Chapter Thirty-One: Cub of the Year

It took two days to get Akira’s temperature down. Her body would glow every night on its own. They watched her as it got brighter and brighter, then dimmed, then went out.

On the third morning, Akira finally opened her eyes.

“Akira!” Wolfric, Malique, and Darius shouted at the same time.

The Pegasus nodded his head, then took to the sky, Akira squealing with delight as she raised her arms in the air.

“Let’s get going,” Malique said as he picked up two of the bags.

They traveled for hours before they finally reached the middle of the mountain. And what they found there awed and bewildered them.
