" It’s time we own up to our mistakes. In fact, we should have done it long back,” Liam’s wolf Lex said.

“How do we do that?” Liam asked.

" Why should our mate suffer? She is trapped in the moonstone because of us, so it should be me who should be there, not her,” Lex says with determination.

Liam was so shocked at his wolf’s proposition that he couldn’t say anything. He didn’t want to lose his wolf, nor did he want his mate to suffer.

" Why didn’t I think about that earlier?” Chris’s wolf Conan suddenly blurts out. It looks like Lex was communicating with him too.

" What are you thinking, and why are you contacting me now after a year?” Chris asked.

" I am talking to Lex,” Conan replied.

" What the f**k is going on?” Chris asked, looking at Liam’s ashen face.

" L-Lex’s suggesting he should be the one to sacrifice instead of Alexa,” Liam stuttered.

Chris was initially confused, but his face fell when he understood his point.

" If it has come to this, then I should be the one who should sacrifice, not you, Lex,” Conan stated. " You didn’t trust her because of me.”

" I can’t let you do that, Conan,” Lex growled.

" I have already made my mate bear the brunt of my mistakes. I can’t do that to you again,” Conan said sadly.

" You are an Alpha; you have responsibilities,” Lex tried to convince him.

" Chris can take care of that.”

" Alpha’s are usually on target. What if Chris’s life is in danger?” Lex remarked.

" Samara is the greatest threat, who is trapped right now. Anything other than that, I am sure he can manage without me for two years.”

" Why are you not saying anything, Liam?” Lex barked in irritation.

" I-I don’t know what to say. I don’t want to lose you or anyone for that matter.”

" So you want Alexa and Adele to face it all?” Lex seethed.

“........” Liam was lost for words.

" Are you still considering letting Lex face the consequences for our doing?” Conan asked Chris.

" Of course not.” Chris looked offended.

" Then why are you not convincing Liam?”

" I am shocked. This is huge. I never thought I would lose you,” Chris said, feeling helpless.

" Do we have a choice?”

Whatever way Chris thought, this was the best option to help Adele from her predicament.

" This is not a time for second thoughts. The full moon is in two days, and we need to act fast. ”

" Liam...” Chris started. ” You and Lex won’t do anything; it’s our responsibility now.”

" But Chris... Do you think the Pack members would accept a wolfless Alpha? And what if other werewolves try to harm you, thinking you are vulnerable?”

" Seriously, right now, I don’t care. All our life, we have been thinking only about the Pack. It’s time we do something for our mate,” Chris said with certainty.

" But Chris...”

" What do I have to fear for when you are here to protect me?”

" I will always protect you, but I still feel...”

“You have always agreed to whatever I say, so I need your cooperation in this too. We have to do this for Adele and Alexa.”

" But you will be in pain...” Liam says in exasperation.

" So is Adele...!!! And that’s why we must do this.”

" But will it work? Didn’t Sera say we can trap Samara only on the special Blood Moon day?”

" That was when all three of us do it together. What if we can do it anytime when we are doing it alone? It can be a possibility.”

“I don’t know, Chris,” Liam said, looking lost.

" At least we can ask Sybil about it,” Chris said.

Liam was silent, and it looked like he would relent.

" Please, Liam,” Chris insisted. ” It’s only for two years, and maybe after this, Adele will be back here.”

The idea of Adele coming back was too good to refuse. ” O-Okay.”

" Great. Let’s go to Silverlake pack ask Axel about Sybil’s whereabouts.”

Meanwhile, at the Silverlake Pack, Adele was talking to her old friend Kane, who was more like a brother. He was Axel’s childhood best friend.

" So, how did your mate hunting go? Did you find her?” Adele asked.

" No,” Kane said, looking disappointed. ” I looked in all the packs for a goddamn year but no use.”

" Cheer up, Kane!! You will find her soon.”

" I hope so, ” Kane said and then looked at Adele sadly. ” I heard about your wolf.”

" Hmmm...” Adele said, not willing to talk about it.

Kane understood Adele was reluctant to talk, so he changed the topic. ” By the way... where are the kids? I want to see them.”

