Ganersam Volume 1
Chapter 21

I kneeled beside her, while the sound of clashing metal could be heard from behind.

While I was trying to wake Emma up, Amel decided to take on the man again. Thanks to Emma’s buff, she could now keep up.

Her movement was a whole lot faster, and from a viewer’s perspective, you could see more strength being put into her sword.

Nia was resting on the wall of sand, and Riko was nowhere to be seen.

I really hope Riko isn’t a traitor.

I pulled Emma to the side, and let her rest beside Nia.

I pulled my dagger out.

I know I haven’t had the chance to train much, but I need to win.

In order to protect my friends...

...

Just like something a hero would say, right?

I really hope I can win this just like a real hero would.

I ran toward the man, his back facing me.

The man glanced at me and swung his sword around.

I jumped to my left, dodging his attacks while closing the distance.

He jumped further to my right side, distancing himself from me. He probably knew I was using a dagger, and was careful to not let me get close.

He took a good look at the two of us.

“We need to strike at the same time.”

Amel whispered to me. I return with a firm nod.

“Let’s go.”

We dashed toward the man. This time, I kept up my pace with Amel. Maybe striking at the exact same time would confuse him.

Realizing it was a two against one, the man gripped his sword and pulled it upwards.

With his strength, he slammed the sword onto the sand. The resulting storm pushed the two of us back.

“Damnit!”

“Keep going!”

Amel shouted. I followed her orders and continued running while trying to shake off any sand that got caught in my face.

I then split up from Amel, she took the man’s left side and I took on his right side.

Amel thrust her sword at him. The man pulled his sword up, blocking the attack.

I ran toward the man and threw my dagger at him. Still locking swords, he glanced at me.

A wall appeared from the ground. My dagger stabbed right into the wall, and got stuck

“That’s cheating!”

I yelled. The man ignored me and kicked Amel back.

Wait... isn’t it technically us who’s cheating?

But we’re the good guys, and good guys don’t cheat. If we have an unfair advantage, it would be called ‘plot armor’.

Wait, what am I thinking?

I picked up my dagger from the ground and jumped back, just in time to dodge the man’s sword which sliced through the wall.

The man looked at the two of us, and we stared back at him.

“Aren’t you going to say something!?”

The man is still silent after all this time.

Maybe I should try insulting him?

“You suck!”

Silence.

“Your sword skills are trash!”

Silence.

Say something damnit!

“Will... you’re a terrible person.”

“I don’t want that response from you, Amel!”

The man probably realized that I’m not much of a threat, and put all of his attention on Amel instead. Amel gripped her sword, preparing for the worst scenario.

Those walls must be one of the perks he got with his skills.

I may not be particularly skilled with daggers, but that throw should’ve at least hit him, if not for his annoying walls.

Wait... would the dagger do anything though? Will a sword even be effective against that armor?

I tried to run at him again, but he made a new wall, blocking my way. He formed three other walls around me, locking me in a box.

“Will!” S~ᴇaʀᴄh the Findɴovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Amel’s voice came from the other side, followed by a series of clanging sounds. The walls then started to move at me, trying to squish me in the middle.

It moved slowly, for the dramatic movie effect.

I still need to find a way out though. I looked at the walls, trying to find that one obligatory weakness that always existed in these kinds of levels.

I paid attention, then the wall’s texture caught my eye.

It looked like it was made of sand.

If the walls were made of sand, shouldn’t a powerful kick be enough to bring it down? A thrown dagger may not have the power to destroy it, but if I put all my weight into my kick, then there’s a chance...

Wait... is that even how physics worked? Does this world have the same sciences as Earth, and does it work the same way since it was created by someone with a gift?

Wait, but magic exists here, that’s already quite a huge difference.

You know what? None of that matters. I’ll just try it.

I took a step back and with all my power, kicked at the sand wall.

As expected, the wall collapsed.

I quickly ran at the two dueling figures. Amel saw me coming, and increased the speed of her attacks, trying to lock the man’s focus on her.

The man was clearly not expecting his wall to collapse so easily. He attempted to block me, but his sword was locked with Amel’s.

I ran, dashing above the sand. I jumped and swung my right foot forward.

My food landed on his back, and the extra momentum pushed him down.

Amel took a step back, narrowly dodging his falling body.

“You lost, give up.”

I moved my right foot to his head, inserting the maximum amount of dominance, while my left foot stood on his back, putting as much weight as possible.

Even if he swung his sword, I would just stab him before he gets a chance to move. Plus, with him flat on the ground, he would only be able to grip his sword with one hand. The sword had fallen a distance away on his left. He would need to reach it first.

Even if he could reached it, he still needs to wield it. Unless his left hand was strong enough to wield it alone...

Suddenly, his sword lit brightly. The silver blade shines through the darkness, and the ground starts to shake chaotically.

As I was about to stab him, a loud bang could be heard, and a small sharp metal cylinder pierced right through his helmet.

The entire surrounding collapsed, and the sword died out. Ash poured out from the hole in the man’s helmet.

I looked in the distance, and standing there was Riko, holding a sniper rifle.

Well, hewasstanding up there, right before the buildings collapsed and he fell with them.
