A powerful retort from Evadne made Cedric feel as though his mask of pretense was ripped off, exposing the shameful title of an ungrateful man hovering over his

Evadne thought, “Wishing to distance yourself from the Ashbournes, are you? Alright. But I will make sure to stir the pot. Your secrets hidden in the dark, I’ll drag them out into the light!” 

Cedric’s l*ps tightened, his face still adorned with a smile, but his gaze on Evadne held no trace of mirth. 

Instead, it held an icy chill.
