Legends of Amacia The Awakening
Chapter 33 Kitchen Briefing

Meanwhile, Hanna and Selina sat at the kitchen table having some breakfast. Enoch, Kida, Electra, Andrew, Harry sat at the table with them making small talk as Hanna and Selina ate. Everyone noticed Hanna and Selina were quieter than normal. Just as Hanna finished cleaning her plate, Harry said, “Hanna, you seem subdued this morning. I haven’t seen you this quiet since you told me of the mutation dream. What’s wrong?”

“I noticed it too,” Enoch agreed. “You’ve hardly said anything since coming to the table. Usually, you’re a chatterbox at breakfast time. Selina’s also unusually quiet. What’s bothering you two?”

Hanna sighed as she sipped her bison milk and honey. “Is it that obvious?” she asked.

“Duh, yeah,” Harry chimed sarcastically. “I’m not telepathic, but I can clearly see it written all over your face. Something happened. What is it? You can tell us.”

“Tell them, sis,” Selina said softly. “They have to know.”

“Okay,” Hanna conceded. “I supposed I was going to have to eventually tell you. Gabriel paid us a visit before we came down here this morning. He had Dan and Paul with him.”

“Oh, my,” Electra breathed.

“You’re kidding,” Harry balked. “You have got to be shitting me.”

“I’m not kidding,” Hanna stated with a sobering look on her face. “I had just finished braiding Selina’s hair when Gabriel just popped in without warning like he always does with four war angels armed to the teeth. Both Dan and Brother Paul were with them.”

“Well, seeing your look, I guess I can believe you,” Harry conceded. “You’ve never lied to me about such things before. How are Dan and Paul?”

“They’re doing very well,” Hanna stated. “I was actually happy to see them. I’d begun to miss their faces.”

“How did they take to you being a woman?” Harry asked with a raised eyebrow. “I bet that was a shock and a half to them.”

“Well, Dan already knew because Gabriel brought him to see me when I was in Death Row in the Black Fortress,” Hanna stated. “So he already knew. But Paul was genuinely shocked and it took a few minutes for him to realize who I was. It seems the Lord wanted Paul to see me before I am restored to my male form.”

“I bet it blew his mind,” Harry said, laughing softly. “But let’s face it. Gabriel just doesn’t appear for trivial reasons. Something big is shaking. What is it?”

“I agree,” Enoch stated. “I know the Ancient of Days just doesn’t send Gabriel on missions that could easily be accomplished by a lesser angel. He had some major news for you, didn’t he?”

Hanna sighed deeply, sipping on her glass of bison milk again. After a few moments, Hanna said bluntly, “He did. One of the goals of the visit was for me to explain the concept of the completed soul to Dan and Paul so they could start exposing everyone to it. They didn’t get it until I showed them that truth telepathically. They should start sharing it with our people at Tiamat first.”

“But that wasn’t the only thing Gabriel wanted to do, was it?” Andrew surmised. “He showed you something far greater that has you seriously withdrawn. What is it?”

Hanna hesitated and Selina urged, “Go on, Hanna. Tell them. You’ll not get your peace back until you do and you know it.”

“You’re right,” Hanna agreed. Looking down at the table, she declared, “FATE is stirring, Enoch. Gabriel showed it to Dan and Paul on the way here.”

Enoch’s face fell with dismay. “You’re not talking about the Etherian FATE computer complex, are you?” he asked.

“One and the same,” Hanna answered bluntly as she looked Enoch in the eye. “The FATE AI is stirring in the Fornax. For the moment, it’s surrounded by a bubble inside which time and space is splintered and collapsed. Past, present, and future all collapsed into FATE’s central brain complex. It’s the most surreal thing I’ve ever seen.”

“How did you see it?” Kida asked.

“Since Dan and Paul saw it, Gabriel insisted I use my telepathy to see what they saw,” Hanna explained. “And believe me; what I saw boggles the imagination. Worse yet, FATE is the foul presence I feel stirring in the east. As long as it remained sealed inside the time bubble...what Gabriel called a Temporal Disruption, it remained dormant and asleep. However, when the Emperor located it and penetrated that bubble to mine FATE for its tech, it started to re-awaken.”

“God damn him,” Enoch hissed venomously. “The Emperor should have realized how dangerous it was to mess around with FATE. That infernal computer has the power to destroy reality as we know it. It was the control mechanism the Etherians used to create and access the Nexus.”

“This is very bad,” Harry stated grimly. “Is this thing awake, Hanna? Can you tell if it’s awake?”

