However, there was not a hint of lust in his eyes, only coldness, as if he was going through a routine that disgusted him.
Nydia tried to push him away at the thought of his cruelty. But Cade was faster. He grabbed her hands and pinned them over her head. He lowered his eyes and warned her coldly, “That’s enough, girl. Quit your little play before I run out of patience.”
Nydia teared up because of the pain, but she bit her lips, trying not to make a sound.
Her resistance upset him and made him treat her more violently than usual. She was hoping he would leave when he was over. But he didn’t. He was not himself tonight. And in the middle of it, he whispered in her ear, “Behave yourself, kitten. Or I may want a new wife.”
He released his anger inside her over and over again until she couldn’t take it anymore and passed out.

Cade didn’t come to her rescue. And she answered, “Because he doesn’t love me.” And then the kidnappers pushed her off a cliff.
The falling felt so real that Nydia woke up from her dream and sat up. The pillow and the sheet were sweaty. She sat frozen for a while, dragging her bruised body to a shower.
After breakfast, she drove to the company.
“Miss Brooks, this will be your office.” Nydia heard someone say this barely before she got out of the elevator.
Her pace paused, and she looked to where it was coming from. A woman was standing elegantly in fancy clothes of luxury brands not far away, with her long black hair reaching her shoulders.
Josephine Brooks.
Cade had hidden her very well. Nydia had met her a lot of times but never got a chance to really see her face. Nydia was somehow curious about how beautiful Josephine was to bring Cade to her feet.

Seeming to have felt Nydia’s gaze, Josephine turned around slowly. After meeting Josephine’s gaze, Nydia immediately realized why Cade had disgusted her.
Because they were so different, she and Josephine. They were like the sun and the moon. One was aggressively dazzling, and the other was pure elegance and tenderness.
“Miss Brooks, this is Ms. Sharp. And Ms. Sharp, this is Miss Brooks.” The secretary introduced them to
each other.

to see you.”
Nydia nodded expressionlessly. “Miss Brooks, aren’t you here a little early? It’s not night yet.”

She hated Nydia but still kept her smile. “Cade drove me here in the morning. It is indeed a little abrupt.”
She almost said this in a showing–off way.
The secretary sensed the weird atmosphere and tried to alleviate the tension. “Ms. Sharp, Miss Brooks will be the new executive of the marketing department, equal to you in position. But as Mr. Jackson requested, Miss Brooks will only be responsible to him alone.”
