Yuffie took an exclamatory breath and continued before Howard could reply. “How did you rescue Riley then? Reynolds is much stronger than Aellus!” 

“We called the police. They helped me to rescue her,” said Howard with a smile. 

“Really?!” Yuffie stared questioningly at Howard. 

“Yuffie! Are you done?” Kaylee raised her voice again.. 

Then, she faced Howard and Yoel and grumbled. “We’re already distressed by the Aellus family, and now you’re telling me you’ve made a bigger mess for us! You like being in trouble, don’t you?! Of course, it doesn’t matter to the two of you. You two could just come and leave any time you wish, but have you thought about us? We can’t stay in Nimbulus and go back to Mendorra. So, you tell me, where should we go?” 

Talia and Yuffie became solemn when they heard what their mom had said. Kaylee was right. How did they live in the future? 

“Ma’am, don’t worry!” Howard looked at Kaylee. “I’ll follow you to Mendorra. If there’s any difficulty, I’ll deal with it. Please believe me when I promised to compensate you a thousand times!” 

“Humph!” Kaylee snorted coldly. “You wish! Going back to Mendorra For what?! What can you do there? How do we survive there?” 

“Ma’am, these are not problems. I’ve already thought about it. Don worry. I promise-” Howard tried to persuade Kaylee. 

“Enough!” Yet, Kaylee frowned and interrupted him before he coul finish.

Kaylee continued after a quick pause. “Thank you for saving Riley. I’ll take it as if you were repaying the kindness that I saved you back 

then. You may leave now.” 

“Talia!” Howard took a breath. “Riley won’t wake up so soon. Can we have a walk outside?” 

“No, you can’t! Don’t think that we should be grateful to you even though you’ve saved Riley. I’m telling you-” Kaylee shouted again and did not give Talia a chance to respond. 

“Kaylee, quit lecturing, please!” Holden frowned slightly, then looked at Talia. “Tally, you should go with him. Go and talk things out!” 

“Okay.” Talia agreed after she had a moment’s thought. She then laid Riley on the couch and walked toward the door. Howard then bade farewell to Mister and Missus Jenkins and caught Talia up. Yoel did the same after Howard. 

Two minutes later the two were strolling in a corridor, while Yoel was keeping a distance behind them. 

“Thank you again for saving Riley!” Talia said as she walked. 

“She’s my daughter too. I was just doing what a father would normally do. You don’t have to stand on ceremony to me,” Howard responded. After a pause, he continued, “Talia, I’m sorry. I know I ruined your life. I really don’t know five years ago-” 

“That was my choice. it had nothing to do with you!” Talia interrupted 

him.