“It’s not awake,” Hanna declared. “But it’s definitely stirring. The more the Emperor messes with it, the more apt it is to awaken fully. We cannot let it wake up. But that’s not the strangest thing about what I’m sensing from FATE.”

“You know its signature,” Electra said. “It’s familiar to you as an enemy and you don’t know why.”

“Bingo,” Hanna admitted. “I know this thing by heart, but I don’t remember ever encountering anything like it. FATE, the Battle of Drakonia, my ability to use elemental power by instinct, even Grimm...they’re all connected to that missing time in Bolivia.” Hanna paused, as if to work up the courage to continue.

Enoch moved over and knelt beside Hanna, putting his hand on her shoulder. “It’s okay,” he cooed. “I sense a great truth about to be revealed here. It’s okay to tell us. Only by telling us can you relinquish the burden Gabriel put on you with this revelation.”

“Dad’s right,” Andrew agreed, reaching across the table and briefly holding Hanna’s hand. “Don’t keep it bottled up. It’s just like the thing about the completed soul. You have to share it.”

“Thanks, guys,” Hanna said softly, touching Enoch’s hand on her shoulder. “It helps. I think that’s why Dan and Paul were there too. Dan kept saying he and Paul were there as witnesses.”

“And now we’re witnesses,” Kida stated. “Let us help you carry this by sharing it with us.”

“Very well,” Hanna conceded with a growing smile as she felt the burden slowly lifting. “Our perception of reality is about to change dramatically. Gabriel revealed the true nature of creation to us this morning. The guy that keeps showing up turning the tide against the Emperor in the Battle of Drakonia...I’m that guy, or rather a strange younger version of me. I apparently fell into a time warp in Bolivia with my friends and ended up there. I’ve leapt through time and space on more than one occasion, though I have no idea how or why it happened. It just did and apparently, that’s why I’m familiar with the energy signature of FATE and Grimm. I encountered them in the warp.” Everyone except Selina gasped in astonishment.

When the shock wore off, Enoch patted Hanna on the shoulder and smiled. “That explains so much,” he chimed, sitting back down at the table facing Hanna. “Please, continue. Tell us everything.”

“It seems we live in a multiversal reality created by the Ancient of Days,” Hanna stated. “This reality around us is but one of an infinite number of dimensions and universes the Almighty created.” With that, she laid out what Gabriel revealed about the multiverse, Lucifer’s rebellion, Grimm, and how it all fit together. She also told them what was happening on the surface and even the part where Dan and Paul felt the life of the Earth itself. Everyone listened intently, not completely understanding the mechanics of what Hanna explained, but believing it nonetheless. As she finished explaining it to them, Hanna declared, “I’m going to be the first to admit that I don’t completely understand or even grasp what Gabriel shared. But I know it’s the truth. It’s so bizarre it has to be. There are other dimensions, other universes, other realities all of them existing together in the same time and space. Lucifer’s fall into what Gabriel called the Dark Dimension shook the entire multiverse, creating all kinds of time and spacial warps, even dimensional warps. It seems the Almighty led me into one of those warps in Bolivia. Obviously, one time and place I ended up was at the Battle of Drakonia. How I got back, I don’t know. It’s a mystery. However, since it’s now pretty obvious to me that I was there at the Battle of Drakonia, it explains why I keep having these screwy nightmares about it. Moreover, it explains why I recognize FATE’s signature. FATE was a big player in that battle through its War Machine. God, how I wish I was just an ordinary girl with ordinary problems.”

“I know you do,” Electra purred, reaching over and touching Hanna on the hand. “But you must realize how special you really are now. The Almighty chose to reveal this information to you first, not any of us. Only you got the first glimpse of the true nature of our world so you could share it with the rest of us. It’s no different than Him showing you the mystery of the completed soul first. I am so humbled that He chose you to disseminate these truths. Please, don’t let it get you down.”

Hanna patted Electra’s hand with her free hand. A sigh escaped her lips. “Don’t worry,” she told everyone. “I’m not going to kick against the pricks again. I am incredibly humbled the Almighty showed me these treasures, though I can’t even begin to fathom why.”

“The Lord works in mysterious ways,” Harry stated, stunned at everything Hanna shared. “I’m not going to lie. I can’t even begin to understand most of what you just said, but it’s obvious it’s the truth. Like you said, it’s too bizarre to be anything but the truth. Still, even though I can’t wrap my mind around it, that doesn’t mean the Lord won’t eventually show me what it means. You should keep that in mind, Hanna. The Lord just doesn’t throw around such priceless treasures of truth without knowing how people will take it. He will show you what it all means in His own good time. You know what I think?”

