Summer Frost POV

‘I’m waiting for you outside’ Hunter’s text came in as soon as I was done getting dressed, and I sighed.

“I’ll join you shortly’ I replied to his text, picked up my handbag, and walked out of my room. Chloe already left to see Dad with the kids, and Miguel was Jaking care of something for me, so I was left all alone at home.

Hunter’s car was parked outside with him leaning against it while waiting for me. He was cladded in a pair of black velvet trousers, black button down shirt, and a pair of black boots to compliment the dress. I must confess that he looked handsome as always.

“Shall we?” He opened the car door for me as soon as I arrived outside the gate, and I hopped inside. He closed the door behind me, walked over to the other side of the car, and hopped inside. The ride to the dinner party began.

“You look gorgeous,” He glanced at me with a faint smile on his face.

“Hmm… Thank you,” I replied to him briefly and proceeded to stare out through the window.

‘I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you. I should’ve been there for you” I breathed out as Lisa’s words replayed in my head. Lisa was the only friend I had back then, and the only family of Xander who approved of our relationship and was there for me all the time I ever needed her. I was very sure that Xander wouldn’t have done that if she was here years ago. She would never have allowed that to happen under her watch because she would protect me the same way she would always do whenever her family tried to bully me.

“We are here,” Hunter’s voice disrupted my thoughts, and I realized we were parked at the parking lot of an unfamiliar villa. He was holding the door open for me with his hand stretched forward, waiting to help me out of the car.

“Hmm… Thank you,” He held my hand and guided me gently out of the car. I wasn’t so surprised when I saw the many expensive cars parked at the parking lot. The party was hosted by an influential family, so I couldn’t have expected less.

“This way,” He led the way while I trailed behind him, our hands still locked together,

“Summer!” I heard a familiar masculine voice just when we wanted to walk past the flower decoration leading to the entrance door, and we were forced to stop. The thick and fast footsteps behind me made me turn, but Xander out of nowhere, grabbed my hand and pulled me away roughly from Hunter.

“What the f u ck do you think you are doing?” Xander didn’t care that there were people around who were watching as he acted like a crazy man.

“Let go of me!” I yanked his hand off and stepped away from him. I had no idea he was going to be here, but it seemed like he would always show up everywhere I go. It’s crazy.

“What f u cking business do you have with him? What are you doing with him?” He yelled at the top of his lungs, his eyes filled with rage and pain.

“What is the meaning of this, man?” Hunter stepped forward with a deep frown on his face.

“The meaning of this is that you are f u cking flirting with my wife, and I don’t find it pleasing!” Xander yelled to everyone’s hearing, and my jaw dropped to the ground as I wasn’t expecting that

to intervene. I didn’t want to mess this up. Dad asked me to come represent him here, and I didn’t want things to go wrong. He would be so mad if anything happens, and that was the last thing I wanted.

“Stay out of this, Summer!” Xander’s eyes were filled with pain as he glanced at me and looked back at Hunter.

He scoffed and turned to me with a smick at the corner of his lips.

“Why? Don’t I have the right to talk when my woman is hanging out with another man?” He huffed.

“When did Xander get married?”

“What is going on?” I heard murmurs as people gathered around.

“Let’s get out of here,” Hunter held my hand in a bid to drag me away, but Xander held his hand and stopped him.

“Let go of me, Xander,” My voice came out weakly as I stared into space. Tears streamed down my cheeks for no good reason. Yes, I had no idea why the f uck I was crying.

“We are no longer together! We f uc king separated, so what the hell do you want from me? I couldn’t hold it in anymore, so I yelled at the top of my voice as I yanked his hand off me.

“Wow! Mr. Xander was married and got divorced?”

“Now, this is making sense. I thought it was just mere rumors. He was really married,”

“What could’ve happened?”

“Summer… Hünter tried to interfere, but I shook my head, and he nodded.

-You want to embarrass me? Why don’t we do it together, hmm?” Tears streamed down my cheeks as I looked at him, and his face went blank.

“What do you want from me, Xander? You dumped me… You f uc king accused me of cheating on you… You threw me out in the middle of the cold night… You didn’t reach out to me for the past six years. What do you want now?” This was going to affect his reputation, and I was safe since nobody knew my identity yet as the popular surgeon and the successor of Miller’s Corporation.

“Why? Did you find out that you were never sterile? Do you realize now that I never cheated on you, and you are here to claim me back?” I scoffed, took a step close to him, and looked into his eyes.
