Chapter 11 Friends 

Nancy sat back in her seat, her expression cold and distant.

Gary raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “But you’ve loved Liam for so long, and in the end, he marries a worthless woman and brings her home. Can you bear it?” 

“If he’s willing to settle for someone unworthy, what can I do?” 

Nancy seemed indifferent and finally said, “Gary, I’m exhausted.” 

Closing her laptop, she stood up and walked over to the window. 

As night fell, the southern city came alive with vibrant and colorful nightlife, illuminating the streets with lights. However, in the northern city, she had spent three lonely years. 

It wasn’t the emptiness of the room that made her feel lonely. It was the heartbreak of her lover’s rejection. 

The screen turned pitch black, but Nancy’s sorrowful face still deeply affected Gary. 

He turned off the laptop, opened WhatsApp on his phone, and sent a message in “The Protectors group: “Our girl has been bullied. Where is everyone?” 

Henry replied, “Who dares to bully her? I’ll crush them!” 

Jerry replied, “Hasn’t she divorced? Besides Liam, who else in the world can bully her? Or has she been pretending to be submissive for three years and has truly become weak?” 

Larry replied, “Jerry, be careful; she might come after you.” 

Jerry replied, “Hahaha.” 

Terry replied, “Tell me his name.” 

Gary smirked. Now that Terry had spoken, there was no way out. 

He briefly explained the situation and then shared a detailed battle plan in the group chat. The brothers discussed it fervently, and in the end, Terry made the final decision. 

Gary snapped his fingers and quickly changed the name of the WhatsApp group to “The Avengers.” 

In another WhatsApp group with Nancy, everything was calm and peaceful, as if nothing had happened. 

After a busy day, Nancy felt physically and mentally exhausted, almost falling asleep in the 

car. 

When she arrived home, the living room was brightly lit. Sam, the housekeeper, and the maids had cleaned both the inside and outside of the rose garden, restoring it to its original state. Nancy was very pleased. “You all have worked hard. The housekeeper will give each of you a bonus later.” 

“Thank you, 

Miss.” 

Sam, the housekeeper, in his forties and dressed professionally, approached and reported, “Miss, Ms. Cerci is still locked in her room.” 

“Oh.” Nancy remained calm and said, “Bring two buns. I’ll go up and check on her.” 

After working all day and then coming home to take care of her cousin, Nancy realized that getting older was not easy. 

The door to the guest room was locked from the outside. The housekeeper approached and unlocked it with a key. He still held a tray with two large buns. Nancy took the tray and said, “You can go 

downstairs first.” 

.Sam, the housekeeper, looked worried. “Miss…” 

“It’s fine. She can’t harm me.” 

Nancy pushed open the door and entered. Cerci was lying on the bed, sitting on the carpet as if she had fallen asleep, dreaming of eating chicken thighs. Drool dripped from her mouth. As soon as she heard the noise, she woke up and looked at Nancy with a confused expression. 

Nancy approached. “Are you hungry? These are fresh buns. Have a taste.” 

Cerci’s attention was immediately drawn to the buns on the bedside table. She turned her head towards Nancy, her eyes filled with anger. She lunged at Nancy. 

“Nancy… Smith! I’m going to kill you!”

In the study of the old mansion, Mr. Walker forcefully slammed his hand on the desk, causing the tea cover to flip over. With a stern voice, he scolded, “Look at what you’ve done!” 

Liam stood in front of the desk, maintaining a calm expression. “I will handle this matter. 

“Handle it? How do you plan to deal with it?” 

Mr. Walker’s face was filled with anger. “Don’t forget your position. You are the president of the Walker Group! The day I helped you attain this position, I advised you not to let emotions cloud your judgment. But what have you done? Time and time again, you have disappointed me!” 

He took a deep breath and continued, “Three years ago, you insisted on marrying a nurse. I had concerns about your severe injuries, but I didn’t stop you. I allowed you to proceed and observed as your condition gradually improved and you became more stable. Nancy was very well–behaved and sensible. So I accepted it. But you divorced her without a word and wanted to marry the daughter of the Rivera family! Have you lost your mind? Why did you divorce Nancy? Why?” 

“There’s no reason,” Liam replied indifferently. “I simply don’t like her.” 

The old man became even angrier. “Now you say you don’t like her. What were you thinking when you insisted on marrying her with your partially disabled body?” 

“Although Nancy comes from a rural family, she is obedient and humble. She faithfully served you, taking care of you for three years. And you just abandoned her like this?” 

The old man couldn’t contain his anger. He vented at Liam, grabbing the paperweight next to him and throwing it at him. “Give me back my obedient daughter–in–law!” 

Liam didn’t dodge or avoid it. The hard paperweight hit his shoulder, causing sharp pain. 

Meanwhile, the daughter–in–law mentioned by the old man was currently stuffing a large bun into Cerci’s mouth. 

Nancy looked at Cerci, who had her mouth stuffed with the bun and was making a fuss, and sneered, “You want to fight with me as soon as you come back. It seems like you’ve lost weight from hunger. I even prepared two buns for you.” 

Cerci spat out the bun in her mouth and threw it on the ground. “Who wants to eat this terrible bun?” 

Nancy glanced at the bun that rolled on the ground, her face darkening, “Cerci, wasting 

food is not good behavior. Don’t you know that there are many people in this world who can’t afford to eat?” 

She gracefully sat down on the sofa, smoothed out the wrinkles on her pants, and looked at Cerci with great dignity. 

“Either you pick up this bun and eat it obediently, or you go hungry. You can only cat when you 

realize your mistake.” 

Listening to her words, Cerci sneered coldly, “Are you out of your mind? Who do you think you are?” 

Before she could finish her sentence, Nancy slapped her across the face. 

Cerci covered her face, looking at Nancy in disbelief. “How dare you?” 

“You were using foul language, so hitting you is the least I can do.” 

Cerci slumped on the ground, looking at Nancy with hatred in her eyes, as if she wanted to kill her. 

“Very well, it seems you have made your 

choice.” 

Nancy glanced at her disdainfully. “Since you don’t want to eat, then starve.” 

She turned around to leave, but Cerci made up her mind and grabbed the vase on the bedside table, aiming at the back of Nancy’s head, and smashed it down.