“What?” Hanna asked, feeling the burden of the revelation slowly lifting as Harry spoke his mind.

“I think the Lord sent Gabriel to give you a major intelligence briefing,” Harry suggested. “It’s need to know information and you apparently need to know it at this point. And that points to something really big on the horizon that He didn’t want us to be blindsided by.”

“I agree,” Enoch chimed. “This is indeed major intelligence you need at this point. Everything you’re encountering has been pointing to you traveling in time and space through these warps. Gabriel explained the nature of the multiverse to you so you could grasp the reality of these time and space warps, one of which you apparently fell through in this place you call Bolivia. Now that you understand that you really did move through time and space, you’ll be able to start to piece together what happened in that warp. Didn’t you say the penalty for moving through the warps was total memory erasure about what happened in the warp?”

“Yes,” Hanna admitted. “That’s what Gabriel said. But was it really a full erasure for me? If it was, then why do I recognize FATE and even Grimm? Why do I keep having these nightmares of what apparently happened in the time warp? I just don’t know.”

“Hmmm,” Andrew murmured, sitting back in his chair and rubbing his chin. “Maybe it wasn’t a complete erasure? Maybe it was just the memories in your conscious mind and not a full mind wipe. Because if it were full memory erasure of those events, you technically shouldn’t have any déjà vu, dreams, or nightmares about any of it. You should not be able to recognize FATE or this Grimm monster at all. Yet you do. Something more is going on here if you ask me. I think Hanna is meant to recover those memories. They’re still there, just walled off kind of like the Cadre did to Amelia’s mind.” Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FɪndNovᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Whoa,” Harry breathed. “Now that’s a very interesting thought. I know with computers we can erase information off them, but as long as the hard drive is still intact, even deleted information can be recovered using the proper equipment. Even if the hard drive is damaged, the information can often be recalled. Only when the drive is totally wrecked and unreadable is the information lost. Is it possible that Hanna’s brain is a damaged hard drive that is still readable? I remember Josephine saying something about seeing and repairing a strange memory sector in Hanna’s brain in the mutation procedure.”

Hanna’s eyes grew wide and a gasp escaped her lips. “You’re right, Harry,” she said softly with great amazement. “She did say that. I have a damaged memory sector in my brain that doesn’t mesh with the rest of my brain. Is it possible that the movement through these time warps I’m supposed to have fallen into did that?”

“It would not surprise me,” Enoch stated. “If that’s the case, then accessing those memories is only a matter of having the proper means to access them. But you must remember, your brain is not a computer drive. It’s far more complex. It could be very dangerous trying to break into that area of your memories without the proper equipment and preparation.”

“You’re so right,” Hanna agreed, “That black hole in my mind left from Bolivia is a very dangerous place. Nearly all my nightmares leak out of that zone. But if what Harry is right, then there’s a real chance I might be able to discover what lies in there and maybe, just maybe find out the truth of who and what I am. Then I’ll be able to finally piece together this crazy puzzle and figure out what all this means.”

“I’m sure you will,” Kida purred. “And we’ll be here to help you find those answers. But for now, just relax. You don’t need to worry about it or the nature of the multiverse. You need to focus on what’s right in front of you. The multiverse can take care of itself. It’s done so since the beginning anyway and doesn’t need you to worry about it.”

Hanna chuckled as she felt the last bits of the burden lift. “You are so right,” she chimed. “Sometimes, I just get too tied up in things I shouldn’t. Thanks for reminding me. There’s no way I can do anything about the multiverse. It’s way too big for a little runt like me. Besides, the Lord can more than handle it. It’s His creation after all. I should let Him handle it.” Her eyes grew wide and a gasp escaped her lips.

“What is it?” Harry asked. “You look like you just figured something out.”

“I did,” Hanna breathed, feeling free of the revelation’s burden. “Like an idiot, I once again was trying to handle Gabriel’s revelation in my own strength. I’m so stupid and pig-headed! He tried to tell me not to worry about it, but like a dummy, I did. But just now when I said I should let the Lord handle the multiverse, I let go of it and got my peace back. I realized just then that I was trying to handle it my own way instead of the Lord’s way. I don’t feel so crushed by this new information now.”

