Chapter 8: Zia

Wrong. Everything was wrong. She shouldn’t have done it. Dancing and kissing him but her body refused to acknowledge it as a mistake. She couldn’t walk away even though she wanted to. It wasn’t her who cast a spell on him. It was him casting a spell on her because she couldn’t move a muscle except kissing his lips in full of needs and desires. A kiss after a kiss, Zia was addicted to the taste of his lips. A mixed of bourbon and peppermint. Her lips felt swollen after so many kisses between them but she loved all of it.

“Damn it, Zia,” Jaxon rested his forehead on hers again, fanning his hot breath on her skin. “You’re so irresistible.”

He touched her cheek, sending waves of shivers into her body. What was he doing to her now? She didn’t want him to stop it. It felt so damn good.

She shouldn’t be doing this with him. She had a boyfriend. This was so wrong and yet it felt so right.

They went back to the bar, drinking some more until her eyes caught a familiar physique of a man. Her eyes followed the man who exited through the back door with a woman. Zia got up from her chair and followed like a lost puppy until Jaxon’s hand stopped her from opening the door.

“I don’t think you would want to go there,” he said, shaking his head.

She ignored him and pushed the door opened, greeted by the sound of a girl moaning and a man grunting. He had her pinned against the wall and her skirt was hoisted up her waist. Zia froze when she recognized the tattoo at the back of the man’s neck.

“B-Brody?” she stuttered. Her own voice betrayed her.

He dropped the girl and spun, “Zia...what?”

His eyes were bewildered as he zipped up his jeans. Zia knew she had crossed the line when she kissed Jaxon but what Brody did to her right now was unforgivable. Even though she never spoke the words of love to Brody, it didn’t mean she would cheat behind him. No, she wasn’t that kind of woman. But seeing him screwing another woman in the night he was supposed to be working, Zia felt a pang of pain on her chest.

She ran into the bar again with Brody following her. As soon as they were out of the bar again, through the front door, he caught her wrist.

“Zia, let me explain, please.” he pleaded.

She yanked her wrist from his grip, “Don’t ever touched me again!”

He caught both of her arms, “Stop fighting me!”

Before she could fight him off, he was yanked away from her by no other than Jaxon. An angry Jaxon. He threw a few punches against Brody’s face before Zia intercepted. She didn’t need Jaxon to commit first-degree murder in front of eyewitnesses while she could do it by herself.

“Jaxon, stop, please,” she begged him, wrapping her arms around his waist to stop him from advancing to Brody. “It’s not worth it.”

Brody stood up, spitting out blood, “You were angry I screwed another woman while you did the same to another man?”

“At least I didn’t shove a dick up into my vagina!” Zia defended.

“You were about to. You’re a whore just like—”

Jaxon lunged on him again. He could have killed Brody in the spot. Once again, Zia intercepted but Jaxon ignored her attempt. Without much choice, she cupped his face and kissed him right in front of Brody.

“Bring me out of here,” she mumbled against Jaxon’s lips. “Please, Jaxon.”

He hooked one arm around her, pulling her body into his embrace before they walked away, leaving Brody on the floor. Zia didn’t care anymore. Even if Jaxon ended up as a serial killer, what else could she lose right now? The man who she had been in a relationship with, for more than three years had cheated behind her back. She couldn’t believe it but seeing it by her own eyes, she wondered how long he had done this behind her.

Jaxon’s face remained unreadable as he opened the door of his truck. Zia hopped in without much reluctant. If he could distract her thought, then she would follow him everywhere.

He hopped into the driver’s seat and started the engine before driving away. Zia could see Brody got up from the ground, looking to the back of Jaxon’s truck. She remained silent in her seat, thinking how Brody managed to fool her. She knew women were always throwing themselves to him but she didn’t expect him to return the gesture.

She glanced at Jaxon. His entire body still tensed and his hand clenched on the steering wheel until she could see his knuckle was turning white. She didn’t know where he was taking her and she didn’t care about it. What she cared right to know was how Jaxon reacted when Brody grabbed her arms. Something about this man being violent was turning her on.

“Stop the car,” she ordered him but he didn’t listen to her. “Jaxon, stop the damn car!”

He grunted and swerved the car to the roadside before stopping it. Zia unbuckled her seatbelt and climbed to his lap before kissing his lips as if her life was depending on it. He responded instantly. The kiss wasn’t passionate. They were kissing each other hungrily and full of lust as if they were two lovers had been separated for a long time. Zia moaned into his mouth when his calloused hands slipped under the cropped top she was wearing, setting her body on fire. If she had to think the way her body reacted to Jaxon’s touch, no other man ever did to her. Even the simplest touch from Jaxon could set her entire body on fire. She was burning hot for his touches. Screw everything else. She needed this. She craved for his touch.

“Exploit my body to your mercy,” she whispered breathlessly against his ear. “I want you, Jaxon.”

Primal growls erupted from his chest. Zia wanted him to distract her thoughts and she knew just a way to do it.

But his reply to her request was like sending a cold dagger through her body.

“No,” he stopped her hand from unbuckling his belt.
