Chapter Forty-Nine.

As Joshua tried to rest Miss Tianna had spelled him to allow his body to rest and recover, however, his mind constantly reflected on the previous events and for the next few hours it was agony as he replayed the events stage by stage trying to come to terms with the death of the Chinese students and the retaliation of their masters who believed they were deceived and under attack.

Joshua found himself back in the Rang arena the match had started; it was a friendly good will game, so no serious offensive moves were needed. Yet, both Joshua and Tim saw the tactics of the Chinese players and they smiled, immediately knowing what course of action to take.

They had recently been taught new defensive spells and counter spells to protect not only themselves but their fellow team members. Instinctively both Joshua and Tim cast the spells, only for some unknown reason the spells reacted incorrectly, and opposition students started dying.

Joshua could see himself as if he was looking from above the action looking down, and viewing himself and his team as they reacted to the Chinese players, Joshua watched himself along with Tim cast the fatal spells, and it was as if in slow motion he watched the spells leave the two wands and travel towards the opposing students.

He screamed, no!... trying to prevent the spells from impacting, and as they reached their intended target, he could see their lives leave them and the shocked reaction on the students faces, and then an almost immediate response from their masters.

Even Paula and his team members screamed in shock at what had happened, and for a brief moment their defences were lowered, it was then the Chinese masters struck believing they were under attack.

Joshua awoke screaming, he was bathed in sweat and for a brief moment he was confused, as he regained his senses he realised Miss Catherine and Merlin were in his room, at least he thought it was his room, then he realised he was within an angelic holding cell and that his friend Tim was still asleep beside him.

It was then Joshua heard Michael’s voice talking to him from inside his mind.

“Child, you are safe, and we are now certain that both you and master Tim had no intentional actions of murdering those students, however, we had to ascertain this for an assuredness’, that is why I had to link my mind with yours. Both you and Tim are innocent players in war between Lucido and the king Litch,” explained Michael.

Ounce their innocence was established both students were released back into the care of Michael, and he decided to have a fellow guardian angel escort them to Queen Shellbacks realm to give them time to recover. Only on arrival they discovered Lucido and King Litch along with a small army awaiting their arrival.

The trap had been set, and Lucido used his extensive skills and powers to ensnare the guardian angel, leaving both Tim and Joshua who were still stunned by all said events and not fully alert. As the armies surrounded them, they found themselves without their wands which were to be returned later.

And as the realisation hit them, they found themselves facing King Litch and Lucido, knowing that for that moment in time they were at their mercy.
