I can not believe this, Greyson is my mate, no it can’t be, my heart breaks because I know he is going to reject me. He was the one that wanted to send me away. We stand here looking at each other, not saying anything and he lifts his hand and runs his fingers gently across my face, and it lights me ablaze at his touch. I close my eyes and lean into his touch. I can hear his heart beat pick up. He pulls me closer to him and kisses my cheek. “Autumn, please can we talk?” I nod and I still say nothing. He moves to usher me to the chair sitting in front of his desk, I sit and he makes his way back to his seat behind his desk. “Well, this is certainly an unexpected situation, I am curious to know how you feel about this revelation, do you have any intentions of staying with us permanently? You realize that if we mate that you will become the Luna of this pack, do you think you can handle that?” I am shocked. I don’t know what to say. I sit and just look down, embarrassed by the idea of us mating, I feel my cheeks flush as if they are on fire.

“Autumn, don’t be shy, please talk to me, I haven’t seen you in five years and I haven’t yet even heard your own voice in as long.” I shrug and keep looking down. “I don’t know what to say” I barely whisper and he says “Autumn, are you overwhelmed by this?” I nod. He sighs and says “okay, let’s take this one step at a time, let’s not talk about us being mates right now, let’s just go over some pack rules, okay?” I nod in submission. “Please Autumn, I know you haven’t much on words, but please can you talk to me and answer me when I ask you a question?” I take a deep breath in, “yes sir” he smiles at me, and it makes me relax a little bit. “Now, that you can shift you are allowed to run within the boundaries, I would prefer you would run with me or within a group, but if you insist on running alone you must stay within the boundaries, our borders are secure with the newest technology, I have motion detectors all around our territory, and guards stationed and patrolling so I will know if you leave the area. I have made exception to this rule on one day of the year, and only if you are with an escort, of course your escort will most likely be me and I will respect your privacy and give you space.” He is quiet for a moment “Thank you, sir” he smiles again, “we have a no tolerance rule for fighting, we prefer differences be settled in a non-violent manner and violators of this rule do not receive warnings with the exception of this one, punishment will be implemented depending upon the severity of the fight. I am sure you are aware that it is against pack law to associate with enemy packs and doing so is treated as a treasonous act to me your alpha, and to your pack and is punishable by death. Please Autumn, do not break this law, to kill you would be killing myself” I look up to him and see pain in his eyes at the thought of having to kill me, “I understand, sir” he continues “fratenizing with humans is allowed, but wolf laws forbids you from disclosing our kind with the exception of being mated by the moon goddess, banned items include silver, wolf’s bane, of course, but also drugs of any kind, we may live in the twenty-first century, and it may be legal in other areas, but not within this pack” I nod, “also, we do not tolerate underage drinking as a matter of fact all human laws apply to us as well in order to blend in and be inconspicuous”

He pauses again then says “Autumn, please tell me you aren’t going to be a problem for me?” I blush with embarrassment, I look up to him and then down again and clear my throat and say “if I may Alpha, I would like to apologize for my childish behavior and being disobedient prior to my moving away, I can’t make any excuses, but I have learned self discipline while I was away and understand that my reckless abandonment not only put myself in danger, but others as well, including you, sir” he smiles at me again. “You knew I followed you?” I nod and admitted “I could smell you” he then furrows his brows and asks “how? You were only a pup” I blush and shrug my shoulders “I really do not know, I have heard that it is not usual for a pup to be able to have such a strong sense of smell before they get their wolf, but I could always smell you” he then asks “could you smell anyone else?” I shake my head and then look up and give him a half smile and say “no sir, only you” he smiles at me again, but this time it is different it’s as if he looking at me as his mate, not the screw up pup that caused havoc on him and his father and my, for all intents and purposes, ‘adopted’ father, John.

“Kitten, I won’t push you into something you don’t want” his voice is seductive and he stands and slowly stalks over to me, he bends down next to me and his voice goes deeper and husky and oh so sexy, he hasn’t changed that much except that he now looks like a man and not a gorgeous teen heartthrob. He has muscles that are well defined. He now has some facial hair and it is really sexy as well. My wolf is wanting to complete the mating process right now, I am having to control her as she is wanting to me to jump into his arms and beg him to take me. I bite my lip and close my eyes as I listen to him and feel the tingle shooting through me lighting me on fire.

After a few lingering moments he continues “If you choose to stay and be my mate, I promise that I will always protect you. I will give you time to think about it, and like I said I won’t push you, but when you are ready, I want to know” I nod and blush again. He runs his fingers across my cheek again and I suck in a deep breath at the contact. “Baby, you don’t have to be embarrassed with me, have you ever been with a man? I only ask because you seem to be easily embarrassed by this topic” I turn from him, he is asking if I am a virgin? He gently brings his hand to my chin and guides me to look back at him and says barely above a whisper “baby, look at me” I look and say “I haven’t ever went that far, I have only dated in college and he was more of a friend than someone I really was interested in, him holding my hand was the only time another male has touched me” that was the truth. He smiles happily in the knowledge that I have never been touched by another, but I suspect he has some experience, but I do not want to know anything about that, my wolf growls at the thought of some whore touching our mate. “What’s wrong Kitten? You seem angry” I again blush and say “I am sorry, my wolf is having trouble wondering about any experience her mate may have had in the past” he grins and then as if he suddenly realizes what he is about to admit will hurt me and he doesn’t want to confess it. He stands and then puts his hand on the back of his neck, “uh baby, I am not quite sure how to say this...” I cut him off “Uh, um Alpha Grey, I don’t want to know, I rather not know, I don’t want to poke the wolf” he sighs as if relieved. “Baby, I promise it’s been months since I last..” I hold up my hand to stop him and say “Greyson, it’s okay, it really is, I just can’t hear anything about it, it was my wolf anyway, I am having to fight her to keep her tamed” he is by my side again grinning and says “I know what you mean, I am fighting my wolf too” I am stunned “come on Kitten, don’t act so surprised, we naturally want to be together.” I smile and bite my bottom lip and he leans in closer to me and places a peck on my forehead and says “baby, you need to leave my presence before my wolf takes you.”
