Chapter Two

At the top most room within the tavern Jae’lyn Ruce stood by the open window, her eyes closed as she felt the spray of rain water on her cheeks. She could smell the sea upon the chaotic wind and it put her in a small, longing trance. She was Ruce, a Liaison of the Sea, mystic most called her, she had a special talent, an inherited ability to hear the mothers siren calls, to see the spirits, and speak with the animals around her. It wasn’t a very common talent however, her mother didn’t have it, and only one of her uncles laid claim to it’s mastery, she was still an apprentice, struggling to learn on her own. Her uncle had passed on a few years back and was no longer there to answer her many questions....she felt alone in the world, and longed to return to the sea...to dive beneath her surface and swim to the very depths never to return to the strange looks and frightened faces when people found out what she could do.

“Jade?” Cyrus voice, suddenly sober and filled with concern by the door where he deposited his weapons and robes “Are you ok?”

Cyrus chuckled and tossed his bracers to the foot of the bed, freeing his arms from the scratchy leather before placing hands upon her hips and pulling her close to him “Mm, thats because...I am one sneaky hunter stalking my prey.” he chuckled and pressed his forehead with hers.

Jae’lyn grinned and bit her lip “Oh? So now I’m prey aye? A helpless rabbit in the jaws of the wolf?”

“Or the caress of a lover.” Cyrus purred as he rubbed his nose with hers fondly before pecking a playful kiss upon her lips. Both chuckled gayfully as his hands slipped leather straps away from soft shoulders and advanced with more fervor, each kiss finding new flesh as he trailed them past lips, cheek, ear...smooth, sensitive neck. Jae’lyn giggled and shuddered in delight whilst fingers aptly unbuckled strap after strap, freeing perk breasts from their tight bonds and caressing with hungry, trained hands.

Peace after peace leather strewn the tavern floor as young lovers bonded against the sturdy bed post.

A lone, shimmering white flake, lazily fell upon the window pane, it’s frigid edges quickly melting from the warmth glowing inside.
