Chapter 20 ~ Do It!

President Pogue’s POV-

The oval office is in a frenzy. Pogue is throwing things.. threatening his staff.. he yells “Silas! What did you do? Get me a copy of that fucking treaty! I need to know every word it says! That gawddamned dragon played me! I won’t stand for it!”

Silas whined “It’s the girl, Mr. President! She instigated it.. involved the dragons. We will handle it.” Pogue asks “What girl? That child that escaped a year ago? That girl? How is she involved?”

Silas looks over at the man on the sofa “Hicks! You said you could handle her, when the King’s son offered to help her. What the fuck happened?”

Hicks muttered “How was I to know she was his mate? I had it arranged! I was going to mate her to Alpha Roger.. and we would all win. He would control the girl.. he would have a pack.. and I would control Luna Lake!”

Pogue said “Well that fucking backfired.. now didn’t it!? Bring me the treaty, Silas! I won’t tell you again. I have to find a way around this! That fucking video of the attack has hit over four million views, and our hackers haven’t been able to take it back down!”

Hicks said “I might have an idea on how to circumvent war, Mr. President!” Pogue sneered at him “Of course, because everything you’ve tried so far has been successful.”

Silas came back in with the treaty.. handing it to Pogue. As he sat reading it.. he huffed every now and then. Snorted a couple times.. Then he looked up. He told them “Everything he said is accurate. There has been thirteen violations that I have read so far.. the least of which being harm of any kind. They were thorough! Crimes against the supernatural include.. kidnapping.. sexual assault.. molestation. Essentially physical harm of any kind. Deliberately causing a death is an act of war. Attacking covens, hordes, enchantments, or packs.. without provocation.. an act of war! He said they are more militarized than we are.. What do we know about their defenses? Anything useful?”

Silas said “They have the same weapons as we do. But they also have magic.. powers.. witches can shield entire packs.. They utilize the same technology we do. So, an outright war would be difficult to win. There would be many casualties.”

Pogue said “Fuck! We have to find a way to subvert the supernaturals. There must be something.. chemical warfare?”

Hicks tells him “I can practically guarantee Draco already have his chemists working on antidotes for any poisons you might try. His mate is smart.. cunning. She will know everything you might try. She knows your laws inside and out.. as well as she knows our laws.”

Pogue yells “Don’t tell me I’ve lost before I began! Figure something out! I will not simply turn this country over to a bunch of freaks! Fuck that! What’s next? World dominance?”

Silas calms him.. tries placating him.. “The vampires wouldn’t allow that. They own Europe.”

Pogue screams “WHAT? If they ally with him we are fucked! Why did I not know about Vampires? The fuck?!”

Hicks said “They have a treaty.. they are allowed the entire European continent.. as long as they cause no trouble in the western hemisphere. They’re nasty creatures.. “

Pogue sighs “Okay, Hicks. You said you might have a way. What is your idea?” He shrugs and says “If you cease trying to abduct and test the supernatural species.. Draco will leave humans alone.. just so you know! My idea would be to charge her with a crime.. it has to be something she has to be tried in human court for.. once you have arrested her, you can secret her away.. where she can’t be found. But, again, that’s not a guarantee either. She is the future Queen of dragons, after all.”

Silas responds “That could work.. we could hold her hostage.. until he signs a new treaty.. one that benefits us.. make it where he can never declare war.. or retaliate against humans.. We would have him over a barrel.. forcing him to our side!”
