“Can we make a snowman?” She asked after a while so we made a snowman while laughing and talking about snow, Christmas, and most of the time, about things that weren’t very important. 

When I was with her it was like I was in a different orbit, in a reality where I was really happy with my daughter. It was amazing how I could forget everything when I was with this little girl. I played with her a little more in the park until night fell and the weather got colder. 

“Atchim!” The girl let out a sneeze. 

“God bless,” I said and she giggled. “We’d better get somewhere warmer.” I took her in my arms to take her back to the car. 

“Are we going home? Mommy should be waiting for me,” she said as I sat her down in the car and buckled her in. 

“Mommy stayed with you for five years. Don’t you think it’s time y spent a day with Dad?” I asked, rubbing the tip of her nose with m finger, which was so red. 

“I think so,” she replied, giggling. I smiled too and left a warm kiss on the top of her head and then got into the car, starting it and leaving the square.

I kept thinking about the details that the girl did, simple things that showed how she was being raised so well with Laura. It was true that my ex-wife didn’t need me to raise that girl, she alone was doin great job. But even so, I would still insist on staying close to my daughter from now on.

My daughter sat at the table and looked at me. “Where’s Mommy?” 

She asked.
