Chapter 38 

“You guys go on. I’m leaving,” Frederic said to Tristan and dragged me away with him, holding back his anger. 

Tristan looked at me expressionlessly seeming to have figured out my 

purpose. 

Dragged by Frederic, I couldn’t catch up to him and nearly tripped 

over. 

“Frederic, what’s your problem? Would it kill you to let me get changed first?” I flared up 

He finally thought of why I asked Tristan to buy tampons for me. With a gloomy face, he took me to the ladies‘ room. “Go get changed. Do it fast!” 

I wriggled my almost bruised wrist. What a rough man. 

Emilia weighed almost the same as me. How could she stand him? 

I couldn’t help imagining her and Frederic being in bed. He had forced himself on her at first, but over time, she fell in love with him. They must be gentle and affectionate with each other in bed. 

I thought to myself, “I must’ve lost my mind. How can I picture that?” I got changed fast, expelled the scene from my head, and came out of the ladies‘ room. 

Frederic glanced at me and said, “Let’s go home.” 

He seemed to have been very much mollified. 

I sent a message to my friends in the group chat and left with Frederic, wondering what he’d say next. 

Unexpectedly, he didn’t say anything more along the way, like a driving statue. 

When we got home, he went to the study. I went to the bathroom, wanting to go to bed after a bath.

“Sylvia, we need to talk,” he said calmly. 

I nodded. 

Ten minutes later, I got his point. 

Before, he had said that we could go out with other people, but we couldn’t post updates about it in Moments, and we must keep it from our parents. Now, he told me I couldn’t date his friends. 

“Frederic, why don’t you just divorce me?” I asked, dejected. 

“I can’t find an excuse,” he said frankly before leaving. 

I had a feeling that this was about Emilia. 

Maybe he wanted me to be out of his way while he chased her. What he didn’t know was that he’d fall deep in love afterward. 

After this, Frederic disappeared. More than two weeks passed, and he still didn’t come back. 

Again, I lived like a widow. Only I had several domestic workers now. 

In the afternoon, I heard Kira speak on the phone. “You’re adults. Deal 

with your problems as adults do. Arguing and silent treatment won’t help,” she whispered, hiding below the staircase. 

Standing on the staircase, I listened. 

“Ruben is a nice kid, and he cares about you. It’ll make your dad and me happy if you two get married. Whatever the problem is, talk it through, OK?” Clearly, Kira liked Ruben. 

Did Emilia and Ruben quarrel? I counted the days and figured that Frederic must’ve tried hard during this time, or how could he have managed to make the lovebirds fall out so soon? 

I didn’t care anymore. When Frederic wanted a divorce, I’d just sign the divorce agreement directly.