" Come on, ” Adele got up from her seat, and Kane followed her.

" I was about to take them shopping. Why don’t you join us?” Adele asked.

" Sounds good.”

Kane was waiting at the parking lot with Ian as Adele was getting Iris ready. Chris and Liam came to the Silverlake Pack and parked their car at that exact time.

Chris spotted Kane holding Ian and scowled. ” Who’s that guy holding my son?”

He got down from the car and approached Kane. ” Who are you?” he asked not too gently.

" I should be asking you that,” Kane answered, raising his eyebrow.

“Daa...daa...” Ian said and tried to jump on Chris.

Chris glared at Kane and gave him a now-you-know look, and snatched Ian away from Kane.

" Sooo... you are that jerk,” Kane said when he realized he was talking to Adele’s mate.

" What do you mean?” Chris roared.

Adele came out of the Packhouse holding Iris in her arms and saw Kane and Chris arguing. ” What’s going on?”

" Who’s this guy?” Chris asked calmly not to sound rude to Adele.

" He’s my friend, Kane,” Adele said casually.

" Are you ready to go?” Kane asked Adele.

Adele nodded and looked at Chris and Liam. ” I am going shopping with the kids, so you should come later.”

Chris snorted. ” But the other day, you said no to shopping.”

" That was with you,” Adele replied curtly.

" So you will go with this freak?” Chris growled, clenching his fist. He wanted to wipe that smirk off the guy’s face who was going f**king shopping with his mate and kids.

" He’s a good friend, and he is not a freak,” Adele replied angrily.

" But you are our mate,” Liam interrupted.

" Don’t get me started on that,” Adele said sarcastically and took Ian away from Chris and entered the car.

" Shall we come with you?” Liam asked hopefully.

" No, ” Adele said without looking at him and left with Kane.

" Sh*t!!!” Liam cursed. ” We should be going with her, not that so-called ‘Friend.’” Liam said the last word with contempt.

" Let’s follow them,” Chris suggested. He was jealous and wanted to know what they would do. What if Adele falls in love with him? That’s not possible, right? She’s our mate.

" What are we waiting for, ” Liam said, and they hurriedly sat in their car and sped off the direction Adele went.

They reached a mall and maintained their distance so Adele wouldn’t spot them.

Adele entered the baby store with Kane while Chris and Liam hid behind a pillar to hear what they talked about.

" Don’t you think they are too close?” Chris asked, looking pissed.

" Yes, they surely are,” Liam replied, equally pissed.

Kane put his hands on Adele’s arm while he cracked a joke.

" I want to rip his hand off,” Liam snarled.

" I will join you,” Chris said, annoyed. ” Why is she even smiling at that pathetic joke? ”

Iris looked excited and clapped her hands, taking the toy from her Mom. After shopping, Adele and Kane went to a cafe to have coffee.

" Why is she having coffee with him? The shopping is done, so she should be headed home,” Chris said, running a hand through his hair in frustration.

" We never bothered to take her out, not even for a coffee, ” Liam said remorsefully.

" Because we were fools, ” Chris said, angry at himself. ” We don’t even know what she likes.”

Adele looked at the menu and ordered her coffee. She had come to the cafe to feed her babies, so she gave a feeding bottle to each of her kids, who sucked at it hungrily.

After feeding the kids, she looked around the cafe and glanced back at Kane. ” Please look after the kids for me. I will be back in a minute.”

Kane nodded, and Adele got up and left.

She approached Chris and Liam, who looked as if they were caught with their hand in a cookie jar. ” What are you doing here?”

" Ummmm....” Liam thought about what to say.

" We... We came for shopping...For Ian and Iris,” Chris replied.

" Then why are you hiding here?”

" Who’s hiding? We were looking for the store. Did you find it, Liam?”

" Stop pretending and go back home. You can take the kids with you, ” Adele suggested.

" No...” Liam replied suddenly.

Adele rolled her eyes and went back to the coffee shop.

" Why did you say no? We could have spent some time with the kids,” Chris asked.

" Do you want Adele to be alone with that jerk?”

" Absolutely not.”
