Chapter 67

Chapter 67

Summer Frost POV

I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier. Wanna come over to my house?” Xander had asked me earlier after he drove me out of my apartment, and I agreed without even thinking about it. I had a lot on my mind and the only thing I wanted was to stay away from home and clear my head.

Aher a long ride, we finally arrived at the said house. It was my first time being here, so I presumed he must’ve gotten it after we separated over

the years.

“What should I offer you?” He asked after he walked me into the s a c i o u s and well furnished living room.

“Water is fine,” I breathed out as I slumped on one of the couches and rubbed my forehead slowly and gently, I felt even better after I left my house, sol was glad I agreed to go with him.

He came back from the kitchen minutes later with a glass of water and handed it to me.

“Thank you.” Imuttered and gulped down everything afterward.

“Are you hungry? What should I make for you? I wasn’t sure you would agree to come here with me, that’s why I didn’t make anything before your arrival I can go to the kitchen and quickly fix you something to eat. Just say the word, and I’ll get to it immediately, I can assure you that Xander wasn’t being like this because he wanted to get my attention or something. This is who he had always been. This is the same way he always treated me back then, He had always been this sweet man right from the onset.

*I’m fine. I’m not hungry,” I only had breakfast all through the day, yet my stomach felt so stuffed up. Maybe because of what happened earlier that made me lose my appetite.

“Are you ok? Did something happen? You don’t look fine,” He looked at me with concern.

“Hmm… I’m fine,” I nodded and turned my face away, trying everything I could to force back the tears that were trying to force their way down my

cheeks.

“You are not fine, Summer. I know you too well, and it’s obvious that you are not. Talk to me… What happened?” He cupped my cheek in his palm and turned my face to look at him, his eyes gazing into mine.

“It’s written all over you that you’re not fine. Talk to me…. What’s wrong?” He insisted. I really needed someone to talk to about the crazy thing! experienced today, I needed someone to rant to, I needed someone to pour out my broken heart to and tell the person how sad I was, but Kander was definitely not who I could do all that with.

“Is this about my Mom? Is this about what- Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FindNʘᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“I only agreed to come here with you because I wanted to clear my head. Can you please allow me to do that? I’m not in the mood for all these,” I held his hand and removed it from my cheek before looking away.

“Hmm,” He nodded disappointedly.

“Do you want me to show you around the house?”

“That’s fine,” I stood up first before he did, and he joined me.

Xander took me around the big mansion and showed me everywhere which included the gym s

section.

“Are you sure you’re not hungry? I can make you noodles if you want. You should eat something.” He inquired again after we returned to the living room.

“Just make anything finally agreed not because I was hungry. Just that I missed his food.

“I’ll be back.” He finally left for the kitchen, leaving me in the living room,

1 made you who you are today, so you are going

oing to do whatever I ask you to do, and that’s final” I bit my lip as those hurtful words replayed in my head

“Don’t think about it. Get your mind off it at least for now, I quickly wiped off my tears and sniffled.

It took another thirty minutes for Xander to fix me something to eat.

He kept stealing glances at me as we eat together in the dining room.

you allow me to eat, please?” I rolled my eyes even though I was enjoying every bit of it because it gave me this chills and spark in my heart.

“I’m sorry

about that,” He muttered and continued eating.

He offered to clear the table when we were done eating.

“I will do it” I insisted, but he held my hand and s a t e d the plate from it

“It’s not a good manner to allow my guest work in my house, I will do this,”

He was doing the dishes in the kitchen when I heard the sound of thunder rumblings from outside, and in split seconds, it started to rain.

“It’s raining” He muttered as he came to join me in the living room.

“Hmm.” The atmosphere was awkward. It suddenly felt so cold in the living room and even after he turned off the air conditioner, I could still feel the cold

Inside and outside of me.

are shivering.” My heart flustered when he placed his hand on my forehead with a worried expression on his face.

“Are you ok? Are you sick?

ick? You are

“I’m fine,” I yanked his hand off my forehead. His touch was

as sparking something within me, giving me this urge to be wrapped in his warm arms though it was crazy to even imagine. The memories of how we used to cuddle back then whenever it was raining, made it even worse.

“Are e you sure you are fine, Summer?” His raspy voice made my heart race, and his eyes gazing into mine, made me feel like he was already ripping my dress off of me, and crazily, I enjoyed the crazy thoughts.

“Hmm… I’m fine,” I nodded briefly and turned my face away.

“Do you want to play card games? It’s always boring when it’s raining,” His voice came on again, but I quickly shook my head.

“I’m not here to play games with you, Xander,” That was uncalled for. I could actually decline in a more polite manner without being rude to him, yeah?

“Hmm… Right,” I could sense the disappointment in his voice even though I didn’t look at him.

The atmosphere got more awkward with every seconds that passed by as I looked forward to the rain stopping soon so I could get the hell out of here, but it only got worse. The rain got even heavier, and it didn’t seem like it was going to stop anytime soon.

“It’s getting late. What do we do now?” He broke the awkward silence after he checked his wristwatch, and I looked over to the wall clock to confirm what he said. How time flies? It was a few minutes to 10pm. Even if it was not raining, it would’ve still been too late for me to go out at this time, and now that it’s raining. I could not bring myself to risk my life.

“Do you

have a spare room? I will just sleep over, I looked at him, and he nodded.

“Yes, there are spare rooms. Come on, I’ll take you to one,” He stood up, and I did the same,

“One second, please,” lexcused myself and took out my phone from my handbag.

“Hey, dear. I don’t think I’ll be able to make it back home tonight. Take care of the kids. Good night. Make sure you shut the doors and the windows tightly. Call me if anything happens

“Let’s go,” I turned to him after I sent a text to Chloe, and he led the way while I trailed behind him.

He led me up the staircase and took me to one of the several rooms along the long hallway upstairs.

“The bathroom is over there. Make yourself comfortable. Give me a call if you need anything.”

“Thank you,” After he left me alone inside the room, I stripped out of my dress and went into the bathroom to shower. Thankfully, there were robes in the closet when I got back inside the room, so I slid into one of them and sat on the king-sized bed.

Getting everything off my mind and having a peaceful sleep was all I wanted to do, but my dream didn’t come true as I received the message that was meant to ruin my mood, and it really did.

“How dare you ignore my calls? I want to see you first thing tomorrow morning if you don’t want to see the other side of me A drop of tears slid down the corner of my cheek as I read the heartbreaking text from the person who was supposed to be my only guardian now. He wasn’t remorseful about everything he said to me earlier.

“You don’t own my life, so stop ordering me around!” I had already typed those words in my phone, ready to send it to him, but I held myself back. Is that the truth? He practically owned me. Who knows, maybe I would’ve been dead by now if it wasn’t for him. He saved my life, so he owns me, right?

In split seconds, my phone’s screen was filled with the tears from my eyes. I tried to hold it in, but I ended up whimpering, unable to take all the pain. It was too much on me. If only I have a family of my own, no matter how poor they might’ve been, I would not have been in this situation.

It didn’t cross my mind that I was not in my house, coupled with I thought the room might be soundproofed, so I broke down in tears and cried out my heart like it was the end of my life. Is there anything left of me?

The door burst open seconds later, and I snapped my head up to see Xander standing with a worried expression on his face.

“Are you okay?” His lips were parted, his eyes gazing into mine like they were searching for something.

F**k! How could I have forgotten that I was in his house?
