Chapter 0046

Laura

What’s wrong with you, Jason? What are you doing? You’re so close to me, so why don’t you kiss me? Why are you avoiding me? Who said I wanted to talk about work? I want you to kiss me. I need you to grab me and kiss me passionately. Furthermore, I need to feel you again. Can’t you see I’m feeling bad? I’m practically sick of you. I’m feeling sick. Stop playing hard to get and kiss me. Look at me and kiss me. Tell me you want me, and this time I’ll give it to you. Please, Jason, look at me…

But he didn’t look at all.  Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“It’s hot, isn’t it? I heard that the winter this year will be irregular,” he commented calmly after taking a look at the watch on his wrist.

“Oh, yes. It’s hot as hell,” I commented with a clumsy laugh. I was feeling a kind of heat that had nothing to do with the weather. We were still inside the elevator while the system was going up normally

“I hope there’s snow for Christmas this year,” he commented calmly, and I almost hit him. Was this time to talk about the weather? Why isn’t he pulling me by the waist and taking my lips in a fervent kiss?

“You have been missing. Have you been traveling?” I asked, not being able to hold

myself back.

“Yes, I was in São Paulo to discuss partnerships with a promising company there,”

he said.

“I bet you had a lot of fun there,” I commented.

“The city is charming, and the people are wonderful,” he said.

“Latinos have a vibrant energy,” I commented, gritting my teeth. I could bet he had a

lot of fun with the Brazilian Latinas.

Holy sh*t, now I’m jealous of him? “Please control yourself, Laura,” I thought, closing

my eyes.

“But most of the time I was in my office anyway, he said Avoiding me? I wanted to

case him, but just as I was about to speak, the elevator stopped and the door opened. Have a great Christmas, Mrs. Thompson,” he said and quickly left the elevator making me stare at his back in disappointment.

What a astard 1 can’t believe he managed to turn the spell against the wizard!

Jason Davies

I could only breathe again when I got out of that elevator. By God, that had been the greatest test of self–control I had ever seen in my entire life. Seeing Laura again after so many weeks away from her didn’t ease the crazy desire I had for this the slightest.

woman in

She was still so perfect that it made me dizzy just being next to her. I kept my voice steady, but Laura probably didn’t notice my clenched jaw or my hands clenched into fists as I held on with everything I had to not throw her against the wall of that elevator and kissed her so much until she died. She didn’t realize that every time she opened her mouth to speak or to giggle, I had to let out a sigh in an attempt to clear my thoughts, which were all focused on her.

Laura Thompson, how much do you make me suffer?

But I would still keep my promise and work to continue staying away from her. As much as I wanted to be with her, I had to respect her wishes. If she wanted me to stay away, then I would stay

away.

Days passed, and then I went back to working in my offices in the Empire State

Building, but today I was a little nostalgic because it was snowing outside. I looked

out the window at the snow falling outside and remembered that at that time, when

Laura and I were married, we loved playing in the snow. It was one of those

moments of leisure and fun, but nowadays, I recognize it as one of the happiest

moments of my life.

So while I was thinking about her, I opened a folder on my computer that was a copy of Laura’s project file that she had done at Nemesis. She had already returned to

Staten Island some time ago and seemed to be happy with Richard and their

daughter, she had certainly found someone to play in the snow with her.

I sighed seeing the great work my ex–wife had done at Nemesis, she was a genius, and everything she had touched, flourished. Thinking about her made me

melancholic, but I liked being sad sometimes, at least it was a feeling that connected

me more to her.

That’s when my intercom rang, and I answered reluctantly, not liking the

interruption. “Say, Kimberly,” I said to my secretary, since she was the one who had

called me

“Sorry for the interruption, Mr. Davies, but Lady Rosanne is outside and wants to see you,” she said, and I sighed. What did my mother want? She couldn’t have called

rather than come here

“Let her in, please,” I asked, allowing my mother to enter. I sighed again, already

preparing to receive the extravagant woman that was Lady Rosanne Constance

Davies.

The woman walked through the door and gave a big, happy meow, coming towards

me with open arms. “Oh, my son. I haven’t seen you in a long time,” she said, coming

over to give me a tight hug.

“Hi, mom. You don’t need to come to New York, just call and tell me what you need,” I

said to her, and she shook her head.

“But I wish I could see you in person and give you that hug, my son,” she said. She gave me another hug, and I rolled my eyes without her seeing.

“Wow! You’re so thin, you haven’t been eating well, right? Obviously, since your divorce, everything has gotten worse for you,” she said in a lecturing tone. There she goes, once again criticizing me for divorcing Laura.

“Yes, Mom. You’re right. Divorcing Laura was the worst thing I ever did in my life,” I said, remembering that as soon as I told her that I was divorcing Laura, my mother almost slapped me and yelled at me to get back with Laura, but I didn’t listen to her,

and now I’m in this situation.

“Oh, my son, don’t be like that. I blame your father, who gave you such a bad temper,” she said, and then laughed dryly. “He doesn’t even show up at home anymore because of that Mallory girl,” she said, mentioning the female name with disdain and

rolling her blue eyes like mine.

My parents were still formally married, but my father had already abandoned her a long time ago to live his sexual adventures with a younger woman in the city of Chicago tie and his friends were a bunch of billionaires who thought they were still teenagers in their fifties and who could live their lives as if it were a party.

I wasn’t connected to my father because of the things he did to my mother, but unfortunately, when I abandoned Laura for another woman, I ended up becoming more and more like him.

“Well, I hope Spencer and this Mallory girl live in a bad car accident,” I said. I kissed my mother’s shoulder and looked back at the computer.

“No, son. Please don’t wish harm on anyone, even the person you hate the most,” she said, all humble, and I shook my head.

“You’re just really nice, Mom,” I commented.

“Well, the only thing that would make me happy would be you showing up at the house for Christmas this year. Can you come over, please?” She invited me.
