Rescue Mission - Part2

Axel and the others were keenly observing the scene in front of them. The three rogue guards who were talking to each other were taken off guard when two wolves suddenly attacked them from either side. Before the rogues could react, Axel and the warriors attacked them from the front, and they were dead within seconds.

They all slowly entered inside and saw the ground floor was completely empty. They sniffed around for any scent, and Axel said, ” There’s nobody on this floor.”

" I can smell something from downstairs,” one of the warriors, Drew, said. ” You all stay here. Let me check how many are present.”

Axel nodded and Drew slowly crept down the stairs. Once he reached the last step, he peeked inside, and at first glance, he could see around ten wolves. He observed their locations and went back to inform the others.

" I could see at least ten wolves, but they didn’t look like rogues, ” Drew observed.

" What do you mean?” another warrior, Lucia, asked.

" They looked like normal pack wolves.”

Axel was surprised while Adele said, ” Must be from the Firemoon Pack.”

" Do you mean Alpha Archer’s Pack?” Axel asked, shocked.

" Yes,” Adele signed.

" What has he got to do with this? Is he even involved in kidnapping now?” Axel asked, exasperated.

" Tone down, Bro, they will hear us. I will tell you later; first, we have to finish this.”

Axel nodded and calmed down a bit. ” If that’s the case, then there is a problem.”

“What?” asked Drew.

" We cannot kill a pack wolf without a valid reason; it’s against the werewolf law.”

" But they are doing a crime by kidnapping someone,” Lucia said.

" We are still not sure about that. What if Sybil is not here?” Adele stated.

" Then what do we do now?” another warrior asked.

" Just injure them or render them unconscious. No killing,” Axel warned.

Everyone nodded and slowly moved downstairs. ” You stay at the back, ” Axel told Adele and Sera.

Adele and Sera moved back, and the others got in position. They suddenly attacked, and the fight commenced.

While everyone was busy fighting, Adele faced Sera, “Let’s go check the rooms. ”

They both entered the first room and found it to be empty. They came out, and Adele saw a locked room at the corner. ” We should check that one,” Adele said, pointing at the room. They hurried towards it, and Adele tried opening it but failed.

At the same time, a wolf attacked her from behind, and Sera shrieked, ” “Watch out.” Adele moved at the right time, and the wolf banged his head on the door and fell unconscious.

Luckily Sera saw the keys hanging from his pocket and bent down to grab them. ” Try these, ” she said, handing it to Adele.

After trying the keys, the door opened up, and Sera rushed inside and saw her Mom lying at the corner unconscious.

" Mama,” she exclaimed and ran towards her and hugged her. Sera was happy to see her mother, but she got worried when Sybil didn’t react.

" Why is she not responding?” Sera cried out, looking at Adele.

Adele bent down and checked her heartbeat. ” I can hear the heartbeat. She must be unconscious; we need to take her to the hospital.”

By now, Axel and the others had dealt with the wolves and joined Adele.

" You found her,” Axel remarked. ” Let’s leave immediately. One of the wolves has called for reinforcements.”

Drew bends down and picks up the unconscious Sybil, and they all rush outside and get inside the car. ” Where to?” Axel asked.

" Let’s go home, ” Adele said, thinking Chris would surely not be welcoming towards Sybil and Sera.

Axel drove towards the main road, and Adele thought about what had happened just now. “Don’t you think it was too easy?”

Axel was confused. ” What?”

Even Sera thought about it and said, ” Yes, I agree. ”

" I was expecting Archer and Samara to be there,” Adele remarked. ” Archer knew we might come to rescue Sybil, but still, he was not here. What could have been more important than this?”

" I will tell you once we take Sybil to the hospital,” Adele said, and they drove towards Silverlake Pack.

As soon as they reached the Silverlake Pack, Adele’s phone started vibrating in her pocket. She took it out and saw it was Maria.

She picked the call, and Maria asked, ” Where are you, Adele?” Maria’s tone was not the usual friendly one, and Adele instantly knew something was wrong. ” What happened? Are the kids fine?” she asked, panicked.

" The kids are okay, but you...you lied to me, ” Maria said, her voice laced with hurt.

Adele realized they must have found Sera missing from the dungeon. ” I am sorry, Maria. I didn’t intend to hurt you, but it was essential. I will explain it to you as soon as I come there.”

" Where are you right now?”

" I am at my pack.”

" Come back immediately.”

" Does Chris know? Is he...” Adele abruptly stopped when she realized her brother, sitting beside her, was looking at her intently. Her attention was back on Maria when she heard the words, ” The situation here is worse than you think.”

" Why? What happened?” Adele enquired.

" You come back right now and see for yourself, ” Maria said in a hurry and disconnected the call.

" Looks like you have a lot to say,” Axel said as soon as Adele put her phone back in her pocket.

" I-I sure do, but right now, I have to get back to my kids,′ Adele whispered.

Axel wanted answers but not at the cost of keeping the newborn pups away from their mother for long. ” Ok, I will drop you home now, and you can come back tomorrow. Get the kids along with you.”

" I can drive back myself, ” Adele said hurriedly as she didn’t want Axel to be at the Blackwood Pack right now, knowing Chris’s mood.

Axel checked the time and said, ” It’s already late, and I can’t let you drive now.”

“You take Sybil to the hospital. Drew can drop me home,” Adele suggests.

Axel agrees, and Adele leaves the Silverlake Pack with Drew. On her way back, Adele was lost in her thoughts about the impending problem.

When she reached the Blackwood pack, the scene she met with was not something she had expected. Most of the pack members were gathered in front of the Packhouse, looking tense. Adele had expected Chris to be angry with her, but this seems to be too much.

She walked towards the Packhouse and saw Chris standing at the door, looking furious. His eyes were bloodshot, and the moment he saw Adele, he dashed towards her and held her arms forcefully. ” Where did you take that witch?” he roared.

Adele winced a little at Chris’s tone. She had never seen him this angry.

She took a deep breath and replied calmly, ” She is at my pack.”

" Come, let’s go and talk to her,” Chris said and started dragging her towards the car.

Adele was shocked. She was expecting Chris to scold her, but he was literally forcing her. She tried to get rid of his hold on her, but Chris was way too strong. ” Stop,” she yelled out, but Chris ignored her. She tried again, but Chris didn’t stop, and they were now almost at the car.

Adele could vaguely hear whisperings among the pack members that from the time Adele had joined Blackwood Pack, she had only caused problems for the Alpha and their Pack. This made her blood boil, and she screamed at the top of her voice. ” Will you stop?”

Finally, Chris stopped and faced Adele.

“Leave my hand. You are hurting me,” Adele spat.

" Hurting you? It’s you who has always tried to hurt us,” Chris retaliated.

" What nonsense are you talking about? When did I ever hurt you?”

" Always. Just today, you got that f**king witch to our Pack.”

" You are not making any sense. How can you get hurt by that?” Adele said, looking straight into Chris’s eyes, but she was unexpectedly startled. His eyes no longer held anger, but there was pain, and it looked like he was almost in tears.

" Years ago, a witch came into our Pack and destroyed everything.” Chris started, and then his voice stuttered a bit. ” A-And today after so many years, another witch came here and...” Chris couldn’t say anything further.

Adele was worried now. She held Chris’s hands and pleaded, ” What happened? Please tell me.”

" T-They took him,” Chris whispered.

" Took whom?” Adele pressed.

" They took him... Liam.”
