Chapter 3 ~ I Love Your Fiery Temper!

Adrianna’s POV ~

My mate? Of all times to meet my mate! Either the Goddess fucking hates me, or she has one hell of a sense of humor. I said “We need to talk” and walked out of chambers.

Evander didn’t even acknowledge the council, as he followed me out. He said “I know a little outdoor cafe’ we can grab a bite to eat and talk, undisturbed”

I nodded and it was my turn to follow him. I climbed up into his truck, and he drive to the restaurant. He chuckled as I hopped down from his truck and I asked “Oh? That’s amusing, is it? I might find it as funny watching you fold yourself into my Jeep!”

He laughed out loud at that. “Yeah.. my seven foot frame doesn’t bend that way.” I smiled “Are all dragons this huge?” Shaking his head he replied “Nope. I’m somewhat of an anomaly. I am the strongest dragon ever born.. although we have no idea why. My father was the strongest, until I came of age.. my brother isn’t as strong. I yam what I yam, I reckon.”

I giggle and told him “Yeah. Don’t do that again.. Popeye.. you ain’t “ He said “I’m surprised you caught the reference! That’s awesome!”

We sat and ordered burgers.. and I got a Coke.. he got coffee. He smiled “You start.. you want to talk.. I want to accept you. The ball is in your court.”

I told him everything the hunters lab doctors had done to me.. that I am a mix of several species.. “I can change into a fairy.. a bear.. an elf.. a jaguar.. But I am wolf, through and through. While I can tap into the powers of the other species.. only my wolf and I habitate my body. The rest are like.. umm.. spirits?.. I can invoke, at will. My wolf’s name is Sadie. She is pushing me to accept you. I am reticent.. my heart and soul are the only things the hunters couldn’t alter. In five years, I remained true to myself. Coming home to my pack, changed that. My father and brother are the only ones that want me there. They treated me like I was forever tainted because I don’t look the same..don’t act the same. I learned to protect my heart.”

He nodded at me.. then he took my hand “I don’t care what you can shift into.. you could be a bug-eyed little green alien.. you are my mate. That is what matters to me. Nothing else. I accept you, Adrianna Mosley, as my mate. I smiled at him and said “Pretty words. I hope you don’t have to eat them. Why can’t I scent you? I feel the sparks.. but the scent has thrown me off.” He released the scent he had been hiding and said “When most people smell dragon.. they run away screaming.”

I laughed “Yeah.. well.. people are stupid!” We finished our lunch, and he stepped away to take a phone call.. So, I took a moment to call Zander and Andrew to let them know I was headed home.. with a guest.

When Evander returned he said “That was my pack. My brother is my beta.. he and our Gamma will meet me at your pack, if that’s all right? My parents will watch over my pack, while we hunt.”

I nodded and asked “Question.. if I wasn’t your mate.. would you have offered to help me?” He started nodding and told me “Absolutely! I was impressed how you stood your ground.. I won’t tolerate shit from anyone.. so, I identified with your personality.”

Nodding, I told him “I want you to know I am very grateful. I have hit so many deadends that I’m ready to pull my hair out. This is the frustration my father must have felt.. looking for me.”

He smiled softly and said “I remember when you were taken.. my father was sitting council for dragons. He was refused aid, as well. I don’t remember the excuses they gave him. I’ll have to speak to Dad about that”

I snarled “Their excuses are moot! I have withdrawn my support.. should there come a time the council issues a call to arms, my pack will not stand with them!”

He grinned “I love your fiery temper!”
