Chapter 22

When I leave Fiona's I head straight home, hoping to find Henry there. But when I walk through the door Marina greets me. "Evangeline, did you have a nice appointment?"

"It was nice, yes." I lie, trying not to think about the idea of my baby being a stillborn again.

"Well Sebastian just got back and he's in the office."

"Thank you Marina." I smile and decide to check up on him. When I reach the door I kindly knock before he mutters for me to come in. First I see him with his head in his hands then I notice he's on the phone.

"I know, I know... Well we can't stop them." He groans. "It's not against any laws."

I quietly sit down in the seat in front of his desk and wait until he's done.

"You can't just stop them, because it will get innocent people hurt- they are innocent. I said it wasn't against any la- I know, but that's not breaking anything rules!" His voice begins to rise. "You know what, do whatever you want, but when your pack falls just like theirs will do not come running to me!"

Just as I think the conversation is over I hear yelling from the other side of the call.

"They won't last more then a month until someone takes their land... Maybe it will be... You? You can't even take the Trenvor Packs land- Well how about we make a bet?"

I decide to intervene. "No betting on pack lands." I stare hardly at him and he sighs.

"I can't- No, because it's a waist of time... That was before I grew up. Look I have to deal with something, I'll call you later just don't make any moves." Finally he ends the call and sets the phone down.

"Who was that?" I ask.

"Alpha Knowles, he found out a group of rouges is trying to start a new pack."

I bite my lip and lean back in my seat. "That's weird, a new pack?"

"They won't last long." He waves it off. "So how was the doctors?"

"Well she told me that everything is okay for now, but she did mention the possibility of a stillborn. She said not to worry but to continue what I'm doing."

He takes a deep breath. "Stillborn?"

"Don't worry, everything looks good it's just a precaution." I assure him and stand up. I place my hand over his. "Don't worry."

"Okay, well I talked to Henry."

"And?"

"And he said nothing." He stands up and heads for the doors but I grab his arm.

"What do you mean?" I ask, wanting to find out why he decided to scare me.

"He said nothing, he just told me Kandy was waiting for him so I just let him go."

I let go of Sebastian and follow him to the kitchen. "Fiona told me that-" I stop and lower my voice. "That Kandy is controlling."

"And?" He asks as he gets a glass of water. "They're mates?"

I sigh and sit down on one of the bar stools. "Somethings not right."

***Kandy***

"Hurry up I want to get inside."

Henry opens up the door and pulls me inside. I giggle and turn on the lights. "That was crazy!"

"That was too far." He groans and walks away, but I'm quick to follow him. "She was actually scared Kandy."

"I know you said you don't like her, but this was unnecessary. You'll get to know her and you'll find out she's a great person and Luna."

"I told you, I think somethings up with her, she's unstable and so is Sebastian."

He looks at me closely. "He's my brother?"

"I know, I just wanted to tell you what I think, I mean you are my mate. Can I not talk to you?" I let go of him and cross my arms, pouting.

"I'm sorry, and maybe sometimes they can be a little crazy but they're great rulers." He tries to convince me for the hundredth time.

"You aren't thinking about the future, and I think you'd make a strong Alpha." I say, hoping he agrees.

He stops. "What? How can you say that?"

"It's the truth." I continue on a limb. "He's evil and he needs to be stopped, he needs to be stopped by you."

"Are you trying to tell me that I should take the role as Alpha from my own brother?" He stares at me with open eyes, probably wondering if I'm the crazy one.

"Yes, that's what I'm saying." I grab onto him again, moving our faces closer together. "I love you Henery and I know the position belongs to you."

"You love me?" He asks innocently and I nod before kissing his lips.

"Yes and I need you to do this for us, we need to protect this pack from him."

He looks away, still unsure. "I'd, I'd have to..."

"Kill him, I know. But it's for the best Henry, he needs to be at peace." I convince him and rest my head on his chest.

"But-"

"It's for the best of the pack. The pack needs a fair leader like you. Evangeline and Sebastian, they'll be the end of the Tate rule and soon enough the pack will rebel against them. Do it before things turn messy and before they turn on us too."

He gazes into my eyes. "He's my brother, and what about Evangeline?"

"Don't worry about her and the baby, they won't be hurt. I'll make sure they're in a safe place. She doesn't have to know it was you, no one does."

He runs a hand through his hair. "I can't, I can't, this isn't me." He mutters.

"Baby, you'll be saving so many innocent werewolves, and Sebastian needs to be put to rest, he'll hurt more people then we can imagine."

Henry looks down at me and I hug him. "Please Henry, you're our only hope for a future."

"This can't be the only way."

"It is Henry, this is the only way to make things right. You'll be a hero, you'll be my hero."
