Legacy of Darkness
No Better To Be Safe Than Sorry

The elevator door closed behind Rychard and Chrys, as Roisin turned back to look at Myra.

"You seem familiar, are you sure we have never met?" Roisin asked, as Myra paced back and forth slowly.

"I probably just have one of those faces" Myra shrugged.

"Yes, you do have one of those faces" Ashe shrugged, Myra turned to look at Ashe. "One of those punchable ones" Ashe smirked. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

"Ashe..." General Summers frowned. Myra marched over toward Ashe and put her hand around her throat.

"Think you're smart do you?!" Myra growled. Roisin ran toward Myra, but was tackled over by a strong brute force.

"Argh!" Roisin yelled, she turned to look at who had tackled her, to see the frozen face of Bryan Fyre, Roisin quickly backed away. "What the fuck!" She shouted.

"Oh yeah, I probably should have mentioned the bodyguard situation" Myra shrugged.

"Dad... what's going on?" Ashe asked, as she looked over to her father. Myra turned back to Ashe and released his grip.

"Iceman, enough" Myra called over to Bryan, Bryan backed away slowly and walked over to Myra. Roisin climbed to her feet.

"What did you do to him?" Roisin asked.

"I did nothing, it was his own greed" Myra shrugged. "If anything, I saved him" She added.

"Saved him? I'd rather be dead than... that" Ashe said, pointing at Bryan.

"Look, let this be a lesson to you, stay out of Crystech business, and most definitely stay out of the way of the Senior Partners" Myra warned Roisin and Ashe.

"Bring Rychard back, and we'll go" Ashe commanded.

"I think not little girl" Myra shrugged.

"Ashe, don't..." General Summers sighed. Ashe looked her dad and clenched her fist.

"Dad... how can you stand by and let this happen?" She shouted. "You're a coward!" She added.

"Ashe" General Summers began, he struggled to get his words out. "We're in too deep, I did this to protect you, to protect Roisin. To keep you safe" He explained.

"Keep us safe how?" Roisin asked.

"Enough. Leave." Myra shouted.

"Only if my dad comes with us" Ashe frowned.

"I'm sorry, little one. Your father is... he's part of this now" Myra actually looked sincere when she apologised.

"Dad..." Ashe said, as tears flowed down her cheeks.

"I love you, Ashe" General Summers cried. "Now, go, please" He added. Ashe broke down into tears. Roisin ran over to comfort her.

"Come on, Ashe, lets get back to the ship" Roisin sighed, as she helped Ashe up. Myra watched as Roisin walked Ashe aboard The Wild Rose.

"I love you..." General Summers whispered, as he watched the airship fly away. Once the ship was gone from sight, all that could be heard was the howling wind. Bryan and the soldiers left the landing bay, leaving just Myra and General Summers stood alone.

"Thank you, for sparing them" General Summers sighed.

"I didn't do it for you" Myra shrugged. She lifted her hand into the air and snapped her fingers, changing back into her Lumina form. "I did it for my sister" She added.

"Your sister?" General Summers asked.

"For some reason, she's warmed to Roisin" Lumina shrugged. General Summers shook his head.

"Just what is your endgame, Lumina?" He asked.

"Oh, right, yeah, I'm just gonna tell you the truth because you asked so kindly" Lumina chuckled.

"You tear down cities, kill millions, then disappear for a year" General Summers sighed. "Where did you go?" He asked.

"I was away, on 'business'" Lumina winked, as she turned to leave. "Oh, shut the landing bay doors on your way out, General" She smirked, as she walked away and left the room.

General Summers was now stood alone in the large room. The wind howled so loudly that it was almost deafening. General Summers walked toward the doors, the winds blew his long grey wool coat wildly.

"Forgive me, Ashe" General Summers sighed, he took his cap off and rested it atop a crate. He walked slowly to the edge of the landing bay, toward the open doors. The winds blew his long grey coat from his shoulders, as he stared down into the grey abyss. The city stood below, but the blizzard shrouded it from view.

"General" A voice spoke up from behind the General.

General Summers turned around to see Amanda, stood with Seb.

"Amanda, I was just..." General Summers began.

"You can't give up, I know it's hard... but we're making headway" Amanda interrupted the General. "Finding out Myra was Lumina was great work. But we still need to know who these Senior Bastards are, and why they hold power over even her" Amanda explained.

General Summers looked back out into the vast grey expanse, before walking back toward Amanda.

"You're right... it's just seeing Ashe" General Summers frowned.

"I know, it was hard for me too, knowing Ariel was so close" Amanda sighed.

"No, its not that" General Summers sighed. He looked up at the large lights shining down onto the cold landing bay, their electric glow making the room seem unnaturally white. "If she knew what we'd done..." He sighed.

"What we did, we did for Crystalla" Seb interrupted. "We can't second guess ourselves" He added.

"Right... I guess so" General Summers replied, with a forced smile.

The three of them made their way toward the exit, as the large landing bay door shut, before the door closed, one last gust of wind sent the General's hat flying across the room.
