone. Smiling into Koras face, he stroked her cheek, his hand stopping to rest over her heart.

“You really are amazing Kora. We will be together forever. Your heart belongs to me.” She leaned forward to kiss him, and Drew knew he had her then. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ ꜰindNʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
