On the days when Cade and Josephine were not around, Nydia was comfortable at the company. Their new product was about to hit the market, and she was so busy that she often worked overtime until after ten at night. 

That day, as usual, Nydia worked until ten, tiredly collapsed in a chair to rest, and fell asleep in no time. A cold wind blew in from the window, and Nydia woke up with a jolt of cold. 

She glanced down at the time on her cell phone, ten to twelve. She was surprised that she had slept in her chair for over an hour. She squeezed her aching shoulders and prepared to get up when a news feed” from Reddit popped up on her phone. The name in it made Nydia instantly sober. She sat back and clicked on it. 

An article titled “Perfect Couple: Cade Jackson and His First Love, Josephine Brooks” was on the front page, enumerating every detail of their love affair in all these years. The picture of Cade peeling an apple with his head lowered was even more eye–catching. 

He was so quiet and gentle in this picture. His profile was perfect, with his long eyelashes drooping. He looked noble just sitting there with a red apple in his hand. Josephine’s slender right hand was revealed in the right corner, and the diamond ring on her middle finger was luxurious and dazzling. This picture 

said a lot. 

Cade showed everyone how important she was to him by caring for her in person. The ring symbolized their love. 

The comments went wild. People were exclaiming about what a fantastic couple they made. 

Someone commented, [Guess who is moved to tears by pure love? They have to be together. Plz.] 

Another one left a comment, saying, [I knew it! The gossip doesn’t simply appear out of nowhere. They have been in love for six years, and someone gets in between them.] 

Someone commented, [Maybe he is too nice to break up with his wife. He really should stop wasting time on her. Josephine is whom he belongs with,]

Those crazy comments made Nydia speechless. She never thought one day someone would use the 

word “nice” on Cade. That was like the biggest joke in this century. His looks totally fooled them. 

Nydia scrolled down a bit more and saw a distinctive comment, reading, [Am I the only sane person here? He HAS a wife! Why is he peeling an apple for another woman?] 

Soon enough, however, Nydia’s haters cornered and cursed this person. 

Nydia dropped her cell phone, facing her chair toward the window, and raised her hand to rub her temples.

This picture was a screenshot of Josephine’s ins, which meant Josephine posted this picture online herself. Besides, who would know better about all the details between her and Cade other than herself? Josephine made this piece of news as a declaration of war. Yes. A war between Nydia and Josephine.. 

Nydia was not interested in getting involved in this war between women. She didn’t give a damn about who Cade loved or peeled apples for. But some people did. 

Lance Nguyen knocked on her office door. He was a key figure in the Sharp Group. He came to talk with Nydia about the news on behalf of the rest. 

He would have had grandchildren if he hadn’t dedicated his life to the Sharp Group, but instead, he ended up alone in his fifties. 

He was a close friend of Nydia’s father, Jeremy Sharp. After Jeremy passed away, he became a father figure to Nydia. As she caught sight of his thin frame and greying hair, a wave of sadness washed over 

her.
