Chapter 12 The Importance of Celia

Celia maintained a blank expression while internally thinking, “Apologize? Not a chance!”

She had no problem revealing the information she held soon, even if it meant. disrupting the wedding before it even started.

Celia anticipated that this incident would be forgotten in time, but she was deeply troubled by the uncertain situation.

Just as Celia was about to retrieve something from her bag, Dominic unexpectedly interjected, saying, “Since she said ‘no,‘ it means that she didn’t do

it.”

The people who had intended to pressure Celia into apologizing were taken aback because nobody expected Mr. Dawson to speak in her defense.

Natalie felt an underlying fear towards Dominic but was unwilling to let the matter be resolved this way. She couldn’t help but remark, “Mr. Dawson, don’t be fooled by her appearance, Celia has always enjoyed playing the victim and seeking sympathy from others.”

Celia remained silent as Dominic’s gaze suddenly turned towards her, seemingly examining her closely. He remarked, “It seems you truly relish playing the role. of a victim, and you’re quite skilled at it.”

Celia instantly grasped that he was alluding to how she pretended to be a loving. and gentle wife. She wondered if he had come here to settle old scores.

However, it had been six years since their divorce. It would indicate that he was at petty man if he still couldn’t let go of their unpleasant past.

After all, she had once saved his childhood sweetheart.

Celia tightened her grip on the documents in her bag, realizing that if Dominic opposed her today, her plan would face significant obstacles.

Natalie breathed a sigh of relief, assuming that Dominic would finally let the matter rest. “Celia, you should apologize to me.” she said.

“Kick both of them out,” Dominic said coldly as his gaze finally shifted away from Celia and landed on Natalie and Carl.

The unexpected turn of events stunned everyone in the room, but the hotel

security personnel quickly grasped Dominic’s intention.

They asked, “Should we escort Miss Burton and Mr. Nelson out, Mr. Dawson?”

Given that Dominic owned the hotel, it was only natural for the staff to follow his orders to kick out the unwanted guests.  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the ꜰindNʘvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Dominic coolly nodded, devoid of any visible emotion, which only heightened. the air of mystery surrounding him.

The hotel staff promptly approached Natalie and her husband and told them, “Both of you, please leave.”

The abrupt and drastic turn of events perplexed everyone in the room, making them struggle to comprehend the sudden change.

Confused by Dominic’s actions, one person asked, “Mr. Dawson, didn’t you say Celia enjoys playing the victim? Why are you helping her?”

Another person chimed in, saying, “Mr. Dawson, there’s no need for you to support Celia. She’s just an bastard child.”

Celia furrowed her brow, finding it challenging to grasp Dominic’s intentions.

She couldn’t figure out how he’d become elusive after six years. He had always struck her as the type of and cons.

person who could weigh any situation’s p and make an informed decision.

Despite being intimidated by Dominic, Carl expressed his displeasure and refused to be manipulated this way.

“Dominic, you’ve gone too far!” Carl exclaimed.

Natalie couldn’t help but interject, defending herself, “Mr. Dawson, you can’t treat me this way.”

Dominic sneered and retorted, “Did I go too far? Have I gone further than you?”

Carl, frustrated, argued, “But it was Celia who pushed Natalie first. Shouldn’t she apologize for her behavior?”

Dominic asked, “Is there any evidence proving that Celia pushed Natalie?”

Carl scoffed, emphasizing, “We don’t need any additional evidence! I saw it with my own eyes.”

Dominic glanced at Natalie and asked, “Are you certain that she pushed you?”

Natalie’s eyes wandered momentarily, and she nodded firmly, stating. “Absolutely.”

At this juncture, Natalie couldn’t deny her previous statement. She knew there was a lack of evidence to support the idea that she intentionally tripped to frame Celia.

Maintaining his composure, Dominic calmly instructed the person beside him. saying, “Retrieve all the surveillance footage from the hallway, including the hidden cameras.

Natalie widened her eyes in response. She had deliberately avoided being caught on surveillance, but she was unaware of the presence of hidden cameras.

“Mr. Dawson, how could you install surveillance at places where people can’t see?” Natalie asked anxiously..

Dominic shrugged and said, “There was an incident a while ago where someone wanted to do bad inside the hotel, causing several cameras to be destroyed. So, I set up covert cameras in the hallway. Is there a problem with that?”

Celia grew suspicious. She thought to herself, “If something like that really happened, how is it possible that no rumors spread outside? Especially it happened in a place like the Grand Hotel.”

However, upon hearing Dominic’s explanation, everyone had no option but to accept it as truth..

Natalie’s complexion instantly turned ashen.

The staff swiftly retrieved the footage, which provided a comprehensive 360–degree view of the exact location where Celia and Natalie had been standing.

The footage unequivocally demonstrated that Natalie had purposely tripped. herself, and Celia was not involved.

Carl then appeared in the picture and joined Natalie in pressuring Celia to apologize.

A wave of shock rippled through the onlookers as the truth was laid bare. Carl wore a somber expression while Natalie trembled, on the brink of tears.

“I… I just…” Natalie stammered.

Natalie realized it was too late to retract her accusation of Celia just then.

Dominic said without showing any emotion, “Now, either apologize to Celia or leave.”

Dominic had every reason to take this stance openly. Both the Nelson and

Burton families were entirely at fault and lacked the authority to challenge him. Simultaneously, Dominic earned a reputation for standing up for his guests.

“Mr. Dawson, how about we just…” said Natalie. Even though she knew she owed Celia an apology, Natalie was still hesitant to do so.

Carl seethed with anger but held no power in the face of the truth. He conceded, “I’m sorry, it was Natalie’s fault. Natalie, please apologize to Celia.”

Natalie also understood that she had no alternative but to apologize. However, her heart harbored reluctance.

Uttering the words “I’m sorry,” she addressed Celia insincerely before immediately seeking solace in Carl’s embrace as though she herself were the

victim.

The atmosphere among those present grew subtle and complicated.

Carl tenderly comforted Natalic, assuming the role of a considerate husband who cared about his wife’s emotions. He did it because, after all, the union

between the Nelson and Burton families seemed inevitable.

Dominic chose not to dwell on what had happened and shrugged it off as an

accident.

Celia pursed her lips as she watched him leave.

People began to analyze the situation and concluded, “Mr. Dawson must be using this opportunity to exert pressure on the Nelson and Burton families, representing the Dawson family’s stance on this matter.”

“At the banquet, Mr. Dawson’s father is conversing with Mr. Nelson and Mr. Burton. The Dawson family is undoubtedly sounding a warning to them, considering that two of the three major families are forming a marital alliance.”

Indignant at Celia, Natalie gritted her teeth and said, “Just wait and see.”

Celia calmly replied with a simple, “Oh.”

Celia had even imagined for a split second just now that Dominic would try to help her.

However, she also acknowledged the impossibility of that scenario because she wasn’t Grace.

Deciding not to dwell on the matter any longer, Celia tightened her grip on her handbag and resolved that it was time to set her plan in motion.

The little accident before the wedding quickly became the talk of the reception, with everyone marveling at how easily Dominic prevailed over both families.

After hearing about it, members of the Burton and Nelson families wore sour faces. However, since they were unable to argue or assert themselves, they were forced to swallow their pride.

Meanwhile, Old Mr. Dawson appeared jubilant, sporting a smile and indulging in a few more drinks. He remarked, “It’s only natural for him to speak up for Celia.”

The others present didn’t pay significant attention to the exact importance of Celia but subtly sought to discern the next course of action for the Dawson family.

Celia sat silently in the corner, resembling an invisible presence among the festivities.
