Josephine was not there when the family was having late–night snacks. However, she showed up in the living room and took Nydia’s seat, talking and laughing with Maren and Lacie.

Cade was on his phone, sitting on the lounge chair opposite those women, emotionless.

Seeing Nydia walk downstairs, Maren immediately lost her smile. Instead, she shot a disdainful look at Nydia.

Lacie chose to ignore Nydia. She took Josephine’s hand and said to Maren, “Maren, check Josephine’s hand. It is as

smooth as milk.”

Maren grabbed Josephine’s hand over and added, “Of course. Josephine is a fair lady from a wealthy family and the apple of her parent’s eyes, unlike someone who masquerades as a socialite even though she’s from a declining family.”

Nydia pretended not to understand Maren and Lacie’s sarcasm. She calmly walked downstairs, tided her dress, and gracefully sat down.

Seeing that, Maren immediately got furious.

Nydia ignored Maren’s emotion, thinking, ‘You hate to see me here, don’t you? Then I’m sitting here to disgust you back. Let’s see who will laugh till the end.’

Lacie brought her three–year–old daughter, Grace Campbell, with her.

Grace was playing with building blocks. They appeared too complex for a three–year–old, so she could not complete them herself. She blinked and looked at Cade, murmuring inside, ‘Cade is the smartest person in the family. I’m sure that building.

these blocks is a piece of cake for him.‘

Unexpectedly, Cade’s gaze had never fallen on Grace.

Grace begged, “Cade, help me.”

Hearing Grace’s request, Cade finally raised his head and got a second off his phone. He looked over but did not take action. Instead, he even gave Grace a disdainful look.

וי

Grace was so angry that her face turned red. She pursed her lips and complained, “Cade is annoying. I can do it without his help.” She looked like the angry bird from a video game.

Nydia chuckled at Grace’s funny expression. She walked over, crouched down, and asked with a smile, “Need a hand? Point out where you’re stuck, and I’ll help you figure it out.”

Grace’s eyes lit up. She pointed at the train railway and said, “Here.”

Nydia loved building blocks when she was a kid. Her father doted on her so much that he bought any building blocks she wanted, including those limited versions.

Nydia had not played with building blocks for quite some time, but her muscle memory enabled her to fix the train railway within a minute.

Grace clapped her hands excitedly and cried, “Wow! Niddy, you’re awesome!” Then, she held Nydia’s face and kissed her on

the cheek.

Nydia’s heart swelled with joy as she received the kiss from Grace. She reached a finger and gave Grace’s little nose a loving tap, saying, Whenever you need help, Niddy is always here for you.”

Grace looked at Nydia with her shining eyes, replying, “Thanks!” She seemed to become Nydia’s admirer.

Cade slid his hand into his pants pocket and leaned back, murmuring to himself, ‘Her name is Nydia. Did Grace even spare a second to think about that before she created the nickname Niddy?‘

Others soon noticed Nydia and Grace were playing together

Lacie strode over and pulled Grace up from the floor. She glared at Nydia and warned Grace, “I told you not to play with strangers. Remember?”

“But Niddy is not a stranger. She’s Cade’s wife.” Grace looked very confused. She looked at Cade and asked for confirmation, “Cade, am I right?”

Cade rolled his eyes and replied, “Can you tell me anything I don’t know?”

“Humph!” Grace turned her head away and decided not to talk to Cade again.

Josephine had complex emotions when she heard Cade’s answer, thinking, ‘Although Cade is kidding Grace, he acknowledges Nydia deep down. He admits that she is his wife.‘

Maren, sensed Josephine’s emotions and decided to help her win. She held Josephine’s arm and stood up, suggesting, “Let’s go. It’s time for playing cards.”

Josephine replied gently, “Sounds good.”

Maren, Lacie, and Josephine sat at a desk. They needed one more player, so Maren invited Cade.

Cade walked over with an emotionless face.

Soon, Maren complained, “Cade, it’s not your turn. Do you even know how to play it?”

Cade was a gifted kid and excelled in almost everything he put his mind to. The only thing he was not good at was playing cards. The main reason for that was he barely played it.

Nydia sneered and thought, ‘Well. Hard to believe Cade has something he’s not good at.’

She heard Cade suddenly call her when she was immersed in her thoughts. “Nydia, come over here.”

Nydia was stunned. She looked up at Cade and asked, “What?”

Cade frowned impatiently and replied, “Cut the crap and get over here.”

Nydia stood up and walked over with confusion.

Cade gave Nydia his seat. With that, he grabbed another chair and sat behind Nydia, warning coldly, Play your hand wisely. Don’t embarrass me.”

Cade had been sitting next to Josephine initially, but soon, he gave his seat to Nydia, the woman Josephine hated the most. He then distanced himself from Josephine. Seeing her plan fall apart, Josephine was furious and gritted hef teeth in frustration, trying to control herself since she was with the Jackson family. She swore quietly, I’ll make Nydia lose everything. I’m confident about my skills. I play cards with those socialites, and no one can win me. What’s more, Maren’s on my side. Nydia, just you wait!”

On the contrary, Nydia ignored Josephine’s angry gaze and focused on her cards. She complained inside, Thanks for letting me play, Cade. Look at these cards. The chances of losing are way higher than winning.’

Nydia did not play cards often. Although she had no confidence to win, she had to finish this round.

Ten minutes later, Nydia heaved a sigh of relief and won 20,000 dollars. Maren was dumbfounded, and Josephine clenched her hands into fists.

Nydia raised her eyebrows and looked at Cade. Unexpectedly, Cade commented, “Total shot in the dark.”

Nydia retorted back inside, ‘Come on. Can’t you see what cards I got? That was completely a bad hand.’ She felt annoyed and muttered, “Stay away from me.” –

However, Cade leaned closer and whispered in Nydia’s ear, “Get serious. I bet you can’t take the consequence of losing

money.”

Nydia was speechless, thinking, ‘I wish I could knock him out and throw him out.‘

Lacie cursed, “Damn it. I don’t believe it. One more round!” Nydia smiled and agreed, saying, “Sounds great!”

Nydia won every round next. In the end, she got tired of winning and stretched.

The other three looked terrible. It was not because they lost about 200,000 dollars but because they failed to beat Nydia

  1. up.

Nydia rose from her seat, easing the ache in her back with a gentle massage. “Well, that’s enough for today,” she announced with a smile. “I’m heading to my room to catch some rest.” With that, she made her way up to the third floor.

Nydia thought, ‘It’s a rough day. I need a hot bath so much.‘ Thinking of that, she opened the closet and was stunned.

Orson was an action man. He had placed a lace nightgown in the closet and forced Nydia to confront.the problem.

Nydia’s gaze lingered on the lace nightgown, and her expression soured. She thought, ‘I hope Orson didn’t ask Cade to stay in the Jackson Mansion. I hope I can avoid any awkward moments.’

Things happened the opposite way.

When Nydia finished her hot bath and walked out wearing that sexy nightgown, Cade pushed the door open and entered.

They looked into each other’s eyes. Nydia’s face instantly turned red, and she had no idea what to do.

They had known each other for a while, but their interactions were often full of conflicts and fights. They had never shared a moment of calm mutual gaze.

It was Cade’s first time to see Nydia not in those elegant dresses.

The lace nightgown hugged Nydia’s figure flawlessly, accentuating her slender waist and a bubble butt. Her damp hair cascaded over her smooth face like seaweed. Water drops trailed down from her eyelashes, danced across her pink lips, meandered along her collarbone, and disappeared into the valley between her breasts. She exposed her voluptuous perfection before Cade.

Cade suddenly felt his blood was boiling, and he narrowed his eyes.
