Chapter 22 ~ It’s a Date!

Evander’s POV ~

The press conference is set up.. and I took the first half of it. I sat in front of thirty reporters.. and asked them all to save their questions for the end.

“What I am about to tell you.. will not be addressed by the human government.. or at the very least, it will be denied. They will claim it is falsehoods and lies!

The human government, to date, have broken fourteen of the twenty conditions we agreed upon with them, over twenty years ago. On our official website, you will find an authentic copy of that treaty.

Today, they.. the human government.. tried to arrest my mate.. my wife.. on murder charges. She admitted to killing the three people she is being charged for. Those doctors.. used her from the age of thirteen, as a lab rat. They injected her with steroids.. strength enhancing adrenaline.. as well as DNA from other supernatural species. She was thirteen! This continued for five years. When they tried again.. two weeks before her eighteenth birthday, she broke free and killed them. She then rescued fifteen other supernaturals.. going through a lot of the same things she had gone through. She then destroyed the entire facility.

Had she not done what she did, the three people she killed, would most likely have killed all the other victims she rescued.. as well as dying herself. Now, ask yourselves.. what would you have done?

The United States obviously wants a war with the supernaturals. I am here to tell you.. because they will try to tell you differently, we do NOT wish harm to any humans. We are asking that you do not engage yourselves in a war with us. It is a battle you cannot win! Stay in your homes.. or leave to a secluded area. Barring that.. you are welcome to seek sanctuary with the supernaturals. We want all humans safe.

We are the ones who initiated contact two decades ago.. hoping to allay any fears you may have of our kind. We wanted to coexist in peace and harmony. This administration has decided they do not want that.”

A reporter in the back asked “How do we know this is not just propaganda being told to us by you, so you can easily win a war against us?”

I smiled and responded “We don’t need to warn you war is coming.. nor do we have to warn you to hide.. We are secure in the knowledge that we have tried to keep you safe. We did not instigate this fight. Your government did. Follow their lead.. or don’t. We know what we are capable of. It isn’t bragging, when it is fact.”

Another reporter asked “How do we humans go about asking for asylum? I know I don’t want to be involved in a war on our home soil. I have children.”

I replied “Go to our website. Details are posted for you to follow. We are doing what we can to keep you safe. My father now has something to say. Thank you for yoir patience.”

I stood up and sat beside Adrianna.. pulling her into my lap. She kissed my neck.. and promptly dozed off, making me chuckle.

Draco sat down..he immediately started talking “Here we are again. I have a request.. an odd one, so bear with me, if you will. As a show of good faith.. and to prove we have nothing to hide, I am requesting two human reporters to stay with us. Exclusivity to every aspect of our lives will be yours to report on. All we ask is that your reports are all either live.. or we be allowed to review the final edit before it airs. The reporter who had asked about sanctuary earlier asked “Could my children stay with me here?” She was told absolutely.. she smiled and nodded “I would appreciate this opportunity, King Draco.” He nodded and said “Go with the gentleman you see at the door.. He will get you all set up.”

A man in the front row asked “May my wife be able to stay?” And he was told the same thing.. and just like that, we had two human reporters.. telling our story.. live!

The conference was dismissed.. and we had settled down for dinner. Adrianna was quiet.. I asked “Are you worried, baby?” She shook her head “No. Pissed! And I don’t know what to do with it.”

I grinned and said “I can think of a way to work off that energy” wiggling my eyebrows. She giggled and said “Okay” I laughed out loud.. “It’s a date!”
