Audrie unfurled her wings in the moonlight. They glistened in the reflected light that dimly lit the forest below. Audrie sat by the side of the pool, kicking her legs in the water of the small pond.

She barely heard the small gasp behind her as she stretched her wings. She did though, and she turned to see her friend Ava behind her, her eyes wide with shock.

Audrie quickly closed her wings, putting them behind her. Slowly she transformed into her human form. She stood up.

"Ava..." she tried to calm her down.

Did it work?

Probably not since Ava decided to start screaming.

"Ava! Be quiet! Ava!" Audrie hissed as Ava kept screaming.

Ok. Last resort time.

Run.

Audrie ran off into the woods, running far from Ava as she transformed back into a creature. She heard the sounds of people yelling out to her from behind her before she shot up into the sky. She flapped her wings as hard as she could, flying up into the clouds where she was hidden from sight.

Audrie was never seen again at that school.

Ava assumed she was dead like she should be.

The school assumed she moved.

But she'd gone to a whole other city. To start fresh again.

She hoped she wasn't all over the internet.

She hoped no one believed Ava.

But they did.

And that's when she started to hide her identity.

When she stopped making friends.

When she stopped trusting.

And when her story began.

Avery spread her pure white wings and flew up into the night sky. Being an angel, she was hunted by humans for her healing feathers. Creatures would kill angels for fun. So, she ran from those, too.

Avery flew through the clouds with her hands by her sides. She flew down to her home; a huge weeping willow tree in the middle of the forest. She hid beneath the roots and curled up, about to fall asleep.

That's when she heard a noise. Someone speaking. They sounded human. "I swear she came this way..."

Avery held her breath, hoping desperately that they wouldn't find her.

"Maybe she didn't land here?"

Avery let out the breath she'd been holding when she heard their footsteps getting farther away. She curled her wings around her and fell asleep.
