Ruben, however, said calmly, “I didn’t feel that way.” 

“Why? Are you planning to live alone for the rest of your life?” I asked, eating my meal and smiling.

After a while, I finally spoke up, “Did you call suddenly just to find out where I am? Why do you suspect me? You went out alone with Emilia yourself, and I didn’t question you. Frederic, how dare you question me?”
