Hunter (Brothers of Chaos MC)
Hunter: Chapter 9

Sabrina kept her eyes closed as she spoke softly, “He’s right.” God, her head hurt! That’s why she refused to open her eyes. Even the light in the room would make it worse.

Suddenly, one of her lids was peeled back and a bright light was glaring at her. “Oh, my god!” She raised her hand up to smack whatever it was away and she struck something hard.

“God damnit!” a man yelled.

Startled, she finally lifted her lids to see a tall man with long hair in a ponytail, holding his jaw.

“She fucking hit me, Hunter!”

“Well Taz, you should’ve warned her first,” Hunter commented.

“OH! I am so sorry!” Sabrina exclaimed.

“Yeah, yeah. Okay, I am gonna flash your eyes, you hear me?” Taz asked.

“Fine…” She sighed. “It just hurts.”

“Yes, it would. When you wreck a vehicle it usually does,” Taz stated drily.

Hunter chuckled. “You stopped him though Sabrina.”

“I-I did?” she whispered and winced as the light was too much.

“Yeah, he won’t be bothering you anymore,” Hunter told her.

“Well, looks like you’re okay so far,” Taz grumbled as he felt around the gash on her forehead.

In pain, Sabrina instantly swung her arms up to keep him from poking. “Stop that!”

“Owww!” Taz grunted. “Look lady, you gotta let me do my job.” He turned to Hunter. “Where the hell did you find her in a boxing gym?”

Hunter was laughing outright now.

“I-I’m sorry,” she whispered again. “I’m still out of it.”

“Well, lay still would ya?”

“Yeah baby, he’s our doc, so try to cooperate,” Hunter told her.

She tried as she groaned, flinched, winced and yelled another Owww.

Finally, Taz gently cleaned the gash and bandaged it. “Looks like a good blow to the head but not a concussion. But you gotta watch her for the next few hours. Don’t let her go to sleep.”

Sabrina heard this and she then heard some shuffling as she kept her eyes closed.

Then a door shut, and silence.

Suddenly, someone took her hand. She somehow knew it was Hunter.

“Sabrina what the hell happened?”

She let out a long sigh and wondered where to start.

“Was this guy part of the Vikings?” he asked.

“No. He was my foster brother.”

“What?’

She slowly opened her eyes to look up at him as he sat beside the bed she was laying on. “Dean Calhoun. He was part of the last foster family I was with. He was crazy even back then. He was always there whenever I turned around. He was… obsessed? Then I left the day I turned 18. I never wanted to see his fucking face again.” A tear rolled down from her eye.

“So what was he doing here?” Hunter wanted to know.

“H-he said he’d followed me. He thought I was chasing bikers… like attracted to them or something?” Rage rose up in her suddenly. “He was fucking insane!” she winced at her own yelling voice.

“Baby, now calm down, okay?” Hunter squeezed her hand.

Suddenly, she realized he was calling her baby. She paused for a few seconds…she kind of liked it.

“So where was he taking you?” Hunter asked quietly.

Tears filled her eyes. “He said he was going to…” She sobbed before she could finish. “…take me to a motel and tie me up.” Her sob turned into a horrible ugly cry, as she couldn’t stop it. “H-he had videos of me in the shower, changing clothes for all that time! Oh, my god! He looked so crazy. I just got so mad. I-I tricked him.”

Hunter looked stone faced as he squeezed her hand tightly. “How?”

She turned her head away and again, closed her eyes. “He had unbuckled and scooted over t-to me and was groping me while sticking that knife to my throat a-and he told me what he planned. T-then I decided I would rather die than l-let him…” She wept loudly and it took her another moment to speak again, “…I got him to move over by telling him the interstate was coming up, then when he moved—I hit t-the brakes…” She wept some more. “I-I killed him, didn’t— I?” she whispered brokenly.

The room went silent as she sniffled through her tears. Finally, she turned her head to look at Hunter.

He looked enraged, angry and the skin around those yummy lips were pinched white. “You did what you had to Sabrina. You fought back. Don’t waste a drop of pity for that little fucker. If he’d lived, I was going to end him.”

Her eyes widened. Sabrina stared at him. “S-so you don’t think I-I…”

He leaned over and softly kissed her cheek. “You are not a killer, Baby. You did what you had to do. But…”

She swallowed the lump in her throat then asked, “But?”

“I was right behind you. When you stopped that truck I would have killed him right then.”

She stared into his eyes. “B-but why? You don’t even know me that w-ell?”

“I know you well enough. He came in here and crossed a line. He took my woman. He was a dead man the minute he touched you.”

Her eyes rounded. The only part she heard was My Woman.

He patted her hand then stood.

Peering up at him, she didn’t know what to say. In fact, she thought maybe she’d heard it wrong. Who knew when she was so confused and feeling so lost?

Hunter scooped her up and carried her out to the hall. He headed toward her room then he paused at her door. Seeming to change his mind, he went to his room next door. Reaching a hand out, he opened it and strode through it, kicking it shut with his boot.

Sabrina was now entirely confused.

Striding over to a bed, Hunter laid her gently down.

Sabrina gazed around. “Is this your room?” she asked.

He nodded. His expression was unreadable. “You aren’t allowed to sleep, so here is where you will stay.” He turned and walked over to a fridge. “You need to drink something and a few aspirins might help.” He grabbed a coke and walked back over to set it down. Next, he reached down, raised her up, and shoved two pillows behind her.

All the while, she simply stared at him.

He looked over and opened a drawer on his nightstand. He pulled out an aspirin bottle, popped the cap off, and swung the bottle over to her.

Blinking hard and wincing, Sabrina held out her hand as he tapped 3 into her palm.

Hunter opened the coke bottle and handed it to her.

Still silent, she took the aspirin and swallowed the coke. It sort of burned her throat and she coughed.

Hunter sat on the bed and looked concerned. “You okay?”

She swallowed and spluttered. “Y-yes.” sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

He nodded at her. “Drink it slow, you’re probably dehydrated too.”

She lay there propped up on his pillows and took another few sips.

After a couple of minutes of him simply watching her, he grabbed the bottle from her and put the cap back on.

Letting out a sigh, Sabrina now felt how sore her whole body was. She closed her eyes. When she did, all she could see was Dean’s crazy face. Her eyes snapped open as she gasped.

“What is it?” Hunter took her hand.

“N-nothing… I just…” She tried hard to keep the tears back. She had cried enough.

Hunter reached over, scooped her up, and sat her in his lap.

Gasping at the sudden move, Sabrina clung to him and sat there in his lap then cried silently for a long while until his t-shirt was soaking wet.

He held her and smoothed her hair without saying a word.

Sabrina felt safe for the first time in a very long time. Maybe for the first time since she’d lost Shelby and her parents. She finally spoke, “Thank you Nicco,” she whispered.

“I got you Baby. I got you.”

His rumbling deep voice sent tingles down along her body, replacing the pain of moments before. Oh, man. I am in such trouble.
