High School Terrans
Chapter 4

One of the few good places to eat in town was the 1950′s styled diner where Kyle, Dan, and Alan decided to eat at during the evening. They all sat waiting but the waitress could see Dan had idly been waving his pointed finger sliding the salt shaker back and forth across the table.

“Excuse me, waitress?” Kyle said raising his hand.

However, the waitress just walked on by holding another plate of food in her hands. Unfortunately within the public, there were still some who were prejudicial to Terrans, and moving objects were on their list they always frowned upon. Sarah and Grace walked inside seeing their table and made their way there.

“Hi Kyle,” Sarah said.

“Sarah, hey,” Kyle replied.

“Who’s your friend?” Kyle asked nodding.

“Grace meet Kyle, Dan and Alan.”

“Nice to meet you,” Grace replied smiling.

“Is it cool that we join you?”

“Sure.”

Alan slid over accommodating room for Sarah and Grace in the round corner booth.

“Did you guys order yet?” Sarah asked.

“We tried but the waitress hasn’t paid any attention to us,” Dan said.

Sarah quickly stood up standing in the path of the waitress holding onto a pot of coffee with a peeved look on her face.

“Hi, you’ve been ignoring my friends and I’d like for all of us to have some service if you aren’t terribly busy at the moment.”

The waitress conceded putting her pot down on the counter taking out her pad and pen asking, “What will it be?”

Sarah sat back down as Dan scanned the menu

“I’ll have the bacon double cheeseburger with an order of friend and a Coke,” he said.

“Double cheeseburger with a side of fries,” Kyle said.

“Hey, why don’t you tell them your news?” Dan asked, once all their food came to the table where they all started to eat.

“Really, what is it?” Sarah said.

“Really?”

“Yeah, he saw me throw the ball back on to the field and liked what I did enough for him to invite me.”

“That’s great news,” she said looking elated. “The team hasn’t been doing well these past few years and has only been second in a state a few times.”

“To me jocks are just a bunch of alpha males trying to one up each other on and off the field,” Grace said.

“On our world we didn’t need brute strength,” Dan said. “We relied on our natural mental focus and agility.”

“Terrans are mostly passive aggressive,” Kyle answered.

“What kind of sports did you have on your world?” Sarah asked.

“Sky surfing.”

Sarah could only show a face of puzzlement.

“Kind of like regular surfing but instead you floated above the water. It was all based on a point system.”

“Sounds interesting.”

“Kyle was one of the best sky surfers on the whole planet,” Dan exclaimed, slapping a hand on Kyle’s back.

“Dan enjoys exaggerating,” Kyle said smiling.

“I would like to apologize to whoever spray painted the rocks at the beach,” Sarah said, standing outside next to Kyle after they were done eating. “It was wrong.”

“I knew we weren’t going to be accepted right away with open arms,” Kyle said smiling, shrugging his shoulders. “Hopefully by tomorrow I can start to fix all of it.”

He turned around to leave but stopped turning back to Sarah.

“Would you like to go out sometime soon?”

“Are you asking me out?”

“Yeah,” Kyle said smiling.

“You got it,” she said, extending her hand. “Hand me your phone.”

Kyle passed his cell phone to her where she added her number to its’ directory handing it back to him.

“I’ll expect your call,” she said grinning.