“That’s wonderful,” Selina crowed, rolling her chair close to Hanna and giving her a hug. “I’m glad you could let go of it. There’s no way in heaven or Earth that you could hold up under the pressure of the entire multiverse. Only the Lord can bear that. I’m so glad you gave it back to Him. Now, you can relax and have some fun without that hanging over your head.”

“So true,” Hanna replied, returning Selina’s embrace with one arm. “And even better, it’s making what I’m sensing from FATE and Grimm bearable. It’s not bothering me like it did before.”

“Excellent,” Enoch crowed. “You don’t need those things weighing on you right now with your procedure looming. Go, have fun, relax, and leave the Darkness in the dark. It’s not going anywhere.”

“Dad’s right, Hanna,” Andrew agreed. “Leave the Emperor and FATE in their darkness. Don’t worry about them. We have your back right now.”

“That we do,” Kida purred with a smile, “And I can also sense your mood has greatly improved since you shared this with us. You needed to share it. Now we can help you carry it.”

“I truly appreciate that,” Hanna said warmly, leaning back in her chair. “But you know, I think I need to tell this to Josephine, Nemesis, and the drakens. They may have some insight into these things I don’t.”

“Of course,” Enoch answered. “But I wouldn’t worry about that right now. What you need to do is relax that mind and body of yours today. Remember, tomorrow morning you will begin the mutation reversal procedure. You need to be fully rested...mind, body, and spirit when you go in there. If you like, we can share this truth with Josephine and the others. I think I grasped it enough to relay it to them.”

“Me too,” Andrew chimed. “Let us worry about that. If we need any help, we’ll come to you so you can explain it.”

“I can do that,” Hanna replied. “Man, it feels so good to have gotten that off my chest. Now, I think I’m going to go for a swim. Swimming has always helped me relax and center myself.”

“I’ll join you,” Selina stated. “Besides, I need to go there for my daily swim therapy. I’m sure Elle, Emma, and Arabella are waiting for me.”

“Then let’s not keep them waiting,” Hanna chimed, jumping up from her seat. “Oh, thanks for the delicious breakfast, Kida. It was great.”

“You’re welcome,” Kida purred pleasantly. “I’m glad you liked it.”

“We’ll see you guys later,” Hanna stated, taking hold of Selina’s wheelchair. “Ready to go, sis?”

“Let’s go,” Selina purred, “Just stop at our quarters so I can get my swimsuit.”

“You got it,” Hanna replied as she pushed Selina out of the kitchen.

Once Hanna and Selina were gone, Enoch smiled and shook his head. “Did any of you see that coming?” he asked.

“No way,” Harry stated. “I had no idea that the Lord was going to show Hanna the true nature of the universe, multiverse, whatever it is that we live in. I’m really feeling like a grain of sand on a beach right now. It’s definitely going to take me time to wrap my mind around this one.”

“Me too,” Kida admitted. “I never saw this coming. Not once in my entire life did I ever dream the nature of creation would ever be explained to us. It just goes to show how special Hanna really is.”

“So true,” Electra agreed. “The Almighty has chosen Hanna to be the vehicle with which He shall disperse His truth to all creation. This much I am certain of. As for sharing what she did, I would suggest we chose very carefully to whom we share it. Weaker minds will not be able to take the truth Hanna just showed us.”

“I agree,” Enoch stated. “But I’m certain Josephine, Nemesis, and the drakens will be able to comprehend it in some manner. We must share it with them at the earliest opportunity. It’s important they know.”

“Then what are we waiting for?” Andrew said, rising to his feet. “Let’s go tell them. I’ll go tell Josephine.”

“Always looking for a reason to see Jo, aren’t you, son?” Enoch teased, smiling.

Andrew blushed. “I just like being around her,” he answered bashfully. “She’s my friend.”

“Don’t tease Andrew like that, Enoch,” Kida chided. “You know how he feels about Josephine.”

“Sorry, son,” Enoch apologized. “Go tell Jo what Hanna shared. I’m sure she’ll find it quite interesting. I’ll go talk to Nemesis about this before speaking with Aeolus and Argus about it.”

Andrew smiled. “All right, Dad,” he chimed, walking away. “See you later.”

“Okay, son,” Enoch replied. Turning to Kida, he kissed her on the cheek. “Call me if you need anything, honey,” he said warmly. Kida nodded with a grunt as Enoch left.

“Let’s get these dishes cleaned up,” Electra ordered in a friendly manner.

“Right,” Kida answered as they set about cleaning up Hanna and Selina’s breakfast dishes.
