Gamma Jose Gomez - POV

“I am confused, man. I don't know what to do.” I finally told him the reason that was within my heart. I took my glass of scotch and down it in one go, hoping that it would ease the pain in my heart.

“What are you confused about?” Dylan asked me when I finally looked up at him. I got up from the place and moved to his liquor cabinet, pulled out two random bottles of wine, and made my way back to my place.

“I have started falling in love with Adella,” I mumbled. When the words came out, the entire scenario became real for me. I have finally admitted that I have feelings for her.

“Well, isn't that a good news?” Dylan asked me with a raised eyebrow before he leaned back in his chair. “I mean, this doesn't even cause any problems for us,” he explained, but I shook my head. I know this would not cause any problems for the pack, but I don't think this has decreased my fears.

“You know what happened with my parents, and I am afraid that the same thing will repeat again,” I said, and I noticed that he was starting to get annoyed with me.

“Tell me one thing clearly. Do you want Adella or Elena?” he asked me the question that I had been asking myself for the past few weeks. Honestly speaking, I still don't have an answer to that.

“If I chose Elena, I would be betraying my destined mate, and if I chose Adella, wouldn't that seem like I had been using Elena only for my personal reasons all this time?” I asked him, and he had a thoughtful look on his face.

“This is about your life, Jose. And as a best friend, I can only tell you to go and take a solitary walk outside, think about this, and come and meet me later, and I will tell you what I have in mind, and then you can decide,” Dylan advised me, and got up from his place. “Because I can not give my opinion when you do not have a clear view of your feelings,” he said, and I nodded my head, and got up from my place.

“I will meet you later, man,” I told him, grabbed the bottle of scotch, and walked out of the pack house. When I stepped outside, a gust of cold wind swept past me, making me look up at the sky. The sun was getting ready to retire for the day, and I took this chance and walked into the forest.

I walked deeper into the forest till I came to a stop near a tree and sat down on the ground. I opened the bottle of scotch and started drinking while my mind drifted to a conversation that I had with Elena a long time back.

“How do you like this place?” Elena asked me while her eyes were glued to the magnificent sunset at a distance. We were both seated on a blanket with a glass of wine.

“It's beautiful,” I said, but I wasn't paying much attention to the sunset.

“This used to be our favorite place when we were small.” she began, and this made me confused for a while. “My mate and I.” she clarified, and I only nodded my head. Elena was a widow since her mate died in a pack war just two years before I met her. I never knew much about her and her mate, and I never bothered to ask about that either.

Elena and I instantly connected with each other when I came to her pack on a business trip, that was the period when I recently lost my mother, and she had lost her mate. We were still friends until a year later, I proposed to her.

“Do you still miss him?” I asked her, and she nodded her head.

“It's not easy to forget about your other half, but I am trying to move forward.”

“Do you want to talk about it?” I asked her, and she nodded her head.

“He was my best friend since kindergarten. And I guess the only friend I had till I finished high school. Well, everyone would have this secret desire within them, hoping that maybe their best friend would be their mate, and I too had the same feelings.” she said, and I noticed a blissful smile on her face. “A few months after he turned eighteen, he left for college and only came back after three years.”

“Three years after your eighteenth birthday?” I asked her, and she nodded her head.

“But when I first opened my door to let him in, I realized that he was my mate.”

“It must have been devastating to have lost him,” I asked her, and she nodded her head.

“I guess, I felt the loss more because he is not someone who came halfway in my life. He was a constant throughout my life,” she said, and I saw tears rolling down her cheeks. “We were perfect for one another, but I guess the moon goddess had other plans for me,” she said and turned around to face me.

“I never thought I would find love again in my life, Jose. But you brought back the color that I lost,” she whispered, and I pulled her against my body and placed a chaste kiss on her forehead.

“I will never leave you, Elena,” I promised, and this made her tighten her hand around my shirt.

“I know, and you are all I need,” she mumbled. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I kept banging my head against the tree trunk while that memory kept replaying in my mind. I never thought that the mate bond would be this powerful, and I am feeling guilty for even thinking about leaving Elena. She has lost a lot in life, and I don't think I can leave her too.

“But, hasn't Adella lost enough in her life? Hasn't she faced worse than this?” Carlos asked me.
