Sam P.O.V

The next few days had went by, as I lay in bed crying my heart out. I hardly moved, unless I had no choice.

Jo would bring me breakfast, lunch and dinner. Zaya stayed by my side the whole time until she had to go home. Leo would come by every now and then and Cole was there most of the day trying to get me out of bed.

I know how Sam feels, I felt the same, when my dad died. We needed her to realise that life does go on and her father wouldn’t want her to be like this, he wouldn’t want his daughter to suffer. He would’ve wanted her to move on and be happy. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

I walked into her room, she was still there, in her bed with tears constantly running down her face. I went to her curtains and opened them. Normally I would just beg her to come out of bed. Yeah I know me begging. But she never answered, just laid there.

But today, I don’t care if I have to drag her out by her ears. She’s coming out this room. Zaya looked at me in surprise.

“What are you doing?” Zaya whisper yelled, looking at me like I’m insane, I probably am.

“Come on Sam. We’re going for a run.” I said pulling the blankets off her.

She didn’t move, didn’t answer just like any other day. I tried to pull her up but she pulled back. I let go and put my arms over my chest.

“We either do this the easy way, or the hard way.” I said. No answer.

“Looks like the hard way.” I said, grabbing her and swinging her over my shoulder. She punched my back and tried to wriggle out of my arms. I didn’t budge. “Let go of me.” She screamed. It’s the first thing she’s said in three days.

“No.” I screamed back.

Zaya was sitting there, not knowing what to do. “Now we are going for a run.” I said as I walked down the stairs. My mother was at the bottom of the stairs, shocked. She went to open her mouth to say something, but she didn’t know what to say.

“We’re going for a run.” I smiled sweetly at my mother.

“Be careful.” She whispered.

“She’ll be fine.” I said reassuringly.

“You do know I am still here, right?” Sam said sarcastically, putting an elbow on my back to lift her head higher.

“She’s back, my goodness.” I joked. Sam scoffed.

“And as sassy as before.” I said quietly. She punched me in the back, again.

“I heard that.” She growled. I laughed. I could feel her tense up, trying not to laugh. I walked outside and reached the clearing.

“If I put you down will you run away?” I asked.

“Maybe.” She said in all seriousness.

I sighed and slowly and gently put her down. She stood there. Her eyes were puffy and red from crying, but she’s stopped crying. ‘That’s progress.’ Stan sighed. ‘Yep.’ I replied.

“You know, your allowed to be happy.” I said.

“It doesn’t feel right to be happy, though.” She said frowning.

“He’d want you to be happy.” I said. She nodded. A couple of seconds passed.

“Now are we gonna go for a run or not.” She asked smirking.

It was so good to see her smile again, even if it was just for a second. I didn’t know if I could’ve taken it any longer with her being so upset.

“Yeah, alright, alright.” I said, waving my hand at her. Telling her to calm down.

We took our seperate ways to shift. Once I came back out, she was standing there waiting for me. We took off into the trees, dodging and jumping logs, that lay on the ground. Until we reached the lake, and slowed.

Sam looked worried, she watched everything around her. Making sure Brendan wasn’t anywhere near here.

“It’s okay, he’s not here, I’ve increased the patrol around the borders and got patrol to check here before we came. He’s not here. And I will never let him hurt you ever again.” I said reassuringly.

‘What did I just say, about me never letting him hurt her. What is wrong with me. I’m going pshyco, I thought I hated her.’ I said confused.

‘Well I don’t know you said it. And you’ve always been crazy.’ Stan laughed. ‘Really.’ I asked annoyed. He chuckled back.

I seen Sam relax her muscles and take a long drink of the cold, fresh water.

When she was finished drinking, she looked back up at me. When we locked eyes, I had only just realised, I was staring. There were only faint scars, from the cuts, that covered her body, but they will go away in due time.

She tilted her head slightly, confused.

“What are you staring at?” She asked.

“Nothing.” I said, keeping my eyes fixated on hers.

“Alright then.” Sam said looking even more confused, but neither of us could break the stare.

“Race you back.” Sam finally said, and took off through the trees.

“Hey, get back here. That’s no fair you got a head start.” I called after her and ran in the direction towards the house and Sam.
